Yep,…but he hadn’t figured it out yet so he crammed it in along with the Plagus thing

And now you’ve moved the goalposts.
You said he forgot. I provided proof that he didn’t.

same thing

j

Not even close. I proved your original claim objectively wrong. We’re done here.

The point is George crammed it in,…whether he forgot or thought he had plenty of time to explain the vanishing trick…he ran out of time & tried to tie up heaps of loose ends in his final episode,…contradicting himself all over the place…now if you want to draw out my ‘forgot’ statement as though Geordie had some master plan,…we all know he didn’t…he makes it up as he goes

There is a scene in ROTS with Yoda and Obi on the Tantive, which explains this very thing. Yoda, Kenobi, Qui-Gon and Anakin are the only Jedi so far in to come back in ghost form, not all of them.

Well since two of those four disappeared and the other two didn’t, I fail to see how a scene in ROTS explains anything.

Qui-Gon is the first guy to figure it out though.
He “learned the path to immortality, and returned from the netherworld of the force”. He learned to manifest sometime after death, not before. So no disappearing.

As for Vader in ROTJ they either goofed, or Anakin had to learn from the rest of them after he died, since he likely never learned it in life, unlike Yoda and Obi-Wan who learned it from Qui-Gon.

Palpatine stole the technique from his master & promised to teach Anakin in ROTS,…to save Padme…Luring Anakin to the Dark Side (daft I know)…Palps continued to teach Vader,…but unfortunately a Sith can’t live on through the Force when he dies,…only a Jedi…(a bit like Heaven…sinners are bad),…but Vader redeemed himself at the end,…Luke incinerated his body & the spirit of Anakin lives on with the Force (daft I know).

Qui Gon died & was cremated at the end of TPM,…George totally forgot about this plot hole so he crammed in that Qui-Gon has been studying this technique but had not completely mastered it,…but after his body was torched,…he lived on through the Force…& came back as a spirit to Yoda & told him the special trick,…so Yoda told Obi-Wan to give Qui Gon’s spirit a shout while he was being a hermit on Tattooine so that he could to the live on through the Force thing…(daft I know)

J

So what you’re saying is that George forgot but he didn’t forget?

Yep totally forgot until the last episode (3,…for George, that is)…better explain that disappearing thing

…crammed it in

have you watched the films?

Holy crap. Just watched the trailer.

Kanan looks cool (Sabine painted some Mandalorian Jaig eyes on his mask!)
Freaking WEDGE defecting (with Sabine, according to Tobar)
Y-Wings (Tobar says that the whole base and everything is taken from a West End Games scenario)
Battle Droids! Neat!
A YT-2400!
More Mandalorians. It’s cool because they were originally Imperial Supercommandos, which is what these guys are. Very exciting!
Dark. Freaking. Troopers. If they have the Arc Hammer I will lose my mind. If Kyle Katarn shows up, I’m sold forever.
Tarkin’s back!
Cham’s back!
Maul’s back!
TIE Interceptors (with red stripes)!
Nightsister magic?
The Bendu (Bindu) looks amazing. Definitely going to be seeing some really trippy Mortis/Korriban level stuff in this series.
Sabine gets the darksaber!
Scout Troopers!
More Inquisitors? Sith spirits? HMM!

And of course, Thrawn.

I’m a bit in the minority with him. By the end of the Thrawn trilogy, I hated the character because he’s just too perfect and infallible and it gets really stupid. Hopefully Rebels will turn him into a decent character, though. I’m more interested by the precedent it sets: if Thrawn can be recanonized, who’s next? We could get Mara Jade or who knows. That’s what’s really exciting to me.

…& what sounds like Tom Baker

one can hope but the fact that it says “a new hope” and not “Star Wars” may give some indication…

It will never be advertised as simply “Star Wars” ever again, regardless of which version. Even if they use the original poster art they’ll still mention that it’s ANH.

On a somewhat related note, I wonder how a hypothetical official release would “avoid the awkwardness.”

The GOUT did it by releasing the movies individually on dvd for the first time and then going “oh, and they just happen to also include the unaltered versions.”

We’re already past that point on blu-ray (the steelbooks), so I’m thinking Lucasfilm/Disney/Fox will simply wait until it’s time to release I-VI on 4k ultra hd blu-ray (I’m sure they’d put out regular blu-ray versions as well). Then they can call them “ultimate editions” or something to that effect, and be all like “oh, and they just happen to also include the unaltered versions,” even though they know damn well it’s the only reason most people would buy it. Maybe if we’re lucky we can get the theatrical prequels and the '97 versions thrown in as well.

It’s worth mentioning that if there were a 4k release of the saga, Eps 2 & 3 were filmed digitally at 2k

Sorry Muddy,....no burst bubbles, its just at the beginning of your debate you seem to use ROTJ insight

I never had a problem with that. I always took that line to mean that, while she WAS using Luke to try and make Han jealous, she was also testing to see if kissing Luke DID in fact feel as wrong as she thought it would. Not so much a kissing of literal siblings, but more of a "Yup, that FELT like kissing my brother". And it was only in hindsight that Leia said to herself "oh THAT'S why it felt like kissing my brother".

 No problem.....

Sorry to bring up the ESB/ROTJ kiss thing again.....but its all down to how you interpret the films

Muddy's argument that the line in ROTJ is fine because he sees the kiss in ESB with the ROTJ 'Somehow I've always known' reasoning in mind,....hes filling in the gaps,.....hes using his knowledge of ROTJ when re-watching ESB which makes the line OK

I saw the films as they came out, waiting three years to find out who 'The Other' was. Leias line in ROTJ stating that somehow she always knew was a groan moment, because it threw away emotions & situations in the two better films

A similar interpretation that I sometimes get is when Ben starts to explain how Lukes father died in Star Wars. Ben pauses and shifts his eyes as though he's thinking.....here comes the lies....Sir Alec in reality is putting pain into the conversation as it hurts him to talk of his old friend who was betrayed & murdered by Bens pupil

If you read back on the posts you'll see that Bingo just says that the line would be better taken out of ROTJ to keep the character of Leia true to who she was in SW & ESB
