I saw the reference on that wiki page. My reference came from the PoA book with what Ron said. There is a conflicting reference in the same book with what the label on the Pepper Imps says. My edit covers what Ron stated.

It shouldn’t be a big issue, but calling me out on it for what you see in a release video puts me on the defensive. I was already called out less than an hour after I released the announcement video by someone not thinking I did a high enough bitrate on these versions. Sometimes being a fan editor is just thankless because there is always something else that someone thinks should be changed instead of being thankful that they were released the way they are.

Sorry, but I must not have followed the reference that you quoted. I did not go with fire or sound effects. The audio in the scene never specifically says what the candy is or what the result is supposed to be, but in PoA Ron says, “It’s this sweetshop,” said Ron, a dreamy look coming over his face, “where they’ve got everything. … Pepper Imps — they make you smoke at the mouth,” which is what my scene shows. Guess I somehow still screwed that up, although I’m not sure how exactly since my scene shows exactly what was quoted in the book.

As the YouTube announcement video states, v2.0 of my Wizarding World extended editions have been released and are now available. If you have requested the v1.5 edits in the past year since I re-released them, the information you received for those will still work. The v1.5 edits are no longer available from me. With the 5.1 surround audio and the additional scenes and tweaks that have been made, I feel like these are superior to the previous ones.

A full list of changes in v2.0 are available in this Google Doc:

One item that I have not revealed up to this point is that I have taken the English subtitles for each of the films and have passed them through Google Translate to create subtitle files for a lot of other languages. You will need to know going in that these are just a raw translation from Google with no corrections made. They will not be 100% accurate. Most like, they will be far from it. I am providing these solely because I have gotten so many requests for audio and subtitles in other languages. I am not a language expert and English is my only language. These are provided solely to give a better experience for those that are wanting text for another language. The languages I selected were pulled from the languages that were available on my original UK copies of the films. English subtitles are already embedded in the MP4 files, but I’m also including external SRT files in English for those that want them.

I honestly can’t answer that question. Since the next movie hasn’t even been released in theaters, there is no way of telling what will be coming as far as deleted scenes when the blu-rays are released. I almost didn’t do Crimes of Grindelwald since they released an extended version. The only reason I did was since I was able to create the new intro scene and because they put the words “Deleted Scene” on top of their version, ruining their version.

All I can say is that we will see what gets released with it is time for the disc versions to come out.

That one is tricky because the bridge part where Neville is standing is not already in that clip. So Seamus is looking up at nothing. I have not come across a good option for that bridge part yet that I could insert. I cropped the clip and sized it so it blocks out the ceiling and where Neville would be standing. It isn’t ideal, but it was my best option for the initial cut. If I find a bridge portion where I can drop it in, I can go back and change that portion.

Wow! now we don’t notice at all there was a green screen in the HP-Dudley scene. Do you plan to increase a bit the luminosity on the last 3 movies especially DH ? Because I think we lose so much of the picture/details with this much darkness 😦 (I know it’s from the original movie, but…). Maybe even increasing a bit the contrast too?

There will be 2 versions of HBP and the DH movies, one original and one color-corrected to remove the tints placed on them. I did that when I originally released my edits, but chose not to release both after I pulled them and reuploaded them. Purists can watch the originals. Personally, I use the color-corrected ones because you can see so much more of the films.

It seems like we are gonna have “never-before-seen clips” in this “Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts” show airing the 1st of January.

If there are indeed new clips I will definitely see what I can do with them, but I won’t hold my breath. I thought they might release new clips on the 20th anniversary Max Movie blu-ray that was recently released. No such luck. Any new clips that I can fit into the first film would allow me to release my own personal edit of that film, which I haven’t done since there is already an extended version for the first 2.

Thank you for all your work, I really appreciate it, and your movie is my go-to version now. I wish there was the french audio track in it to allow my french family to watch it. Maybe I could sync the french audio myself, any cues how to do it? I could also translate into french the added scenes.

I likely have the French audio tracks for the main movies since I only use the UK versions of the films for my edits, but I doubt the deleted scenes have them since they are unfinished clips. I would have to check. That certainly wouldn’t be on my priority list though.

Trust me, that event continues to plague me, which is why on the preview of this new intro you will find a pretty good-sized watermark on it. I still find references to the guy that took my preview edits. They are still on YouTube and there isn’t much I can do about them. So I choose to move forward. I have enjoyed getting back into editing lately and I’m not going to let someone from the past take that away.

On that note, here is the new intro section that will be used on both Deathly Hallows Part 1 and the combined Deathly Hallows edit. The new intro includes the Dudley Redemption scene with green screens replaced. To accomplish this, I used Topaz Labs Video Enhance AI to upscale the footage to 4K and to smooth out some of the pixelation from the low res footage. This allowed for better masking of the green screen in some parts as well as allowing me to crop some of the green screen areas out completely.

I know that for some the intro will be way too long and the “flow” of it will have been broken by this addition. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, including whether to like this change or not. If you don’t like it, the current versions do not have this added in. To me, this scene is critical and should have never been cut. It had such an impact on me when I read the book the first time, so for v2.0 this scene will be there.

I also added sound effects when Hermione does the Obliviate spell as her pictures are removed from the frames. Some minor color tweaking was also done.

An update on the v2.0 edits…The main edits I’m concentrating on are PoA and DH 1 and 2, which all had scenes that needed to be keyed. The other movies will get a v2.0 update with a new warning screen at the start and h.265 encoding to make the files smaller as mentioned previously.

Deathly Hallows Part 1 is nearly complete. I was able to complete my draft version of the intro with the Dudley Redemption scene added and I am pleased with it. Waiting on some feedback on it first before showing it publicly.

One exciting thing I have been working on is in regards to rendering my edits out. In my current releases, the file sizes are all over 10 GB. I have been experimenting with using h.265 compression on one movie and was able to get it down to just over 2 GB without any noticeable quality hits. So the next releases will be much smaller than the current ones.
