Is there any chance, at this juncture, of having the Slave I go into cloaking device mode (like how it's done in Star Trek) at the end of his approach to the Falcon, to better explain why he wasn't detected when he followed Han all the way to Bespin? :)

According to Captain Needa the Falcon is too small to carry a cloaking device. Since Slave 1 is much smaller than the Falcon it wouldn't make sense if it were able to cloak somehow.

Besides, I don't think one would need to be able to "disappear" to hide from such a ship as the Falcon. A cruiser can have equipment allowing it to detect any ship nearby, but a freighter wouldn't necessarily have that. So as long as Fett keeps his distance (which he does), doesn't lock-on some missiles on the Falcon or pings his IP address I'm not shocked that Han is oblivious to his previous.

"Red 5" and later "Rogue Leader" don't designate Luke's ship, they designate him. It's his call-sign whatever X-wing he's flying.

Burdokva said:

* don't get me started about how stupid the entire X-Wings "are super secret top of the line stolen fighters" thing is.

The entire plot of ANH revolved around the rebels stealing the plans for the Death Star and you think the idea of them stealing a ship design is stupid?

Burdokva said:

At best they should have been the previous generation (Clone Wars/pre-Civil War years) top of te line fighters, like late 1980s Su-27s or F-15s.

That's what the Alliance used at first : the Y-wings bombers and Z-95 Headhunters, used by the Republic army during the Clone Wars (you can see them mostly during Filoni's show). They were so sturdy they were still in use during the New Republic's time. But the X-wing being a better ship was the Alliance's navy spearhead.

And the TIE's are inferior fighters. They have no shield generators, no hyperdrive and less powerful engines. The reason they seem to be faster in the trench run is because at first the rebel pilots are going in at reduced speed to be sure not to miss their target and be able to pull up on time. If you remember the moment when Luke goes in he says "we're going in full speed this time"

I don't want to offend anybody here but I think that some of you here should try to be a bit more objective about the changes that GL made to the Star Wars Original Trilogy, yes he made a lot of bad calls by making Greedo shoot first, adding Jabba to the first film, adding Jedi Rocks and Christensen to ROTJ etc. but that doesn't mean that ALL the changes he made, like cropping this cockpit shot, are automatically bad, give him a bit of credit. Some of the changes he made, especially to effects shots, were improvements IMHO. Remember that Star Wars would not exist without GL, he deserves our respect for that alone, even if he went off the deep end later on with some of the Special Edition changes.

It's hard for me to respect the man for various reasons.

One of the things that annoys me the most about Lucas is how he justify all his crappy decisions by saying "they're my movies".

Yes, Lucas made Star Wars... Or did he? He came up with the original concept yeah, but what he often fails to mention is that his script was rewritten by Willard Huyck and Gloria Katz, who weren't even credited. And I don't need to remind anyone here that he didn't direct Empire and Jedi. So "his" movies? Not as much as he claims.

And now for my favorite trivia : he was so sure the final version of ANH would flop that he didn't even show up at the premiere. He even made a bet with Spielberg (which he lost), that Encounter of the Third Kind would have more success than Star Wars. That's how much Lucas believed in "his" movie 30 years ago ; yet today he keeps prancing around abusing "his" movies (yes at this point I'm calling it an abuse) to his heart's content.

But the worst part, in my opinion, happened when Lucas started to make decisions based on how it would affect toy sales, namely not killing Han in Jedi. I'm not saying killing Han would have been better or anything, but of all the reasons a director can think of for deciding the fate of one the main characters, the only one that popped in Mister Lucas' head was : "But if we kill him we'll sell less of his action figures so let's keep him alive and make more bucks !" Oh I'm sorry George for a moment there I thought you were a movie maker not a f***ing toy salesman!

So as much as I respect everyone's opinion on this matter he won't be getting my respect anytime soon. Not that he'll lose any sleep over it anyway.

All that being said you're right : all the SE and DVD changes weren't bad (I can't recall any good changes on the blu-ray apart from the CGI Yoda on TPM). But Lucas has added so much bad on Star Wars since Jedi it's hard to see the good he added.

Have you considered simply uploading your vids to a hosting service? Since it's mostly extracts and comparison shots I doubt it would violate any of their copyrights law and that way we wouldn't have to deal with Youtube crappy compression, crappy bandwith (yes on some countries, watching a HD video from YT is like downloading with a 56k modem) and crappy copyright policies... Simply put no one would have to put up with Youtube's crap ?

I did use to upload all the clips to places like hotfile, rapidshare, megaupload etc, but you would always get some asshole reporting the files for copyright. I knew it wasn't the hosts recognition software because i started zipping the files and passwording them and they were still getting deleted. I always get someone threatening to report what i'm doing to Lucasfilm, and more recently Disney, so stuff like this is to be expected with assholes like that. They would even smugly comment how they had got it deleted. Bloody Lucas worshippers. ;) And i am certainly not going to only supply the password via private messaging when i get thousands of hits on the videos.

 Seriously ?????

OK there are two things wrong here. First : some Lucas fanboys reporting your work. No one has to like what you do but... Damn!

Second : the videos you post being considered copyright violation. So some edited Lucasfilm images and sound are available freely. What do they fear? That it's gonna ruin their DVD and Bluray sales? Give me a break here...

Fortunately thanks to the magic of browser extension, those who like me can't watch Youtube streaming can still download it. Do you see the irony here : downloading a video from a streaming website so you can watch it... This is what the internet has come to.

Oh by the way, not sure where you are on that but if you'd like some french subtitles for ESB:R I'm still your man :)

@ImpFighter- What's been done to this shot to improve it? I don't remember a discussion or vid clip of that. (I'm not doubting you at all, I just don't remember)

here is a pretty old clip that shows some of the tweaking done to that shot:

http://youtu.be/p2KztwIScY8?t=4m30s

Youtube is seriously getting ridiculous with its copyright claims now. It's blocked most of my videos but with the above one they have muted the audio due to matched content:

Since when was the bloody Cantina music in the ESB asteroid chase? It just shows how screwed up their recognition software truly is.

That guy who did that thing wasn't named because no one involved in the production thought it was important. I agree with them.

Yeah, I remember hearing Boba Feet's actor (can't remember his name) say that the only concern they had about the character is whether or not the actor would fit in the costume.

 lol

Henceforth, he shall now be known as...Boba Feet.

Haha! I just noticed my mistake thanks to you :)

Boba Feet hmm... That actually sounds good to me. Let's rename the punk!

oh that scene. lol. oh well, that will teach me to join the argument when i'm ill.

But i do think that the film works better without him being named.

Hope it's nothing too serious. Get better soon Ady :)

And I agree with the film working better this way. The villain of the movie is Darth Vader, Fett is, like I said just supporting cast.

To all the people who are insisting Boba Fett was never meant to be named, one of the deleted scenes from ESB was Luke being tended to by Leia and her referring to  Boba Fett by name, a scene that was more likely cut because it interrupted the flow of action in the finale than because it named this apparently nameless bounty hunter that every one on this site knows by name, and yet insists that he's supposed to be nameless. This is my issue, he's obviously supposed to have a name, but the movie simply forgot to say it. No, it dosen't matter what the name of some extra who only has one scene and does one thing is, but it does matter when a guy who is named in literally every single appereance of his, every time he's mentioned, except ESB. That's like trying to make Darth Maul nameless when everyone knows his name already, it's just pointless. Even when the Man with No Name IS named in the movies he appears in, everyone still just calls him the man with no name. The truth couldn't be more opposite with Boba Fett; the movie neglects to name him, and yet everyone knows who he is. The fact that they didn't name him feels more like a hiccup than an intentional story decision.

There was no mention of Boba Fett in any of the deleted scenes in the medical bay. Jabba was the only one mentioned. I don't know where you got this one from but you are completely mistaken.

Sorry Ady but you're wrong. I saw that deleted scene too. It happens inside the Falcon right before it shakes and Leia kisses Luke on the forehead and tells him "I'll be back". She does mention Boba Fett by name.

Looking great as usual ! :)

By the way I watched ESB recently (the theatrical DVD that Ady released for the 30th anniversary) and during the battle of Hoth I noticed something which always bothered me and I it still in the clips Ady gave us. I'm talking about that woman :

Am I the only one to get the feeling that she doesn't know what she's doing here ? When I see her doing that all I can imagine her think is : "So when am I supposed to say 'yay' again? I'll just look at those guys and do it when they do... Oh here they're doing it."

Anybody else?

Is there any reason to suspect Leia wasn't referring to Queen Breha when she spoke of her mother?

Oh I dunno....how about:

LUKE

Leia... do you remember your mother? Your real mother?

LEIA

Just a little bit. She died when I was very young.

There is no need to suspect. It used to be written in SW.com that she is talking about Padmé. Since the website's been redone the page isn't available anymore but it was there.

Wouldn't surprise me to hear that GL changed his mind about this though. That's one of the few things he's very good at.

And while you're at it, you could replace all Vader's Imperial March themes with Little Ani's theme from TPM!

Excellent!

Ouch, you guys, that really hurts. I'm sure you guys didn't even give it a chance. :/

Yeah, you just learned the hard way that here, suggesting to put PT stuff into the OT is like saying "What's your favorite meat?" to a vegetarian.

Note that ironically, Adywan himself put a bit of RotS music into ANH:R (which I think he might be removing in ANH:R-HD).

I'm curious about this one and haven't noticed it mentioned anywhere else. What is the plan for Anakin's inconsistent skin color and texture of his head between ESB and ROTJ?

In ESB it is flesh colored and more badly scarred in texture. In ROTJ, it's very pale (with obvious powdered makeup) and appears to be smoother in more areas.

Unless Ady already had something else in mind, I think it'd look good to have it be a tiny bit more pale in ESB, then match this coloring for ROTJ, along with some more added wrinkles/scarring in certain areas around his head. And yes, I'm in the boat who liked seeing his eye brows removed and eyes blue :)

The skin of ROTJ's Anakin has only been pale since the DVD version (where they also removed his eyebrows and changed his eye's color). I'm pretty sure Adywan's planned to restore the pre-DVD Anakin, including removing Christensen's ghost.

Ady created the Alderaan destruction video as a joke because he imagined the worst thing anyone could do is edit Jar Jar into A New Hope. He figured he would make a joke video. It was a joke, NEVER considered to be in the final edit.

Seriously? I thought I remembered him saying he didn't put it in the edit because it showed Alderaan's destruction as rather slow which didn't fit Obi-wan's description of it as instantaneous.

Well I'm glad to know he never actually thought of putting that in ANH.
