Star Wars OT & 1997 Special Edition - Various Projects Info (Released)
Time

When you put it like that, it almost sounds like a lousy excuse on Lucasfilm's part for not wanting to devote their resources and time into restoration since they get a paycheck at the end of the day for their work while you guys strive relentlessly to keep our love for Star Wars alive.

Is there any chance of passing on this project to anyone equally capable in precision and passion or does the future of it rest on the shoulders of you and DJ?

Who should Direct the Star Wars VII, VIII, and IX ?

Don't know about episode IX, but my sources with Disney tell me that Michael Bay is set to direct episode 7. We are in for an epic tale of love, CGI and explosions.

Also, Rolland Emmerich is in talks for episode 8. Kinda fitting since there is supposed to be an alien landing in the movie, which is pretty much his area. Also, Boomer the dog will make an appearance as Dewback #7.

I can't think of someone nowadays besides Lucas I would NOT want to take the helm of SW more than Michael Bay D:

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

Hi, everyone,

Just wanted to throw a HUGE thank you to Harmy for this massive undertaking.  Truly a labor of love, and it has introduced me to this whole fan edit/preservation community, which has lead to my USB thumb-drive becoming accidentally write-protected with the Star Wars Despecialized versions filling it up (which I mind not at all) as well as my girlfriend almost dumping me because I won't shut up about Star Wars.  Totally worth it.

Thanks!

I know that feeling, my girlfriend would rather not be overwhelmed by my enthusiasm for it which is only a small compromise while there's still appreciation to be had.

Blu-ray burner/blanks discussion

Does it make a difference if I wanted to purchase a drive that can read/write Blu-ray, but while using a Mac that doesn't play back Blu-ray? I wouldn't plan on playing back discs with this setup if it wasn't already possible without a separate USB Blu-ray player compatible to what I'm using; so long as there's no trouble with the quality of performance rather than a preference on speed, I'll settle for hopefully a reasonably priced brand that takes away some of the hassle seen in the process.

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

With the impending release of this despecialized 2.1 edition Blu-ray upon us on the horizon, where does SW look like it will go from here as far as how this restoration process is now classified? Would this be considered the definitive outcome of all the time put into this or is there still work to be done with any existing imperfections/compromises preventing what would otherwise recognize Harmy's achievement in preserving the original SW?

Harmy's THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK Despecialized Edition HD - V2.0 - MKV & AVCHD (Released)

Bias or not, retaining the colors as they once were while tidying them up to coincide with the HD format is for the sake of historical accuracy thanks to that Harmy touch; so long as the final product depicts the authenticity of the best known sources available, I trust in the polish and attention to detail that made SW 2.0 the best version by miles compared to most official ones. Just when it seems like we've reached a cooling down point, leave it to Harmy in bringing us back to the fun of seeing this journey pick up where it left off.

Star Wars 1977 70mm sound mix recreation [stereo and 5.1 versions now available] (Released)

Here we go.  Fixed audio for all.

5.1, 448 kbps: part 1part 2part 3part 4

5.1, 640 kbps: part 1part 2part 3part 4part 5part 6

Lossless source files will be posted soonish, when I have time to do it.

When I extract the 6 parts of the 640 kbps, it tells me the archive is incomplete stopping around 218.4 mb without letting me know which part(s) are halting the extraction. I'll try again if it was only a fluke by chance, otherwise I'm open for tips.

EDIT: False alarm, it was part 3 just like other people happened to have trouble with. Got to work now, much thanks; are FLAC tracks available or is it advised to wait until loseless is finished to save space?

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

Seeing the color correction in the remastered edition had me curious about that sacred technicolor print since it's such a miracle to have it at all for reference; if there was anything that concerned me the most about what fans have been dealing with for so long, it's the potential for future generations to be brainwashed by how Lucas wants everyone to view the films as they are instead of keeping such a beloved piece of pop culture in tact to stand the test of time. Unless I didn't read into the details enough to which anyone is welcome to correct me, it saddens me to think we may never see Empire or Jedi in such a preserved condition beyond the limitations we've compromised with; despite the reality of the situation at hand, just being able to not have to settle with the official versions and relive them as we remember them is a priceless opportunity to which Harmy and everyone else who made this possible deserves eternal praise as the rebels who dared to do the impossible.
