Done. Now I’m going to open a beer and enjoy this masterpiece!
I gladly paid the 5 EUR MEGA plan to get this faster…
That was very well timed!
ESB:R release it seems it at hand, after almost 10 years 😃
I would appreciate a MySpleen invite to get the edit as soon as it is out.
If not, I guess I’ll just have to wait for public torrents or DLC…but after waiting this long, few days delay will not kill me 😃
Haven’t posted in years, but I have to say the Wampa looks amazing!
Holding my fingers crossed…

If memory serves, Kerr's version doesn't cut back to Gandalf there and instead has two consecutive shots of the WK, making a jump cut. Neither is ideal.
Any ideas how you are going to tackle this scene?
I was so glad when I read that HD versions are in the making. I've seen Kerr's book cuts I and II, and Sharkey's Purist cuts of TTT and ROTK, and I must say that they work. Less fluff, more true to Tolkien.
I am planning to re-watch ROTK Sharkey's Purist edition soon, which brings me to one issue I remember - you have cut the WK breaking Gandalf's staff, but if I remember correctly, after the horn goes off in the distance and WK flies away, we see Gandalf on the ground where he would have been in the un-edited version. Will double check this today.
I love that this scene has been put in in the extended edition, but no way should WK break Gandalf's staff or in any way scare him. Gandalf is the only one able to resist the terror of the WK and stands his ground ready to do battle, then the horn sounds and the WK flies away.

I delved deeper into framerate issues only to find out that each source VOB file has it's own framerate. Now I regret choosing such a simple editor as KDENLIVE as I cannot make the different framerates work together.
I did however get an idea - I'll render separate parts of the whole project, each with it's own corresponding framerate and then join them in AVIDEMUX. I have tested it on two smaller samples and it seems to work.
I was almost out of ideas.
oh_riginal, I am glad you liked the edit.
Ok, to address some issues, from small to the bigger ones.
Downmix to stereo: I have a quality HiFi system, but only stereo (for music I never liked surround), and editing in 5.1 takes more time than 2.0. Never really considered 5.1 audio edit.
slowing down Vader's movements and speech, aren't as noticeable, but they are there.
Some more, some less noticeable, but I do think that all those small changes amount to the stronger character of Vader.
And... as for the stuttering...it is slightly noticeable during the panning shots only.
This is my first edit, and I wasn't careful enough at the start of the edit. Somewhere in the middle I have noticed that I have both the progressive/interlaced and frame-rate set wrong. The change to progressive was not a problem, but I tried to set the project to the correct frame-rate, and the timing of the edited clip got all messed up. At that time my main goal was to finish what I started, and I deemed the small technical misstep acceptable.
I did notice it while watching the finished edit, and like oh_riginal, after the intro sequence, I forgot about it, so I guess it is not a big deal. On the other hand, I am mad at myself for this stupid mistake. Perhaps later on, if there is enough interest I could try to change the project to the correct frame-rate and then fix the timing of all the clips.
I anyone has downloaded the torrent, plz seed, so other can get it. SpeedyShare link should still be up too.
Anyone watched the edit yet? Kind of anxious to hear what you think...
4 GB file size limit? Really? I have a simple WDTV media player and never had any problems with file size. I use an external hard disk of course.
I just went for a large size to really minimize the re-compression loss i.e. to provide the best possible quality.
Some people like like oranges, some prefer apples. Different people, different tastes...world would be boring I we were all the same ;)
Yes, you should be almost done judging from the torrent client upload data.
Seeding right now
Booting up :-)
Ok, some members reported that the torrent is not working, so I have re-created the torrent and tested it. Should be working now...
New link - PM

I have created a torrent and I'll try to seed but my upload speed sucks... PM for the torrent link
Anyone managed to download the edit yet? I heard that the link is very slow...
Cut/change list added to the first post.
Btw, the list of changes is comming soon. Most of the changes have been mentioned here, but not all.
Sorry for the slow download speed, but so far it is not available anywhere else. I have a slow upload speed so I was hoping someone else could seed the torrent.
Yes, you are right. Sorry, I kind of forgot. Ups.
The link is gone.
D/L link in the first post.
I would also be very grateful if someone could seed a torrent of the edit.
After considering things again, I have decided to cut the whole Tarkin/Vader tracking device/'This had better work!' dialog.
Lea already concludes that the ease of their escape was due to being let to by the Empire, and not much later we see a scene with Tarkin getting the news about orbiting a moon with the rebel base...
I am now working on adding just one line of credits for the "Stronger Vader" edit, and then I will be releasing the edit.

Not a bad idea, I'll try that line.
Anyway, I think the scene works even without the "This is the system line", but might be even better with the suggested additional line.
If it doesn't I can still just drop it, I do not think the debate over the tracking device is crucial. As mentioned, Lea already concludes that the ease of their escape was due to being let to by the Empire.
