How can I get this mono track synced to new blu-ray version? Or ANY version of this track, as I can easily do it myself. I've done many AV syncs for many movies so I dont think it would be a problem.

DVDMike - I've just taken a look at your comparisons and I see big quality loss (just look at the grain structure in Tech-Noir shot) is a color correction worth it?

Transformers ROTF: Gieferg's Cut - (Released)
Time

I've just revisited this edit after all :)

I've recreated whole thing from the beginning, most of the cuts is the same, but there are some changes and I am thinking about more. What is different: - edit will be released as DVD-5 PAL with polish subtitles - errors are fixed and some cuts improved - there is extended forest battle but in 2.35:1 AR cause I am not a big fan of shifting aspect ratio during the movie. - scene when Leo and Alice go to Sam is cut differently this time - Cheap Trick - Mighty Wings serving as soundtrack when Starscream is chasing and attacking three autobot cars and it is quite possible that more 80s songs will be added.

Rambo - The Hybrid Cut (Released)
Time

Long awaited Directors Cut of the latest installment in Rambo series was something like 9 minutes longer (especially characters development added, some alternate takes, some order of the scenes changed) , and some cuts were made at the same time. Unfortunately there was no additional action & violence added, and furthermore, some of it has been removed. So, there is no way to watch Extended & Uncut version of the movie at the same time on any of official release and the purpose of this edit is to fix it.

Edit is based on Extended Cut ripped from BD disc and converted to PAL DVD, scenes from theatrical cut have been taken from R2 PAL DVD. Running time of the edit is a bit messed up cause’ it contains real PAL (4% speed up) bits and most of it is converted to PAL but runs exactly as long as BD version.

 Final running time is 102 minutes (it’s 90 minutes until end credits starts).

And what has been changed:

 most of missing footage from Theatrical Cut has been restored, but there are some exceptions:

  • if there is alternative scene in EC, usually <span style=“text-decoration: underline;”>EC version stays in</span> (in some cases scenes from TC and EC were combined), if EC removes violence, TC version stays.
  • after the explosion of the grenade at the beginning and the orders of the soldiers, a shot of the captives running around aimlessly is still missing
  • the scene in which Lewis is carried on the stretcher by the others is still missing (cause I dont think they were able to build this stretcher that fast).
  • some of annoying fades between shots were deleted (especially in the scene where Rambo is approaching boat with dead pirates on it.

This is on DVD-5 with polish subtitles, no menu.

Revenge of the Fallen: The Real Effing Deal (Released)
Time

in your edit Gieferg the twins are still mentioned in the opening battle

Yes, they're still mentioned there. I wanted to delete it but ultimately forgot about it (it's not a big problem for me anyway). I was also kinda confused because of how Duhamel delivered that line. Of course if it was all about Arcee there should be "triplets" instead of "twins".

Revenge of the Fallen: The Real Effing Deal (Released)
Time

Bumblebee Talking,

It's not "my sound editing experiment" it's deleted scene which was released before ROTF's premiere but is not present on DVD. But This is a good idea - since BBB is talking through the radio faneditors are able to put there anything they want, the possibilities of changes are almost unlimited.

Is the video quality of version 2 of this edit improved in comparison to first version?

Transformers ROTF: Gieferg's Cut - (Released)
Time

In addition to the small glitches (i.e. the audio temporarily disappearing for a fraction of a second),

I've just rewatched entire thing and found two of them. First one when Sam & co are approaching ruins in Petra, second one when Simmons is talking with aircraft carrier captain - I dont know why they appear there cause there were no cuts at those points. I've also found two "flash-frame" video errors which I've not spotted before, but I dont know if or when I'll be fixing it, because there are some problems with this DVD - it plays fine, but anytime I am changing something in Womble, audio and video are out of sync, and I must fix it all over again which is really annoying. Not sure why this problem occurs but it is the reason which prevents from doing additional fixes.

I doubt if there will be another version of this edit anytime soon.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - The Kitten Calendar Edition. (Released)
Time

Let me ask you one thing - what is the reason that you're making those edits?

Kitten Calendar version seems to be created because of the same reasons that my own edit is created - the movie edited the way editor himself wants it to be and according to his personal taste. But on the other hand, Real Effing Deal looks like something done to please as much people as possible and make them watch it, they dont like Twins, let's cut out the Twins even if we think they are ok, they dont like humping Wheelie, ok, he's gone, they dont like Sam's Mom, ok, she's gone, etc. So this is not your personal vision of this movie.

I wonder if you would even want to watch this version :)

The Lord of the Rings - 3 in 1 Edit (Released)
Time

Deleting my favourite sequences ( Moria battle and Helm's Deep) would only lead to situation in which I would not even want to watch my own edit. And it would be pointless. And again - Saruman is my favourite character, and without Helm's Deep he is not a threat anymore, cause what is he doing? Burning down some village?

About prologue - most of important things are explained by both Gandalf and Elrond, but maybe I will put back some parts of it to scenes where Gandalf reads about Isildur. I will probably also put back scene with the shards of Narsil.

And thing about pity - let's assume that Frodo's compassion is only because he just feels he may end up like Gollum. Frodo and Gollum interaction in this edit is very shortened and may be shortened even more, cause there are some scenes which I may still cut.

The Lord of the Rings - 3 in 1 Edit (Released)
Time

228 minutes long workprint version (XviD) is available for anyone who wants to provide some opinions/advices about:

- what else could be cut

- video errors (like flash-frames in cut points) to be fixed

- audio errors (bad transitions, glitches) to be fixed

- what plot holes appeared because of something that was cut out

This is WORKPRINT, so it has some flaws and errors here and there but even with them I think that it is watchable version. PM me for links.

Transformers ROTF: Gieferg's Cut - (Released)
Time

I'm glad to hear that people like it :)

btw, did they like Stan Bush songs in it? In fact The Touch in final battle is the thing I like the most in my edit :)

and the other sadly does not believe in the concept of fan cuts.

Just like most of the people on Transformers boards. On one of them my topic about it was closed just because one of the moderators could not understand what is the reason to creating fanedit, when he can just fast forward things that he does not like... He was still commenting about "how pointless is creating of fan cuts" and when I said that I will ignore all his further posts cause they are pointless he close the topic...

There is also many people who just could not understand that fanedits are usually created by people who like the movie, but something is bothering them. So they say - "If you hate the movie, stop watching it!" well, If I hate the movie I dont give a flying F about it and I am not spending hours on editing it. Also, this edit is not for the people who think that the movie was perfect as it is, If they like it, that's fine, nobody will force them to watch fanedited version, but of course they are still commenting how the movie was butchered by faneditor (and of course they are not watching the edit to check if it works or not).

Idea: a Dark Knight: IMAX Cut fan edit?
Time

But it'd be a preservation of the IMAX cut of the movie, which, according to the conversation had here, sounds to be somewhat different than the BD cut or the full frame presentation anyway

Any version which would be different from BR would be either non-anamorphic in 4:3 or with black bars on both sides in IMAX scenes. It also won't have all of the IMAX shots which are present on BR cause some of them are not present on DVD.

If you REALLY want something like this, it looks like you will have to do it by yourself :P

I'm going to just say I thought it would be cool to see the IMAX cut preserved on DVD.

Yeah, cool, then download BR rip, convert it to DVD and burn it. Voila, you have it preserved on DVD.

What's the point in editing it? Its like inventing a wheel again.  I just dont get it.

In any case, all I'm saying, it only takes one person to release it.

Releasing fanedits is questionable, but something like this?  It would be definitely illegal.

Do you want to watch it fullscreen? I mean - 4:3 version switching from letterboxed 2.35:1 to 4:3 and back again? Such version would be rather useless for widescreen TVs users, cause non-anamorphic image looks like crap. Or maybe you want anamorphic with black bars from top & bottom disappearing and appearing on both sides?

If not, If you want it exactly the way TF:ROTF is, then it is identical to Blu-Ray release just in standard definition, so why anyone should bother to editing it?  There's no difference if you have such an edit or BRrip.

What about people who aren't outfitted for BR but want to see the rest of the visual information?

1. Buy The Dark Knight on BR disc

2. download mkv BRrip and convert it to DVD to watch it on DVD player.

Buy BR player in the future.

The Lord of the Rings - 3 in 1 Edit (Released)
Time

After compleing TF:ROTF edit, my next project is a fanedit of one f my favourites movies of all time.

What I am going to do is “What if” project. What If Jackson couldn’t do three movies but just one. So I am trying to literally cut out everything what I can. Of course what’s left must still makes sense as a single long (3-3.5 hours) movie. Of course this project will NOT improve the movie. I dont even think that those movies needs any improving, they are perfect for me as they are, but trying to compress those three epic movies into one is lot of fun and interesting editing experience

I’ve just finished assembling first cut, and it is 247 minutes long which is too much. I’ll try to trim some scenes which are still in, but could be shorter, and watch whole thing and try to find more scenes which can be cut. I’d like to have a version which can be burn on DL DVD without any video compressing.

Examples of changes:

  • there is no Faramir in this edit

  • most of Frodo and Sam scenes from Two Towers has been cut (there is only 62 minutes of TTT left in my first cut)

  • Arwen has only three scenes, Denethor has only two

  • we meet Eomer, Theoden and Eowyn when Aragorn meets them

  • there’s no Caradhras, after Gimli suggesting going through the mines of Moria, there is cut straight to Moria.

  • many scenes which are still in are heavily trimmed, for example:

Timstuff said:

There were a few audio glitches and slightly rough transitions which detracted from the experience a bit

Point them out, maybe it is something that can be fixed for future re-release. It was my first released fanedit (I've done before extended version of first Alien for my home use, but it was very easy to edit) so at some point, when my editing skills will be better I may try to improve it.

(i.e. the audio temporarily disappearing for a fraction of a second)

I didnt notice that when I was watching this version before uploading. Can you tell me where exactly it is?

implementation of "The Touch" during the last battle

I suppose you're the very first person who likes it :) It's 80's song and for most of the viewers it may be just cheesy and out of place, but Optimus without The Touch is not a real Optimus you know ;)

since I felt that their appearance later in the film was just a wee bit too abrupt

Well, they're present in Nest hanger in their car modes, and even after half of their scenes were cut, there still much more of them than Sideswipe, Arcee and especially Jolt. Besides, if there was no ice cream truck in Shanghai,  upgrading scene would look out of place.

Thanks for review :)
