Sorry mate I wasn’t able to replicate this issue either. PM me and we can try and troubleshoot.

After some tests, I think irishogradyOT is right and the glitch is related to my download. Can you please PM with an invitation to the Star Wars trilogy forum?, I’ll try from there.

Ok, thank you very much. I have to do some more tests, I didn’t try it with a pen drive directly on the TV for example. I’ll PM you as soon as I can. 😃

It would be nice if it’s corrected in the future, this is probably one of the best 4K preservations of the original film I’ve ever seen, My favorite after the 4K83 project.

Hostmaster, I’m not seeing the compression glitch in either my copy of the 1080p or 2160p versions. Might it be an issue with your software you’re viewing it on? Try MPV player, it works great.

I downloaded both versions (1080p and 4K) from myspleen, the 4K version twice, and just the 4K version has the glitch. I have installed Media Player Classic x64 with updates codecs (K-lite Megapack).

I tried too with Windows Media player and the glitch is not present there, so I thought…“Bingo it’s something with the software like you said” so I compressed the movie into a BD50 with DVDFab11 to create a 4K UHD compatible disc, and when I played the movie in my Samsung UB-K8500 the glitch was still present 😦

The GOUT Sync Thread
Time

I used the 4K83 ROTJ 1080p version to create a Blu-Ray, adding a couple of gout sync Spanish castillian dubs I have (One from the 2006 DVD, included in many preservation projects in this group, and the other from the 1995 Laser Disc, the one wich has the intro narrated) and both sync ok. The were no troubles with the 2 extra frames of the 4K83 ROTJ version. I used “tsmuxer” for it.

Harmy's RETURN OF THE JEDI Despecialized Edition HD - V3.1

Don’t blame it all on Lucasfilm. Plenty of people don’t see any significant visual difference between DVD and Blu-ray, and assume all content on a DVD is more-or-less “DVD quality” and by extension not significantly different than Blu-ray. Therefore, because the GOUT is on a DVD, it has essentially the same visual quality as the Blu-rays. QED, or something like that. You see this all the time, it’s just particularly galling because the GOUT is so awful (which you can blame on Lucasfilm).

it’s the disease of the XXI century, people with cellphones of $400-600 and still with DVD players at home. When you can buy a cheap Blu-Ray player for 50-70 bucks

Harmy's Despecialized Star Wars 1977 - Color Adjustment Project for v2.7 (released)
Time

Great work! Congratulations to towne, harmy and all the people involved. The new updates are amazing!

Just a little report, maybe it’s how is supposed to be the colors but I realized that in some scenes the flesh tones are a little bit yellow compared with 2.6 version (the differences are barely noticeable) Is it perhaps because the tweaks are based on the higher resolution 2.5. version? Or this was intentional?

Anyway I really love the final result of 2.7 version, the new lightsaber glow in ben’s hut or the new greedo subtitles are pretty good 😃

Here are a couple of screenshots comparing color faces in both versions

Project Threepio (Star Wars OOT subtitles)

PM sent.

I know Hostmaster and I have already discussed this privately, but for the sake of the thread, I wanted to add that I recommend against using the SRT files from this project for subtitles at all, and especially in combination with tsmuxer which has some bugs like the one mentioned above. tsmuxer allows you to add BD-SUP files instead of SRT files, which is really the only way I recommend using the subtitles from this project (the process is described in the README). You can also use media players like MPC-HC, which allow you to add external BD-SUP files that are not muxed into the video stream.

Yeah, I know, getting people to stop using SRT files for subtitles is an uphill battle, but I’m trying.

Yes, you’re right. I was just giving some info for the members. Sometimes I add to these GOUT projects other audios from old VHS tapes and forced srt subtitles based on them, So I don’t have always BD-SUP subtitles.

I didn’t know that tsmuxer has that kind of bugs, so definetely I’ll use your BD-SUP in my next MKV to Blu-Ray conversion. Thanks a lot for the PM with the link 😃

Thanks for the update! a PM of your great project is always welcome. About seeding it in myspleen I’d like to help, but unfortunately my internet connection is not fast too.

By the way I detected that when tsmuxer is used to add or remove srt subtitles, the resulting video always skips the last paragrah of the subtitles. The solution is easy, the files just need a couple of blank keystrokes with “enter”, and tsmuxer will automatically include the last paragrah. (For instance if in ROTJ, the last line is “He’s my brother” and the file just ends after the “r”. Well, just press “enter” a couple of times, save the file, and voila tsmuxer will include “He’s my brother” in the video)

Info: The Force Awakens Promotional trailers, including 3D trailers.
Time

I’m not sure if this goes in this section of the forum, but I found a website that has all the trailers of TFA (including the 3D trailers) and I’d like to share it with the OT community. I assume it’s only promotional content so there’s no problem to put the link here, right? If not I ask for apologize, and the admins of course can delete the post.

http://thedigitaltheater.com/index.php/the-force-awakens/

The 3D effects are just Awesome!!

p.s. If you have trouble watching the 3D trailers on your TV set just rename the MK3D files into MKV 😉

So did they replace the force ghost shot? It seems obvious that they did dying Vader from your comments but to what prowse voice too? so Is it safe to assume they dressed him up for the force ghost swap also?

Just the mask scene, no ghost scenes lol 😄 … About the voice, sure it was him. Now the actor has around 80 years old and it’s voice it’s very similar to the voice of James Earl Jones back then. Also they used another actor to do the role of Luke, maybe with this actor his voice was dubed.

Was’nt the make up shot of Prowse back of his head for Empire Strikes Back and not Return of Jedi?

It’s David Prowse, the makeup was done for the reshooting of the ROTJ final scene when Vader takes his mask off

The scene was shot again in 2015 by the director Marcos Cabotá in homage to Prowse and then was showed in a private screening with the actor and a few people. The scene doesn’t appear in the documentary because they didn’t obtain the permission of Lucasfilm for even shoot it. But there are some minutes of him during the makeup process and during the screening.

So this documentary is basically about making a fan-edit of ROTJ with Prowse as the unmasked Vader?

(Has this been an issue among fans? I’ve kind of taken Sebastian Shaw for granted, and it never occured to me that Prowese had any strong feelings about it.)

They actually did it, by a professional director. He asked permision to Lucasfilm, and of course it was denied. But it was shot anyway and viewed on a private screening with a few people including Prowse. They are no images of this scene in the blu-ray, because of the legal problems they would have for showing it. But there are images of Prowse during the makeup process and also during the private screening.

The documentary also talks of the reasons why Prowse was replaced by Shaw. Apparently George Lucas was pretty upset with D. Prowse because he believed that he leaked information to the press about the death of Vader during the shoot of ROTJ. Prowse always denied it.

Hah, yeah. Thanks for bringing more attention to that track.

I’m going to build an MKV with the new and improved track, so don’t worry about that. You can try to get the muxing working if you really want a branching BD, but I think it’s probably not worth the time. And the menu will be lying about what the track is. 😃

Thank you, I’ll send to you and Harmy a PM with the correct track (both PAL and 23,976) I’m uploading it right now. 😃
