Excellent news Potia, hope all goes well on Friday!
Best wishes to you and your Daughter. 😃
Sorry to hear about your little girl Poita, hope all goes well and she’s feeling better soon!
Best Wishes
Yeah, me too! 😃
Good to see you back btw 😃
Thanks Harmy, it’s good to be back! 😃
I haven’t visited these forums in a long time, a long time.
This thread has made my day, I’m more excited to see the results of this project then I am for Episode VII!
Making Episode VII visually fit in with what has gone before isn't a problem. Not when you can just change what has gone before to fit with what you are doing now (Episode VII)! I look forward to finally picking up the OT on Blu-Ray in the future, only because all the lens flares they will have to add to match Episode VII will obscure all the other "creative decisions" aka visual faults the 2004/2011 transfers have!
For the record I very much enjoyed the 2009 Star Trek film when I wasn't being distracted by all the blinding lens flares!
These LaserDiscs have now gone to a good home, thank you to everyone who showed an interest! :)
Yes, but only for the altered editions, the theatrical editions will be letterboxed 4:3. :(
Hi All,
I have the following LaserDiscs that I am looking to give away for free (not including postage) if anyone wants them:
http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/31018/113039/Star-Wars:-La-guerre-des-%C3%A9toiles-(1977)
http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/30233/142539/Star-Wars:-L’Empire-contre-attaque-(1980)
http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/31020/147839/Star-Wars:-Le-retour-du-Jedi-(1983)
I originally brought these to use in my PAL LaserDisc preservation project, ultimately I didn’t use them as I was able to buy and use the Coffret Box Set which has English Audio tracks rather than French.
I had planned to sell these on eBay once I got the Coffret Box Set however I never got around to it and now for what little I would get I can’t be bothered, so rather then just throw them out I thought I would offer them up here first.
If anyone is interested just let me know, you can either send me a PM or just reply I don’t mind either way.
Thanks for looking.
Thats not 100% correct.

I have both Moth3r's and LeeThorogood's copy of that set, You_Too. I can post those images from them tonight...
Lee did the French Coffret set of the SE. He did 2 versions....I have both.
IMHO this is how the OT is suppose to look (ignoring the limitations of the GOUT!) :D
If that's the way George wants to play this then my reply is don't bother doing the Original Trilogy in 3D, its not the (version of) Original Trilogy I would want to see any way! IMHO the 2004s were bad enough but with the additional changes made for the Blu-Rays and with any cinema release just being the Blu-Rays in 3D like I say as far as I am concerned he may as well not bother!

How many self loathing Star Wars fans will force themselves to watch AOTC and ROTS in 3D because George will claim he won't do the OT (special editions, of course, not OOT) in 3D unless he makes enough money from the prequels?
The long con continues.
I seem to remember this issue of DVNR/smearing in relation to the '97SE has come up before fairly recently. If I remember correctly the Laserdiscs both PAL and NTSC do have DVNR smear :( although no where near as bad as the GOUT! I also seem to remember that the smearing in the Digital Broadcasts is mostly the result of the capture cards of the day doing a poor job of capturing rather than actual DVNR smear in the broadcasts themselves.

Here's a random STAR WARS thought:
Lucas: I am altering the film. Pray I don't alter it any further.
Fans: This film is getting worse all the time!
Just thought it was funny :-)
Sorry I don't do torrent uploads, although I am perfectly happy for someone who does do torrent uploads to upload them for those who don't do newsgroups. :)toho-scope said:
Lee can you upload your latest pal set to myspleen?
Thanks guys! It's very kind of you to say! :)Murry Sparkles said:

Lee is a very nice person too....
Agreed 100%.
I haven't watched Lee's coffret set in a while because of Harmy's despecialized versions but i remember them looking very good on a 46 inch screen, i would recommend them.
These are looking great so far OmegaMattman! :) Although I think SW could do with a slight saturation boost on what you have now.
For me words cannot describe what a immense loss this is! :( RIP Mr. McQuarrie.
Disc Utility should work fine, failing that try something like SimplyBurns or LiquidCD, both are free.theextractor720 said:
i've got a mac, had these on my pc for a while, turned them into .img discs stored on the HDD, now how do I burn them? Anyone have a good software for this? Does Disc Utility work?
I was actually thinking of doing a PDF file with pictures to help illustrate the instructions, but if you would prefer a plain text txt file thats cool I can do that. :)dark_jedi said:

I can do instructions for swapping the V3 video with the "V4" video. :)
That would be great, and make it so it keeps all in tact like chapters, menu's, audio options, etc.
Thanks for doing this, I can get the needed programs, I just need a text file to include on how to swap.

Count me in for interest in DVD video as I don't have a blu-ray player. I only have a 26inch LCD TV so I don't really see the incentive to upgrade to blu-ray just yet.dark_jedi said:

Thank you, but it is not just me, my partner You_Too is just as deep into this as I am, it is SO nice having a full fledged partner this time around, but he is seeing how painstakingly tedious this is\will be, and there are times when you wonder, "why in the hell am I even doing this" I spent most of my day just preparing a script and rendering the bad frames to fix them in SW, plenty of times I just wanted to walk away and fire up my Xbox lol and relax, but I stuck with it and now it is done and ready for encode.
But Empire, oh boy, Empire, this is going to be a real treat, or I mean a pain in the ass!
plus I am building yet another PC, I am building my 11 year old Son a very nice Gaming PC like mine.
Ah, didn't mean to give You_Too the rough side of the pineapple! Thanks to You_Too as well! Anyways, I think you hit the nail on the head with "why in the hell am I even doing this." Anyone who has ever started a project has reached that point. Flat out, it's because we love Star Wars. In all of our whining and bitching about George Lucas and Lucasfilm and the Blu-Ray release and the EU and the Prequels (etc.), I think people are too apt to forget just how good the movies are (I don't even mind Jedi that much either). Flat out, they are phenomenal. I hadn't watched them in a while, so this past weekend I broke out your V3 DVDs and watched them all, and despite how many times I have seen them, I was blown away. Those movies were groundbreaking. It is unbelievable how well the effects have held up. Star Wars is over 30 years old, and the space fights still do it for me. Some of my housemates ended up watching with me, and it turned out that two of them had never seen the originals. They had never actually seen Han shoot first, or heard Yub Nub. Not to be cliche, but it was somewhat magical watching them get to experience the same thing that people in theaters did all those years ago. Just incredible.
Funny thing you mentioned the V3 DVD's, along with the BLU V2 I am going to use that lossless avi from from that project and encode a new DVD video file(V4 if you wish) if there is interest and it can be swapped out to make a new V4 DVD Set, these will be encoded at the same bitrate as the V3 but will have all the enhancements of the BLU V2, then I will upload them to Spleen, again if there is even any interest in DVD video.
Many Thanks Orinoco_Womble!
PM sent. :)

I hope you enjoy the Technicolor discs and find them worth the newsgroup subscription! ;) Just so you know I don't plan to re-author the '97SE DVDs but simply release a set of fixed audio files and instructions on how to apply the fixed audio to the DVD ISO files.
If you have the hard drive space you could download the '97SE DVDs now and then just download the audio fix files when I release them. Just a thought :)
Is this still happening Lee? I really liked your 97SE versions.
Edit: Just a thought, is it possible to sync the 5.1 from the 2004 versions with these? Although the 5.1 audio of the 1997 SE would indeed be much better - especially for ROTJ over the 2004 one. ;-)
Happy to be of help. :)
Good Luck with your project!
