You’re welcome. 😃
You’re welcome. 😃
Where did that quote come from?
Google is always your friend. 😉

Die Hard 2 is on MySpleen.
Ah, I (mistakenly) thought 1.66:1 was the theatrical AR.
Reportedly it’s Verhoeven’s preferred AR for the film. Hence its usage for the Criterion releases.
I definitely prefer the film in 1.66:1.
Bumping this thread to let you all know that Arrow has announced their edition for RoboCop on Blu-ray (US and UK) which will include (in addition to the Unrated and TV cuts) the original theatrical version for the first time officially on Blu-ray!

Excellent news, thanks for sharing this information! 😃
According to the details tab…
Aspect Ratio: 1.85:1
^This means that the Criterion release still remains the best version for the OAR.
I’ll try to capture the .TS stream (unfortunately, my IPTV provider streams ORF1 at 720p, not 1080p).
Thanks, 720p is much better than nothing imho. 😃
If someone with access to ORF1 could agree to record it, we could confirm this. 😃
I’m bought industrial JVS VHS duplicator and I will be making my own copies, if anyone’s interested.
Of what and from where?
Can you give more information about this? I’m certainly curious.
Alexander.
Top: DVD. Bottom: Open Matte SDTV.
I’ve got some to contribute to this list. For starters, here’s 300: Rise of an Empire.
Of course, each comparison has the theatrical AR from a home video release at the top and the bottom is the open matte SDTV broadcast.
More to come! 😃
You’re welcome J! 😃
Yeah, I picked up the October 2019 film guide and there’s a lot of interesting stuff in there. It won’t be feasible for me to catch everything that I’d like to see, so I’ll get them on DVD/Blu-ray.
Please let me know when there is a UK airing - I would very much like to see this.
Really intrigued by her story - thanks for posting it up mate.
Update time: it’s on at the BFI and the Vue West End during October 2nd and 3rd.
I’ve booked for the 2nd. 😃
I have the Ortofon 2M Blue. It’s a mid range moving magnet cartridge.
I really like itEdit: Bronze
The Ortofon Bronze.
Sorry I forgot cause its
my new cart. Had the blue for so long. Sorry
Good choice. 😃
I’m looking forward to listening to your handiwork. Thanks for your efforts with this.
Thanks!
A matter of technical curiosity, which stylus are you using? I have the Stanton 680 on my SL-1210.
Personally I’d release in 96kHz/24bit. Even if you can’t hear the difference, at least it allows some more editing for those who want to do it. It’s supposed to be a kind of archive after all.
I’d also welcome a 94/24 release for us audiophiles who’d definitely appreciate this option. 😃
Though the unique thing is sometimes the first DVD release had extra bits not seen in the TV versions of the episodes, but sadly they were omitted on the re-release due to them wanting to reflect the original BBC broadcast versions
That’s interesting and also disappointing that they didn’t include the extended episodes as alternate versions on the re-release. Doing so would have given fans the best of both worlds.
😄 We’d only the need the episodes (movie length?) that are affected on home video. I reckon that between the two of us that we can get this done. Hit me up in PMs?
Damn it! 😦
Thanks for checking. You’re right, let’s see what happens. Shall we both record the episodes in question? 😃
Cheers mate.
I hadn’t seen that thread. Thanks for the heads up. 😃
…but a couple of syndicated episodes which we may be lucky enough to get broadcast unedited.
Could be wrong though, as I’m by no means knowledgeable on the series.
Yeah, I mentioned that in my original post. This I suspect might interest people the most. They’re airing a 16:9 version of the pilot - was the series shot with HDTV protection? If not then its been cropped and it might not be worth recording the episodes if they’re in the wrong aspect ratio. 😦
Just happened to look through the EPG and discovered that they’re airing the pilot tonight and it would appear, also the entire series over the coming weeks/months.
Given the information in this thread, the soundtrack has been restored for the Blu-ray releases but they lack some of the original movie length versions of the episodes. They’re included on the DVDs apparently but it might be worth capping them in case of soundtrack substitutions.
Let me know you think. If there’s enough interest, I’ll clear some space on my PVR and record the whole lot.
does anyone know where to find the 80’s censored for the cbs tv version of the The Exorcist? supposedly it has alternate dialog.
Seems to be confirmed below. Apparently Friedkin prepared the TV version himself.

The entry for The Phantom Edit has not been removed, it was moved to the trivia section: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120915/trivia
So it actually has been removed from the section after all?
Anyway, you win.
Happy now? Now you can feel big. Enjoy the day. 😉
Maybe, but the entry for The Phantom Edit has also been removed and that was certainly not wrong. We definitely know that exists…
I’ve been searching on Internet Web Archive (web.archive.org), there are regular backups of the “alternate versions” page since 2003.
I found no mention of any differences on the VHS on any backup of that page. Actually, IMDB doesn’t talk about the VHS release at all.
Yes, I had also checked the Archive in the hope that it would be there. Unfortunately, it appears that the archiving began after the entry was removed.
