Backstroke of the West DUB (Released)
Time

First off, thanks for all the hard work you've done on this, LazerMasken!  We've been discussing this project in two other threads for a while now.

Bobocop-- were you able to successfully mux a new dvd?  (The one Lazer put out is an .mkv file.)

My dream Backstroke dvd would be one that has both the subtitles AND the dubbed audio along with dvd-quality video.  I would make it myself if I had any idea how, but I am relying on the genius of everyone else on here to make it happen...

Monroville-- excuse my lack of knowledge with this stuff, but I had a suggestion.  I used JDownloader to grab both the audio (which JDownloader converted into MP3 files) and video (as MP4's) of all 25 parts of the dub that ThirdGathers has posted on YouTube.

If all you need is the audio, would it be feasible to download each individual clip's audio track, then splice them all together to make one complete track?  If this produces the kind of audio track you'd need to mux it with a good copy of the movie, we'd have a true masterpiece.

Again, forgive me if this is a stupid idea... I'm just adding what little I know to the discussion.

I don't want to wander too far off topic, but I'm just curious, Gathers... where did you obtain the copy from which you made all the individual clips you've been posting on YouTube?  From your responses in this thread, it seems as if you weren't involved in the production of this dub at all, so I was wondering where/how you came by it.  It's an awesome find.

And to CP3S, I'm with Gathers here-- any movie, especially a LOTR film, that has these kinds of subtitles would be hilarious!  I wish you still had them...

Good post, CP3S.  And I agree with your assessment... this dubbed version of BOTW has to be fan-made, and is extremely well done at that.  I just wish we could get a complete DVD of the entire thing in .ISO or even video_ts form so it could be enjoyed as a movie instead of separate clips.

As for the Engrish subtitles, I find them side-splitting hilarious.  Backstroke of the West is (as far as I know) the most well-known of them, I guess since it's Star Wars-related.  I also saw some vidcaps of a bootleg copy of the second Harry Potter film (Chamber of Secrets) that was simply called "Hally Porter" and pitted young Hally against the evil wizard Fodi; but alas, I have never found any actual video of that one.

I can't speak for everyone, but I would love to get copies of any and all popular movies with those Engrish subtitles.  If anyone out there travels to those parts of the world and obtains some well-known films with these screwed up translations, I'm sure they'd be a hit if made available for download.

marioxb posted earlier that he'd like to update his Backstroke conversion kit so the dubbed audio could be muxed with the original ROTS dvd.  The problem (from what I've seen in this thread) appears to be in getting the complete audio track off of the dubbed version.  I am feverishly awaiting any new progress on this topic!

BTW, Bobocop-- if you get your hands on that Jedi bootleg, PLEASE let me know where I can download a copy!!

Are you ThirdGathers' partner in this venture, toho-scope?  (Just wondering since you seem to have info about the source dvd.)

At any rate, I've been dedicating my sparse free time to adding the Engrish subtitles to the dubbed clips.  Slow going, but I'm getting there.  After I'm done I'll make an attempt to join the clips and see how it turns out.

And a scan of the DVD cover would be awesome, Gathers!

Hey Gathers!  Great to hear from you again.

This is quite simply the most awesomest thing I've seen in a long time!!  As I said before, I love BOTW, and your dubbed version makes it even more hilarious.  Major kudos to the voice actors!

Needless to say, I would love to have a copy of the entire thing in one movie (I'm not really good at this sort of thing, but I've downloaded all the clips and I'm gonna attempt to join them somehow).  If you succeed in your efforts, let us all know.  If your dubbed version could somehow be put onto a DVD along with the original subtitles, we'd have an instant classic.  Btw, is there a part 25 with the last few minutes of the movie?

May the Force (and more free time with which to work) be With You on this one!!
