What to do with the SE discs from the OT DVD sets...
Time
i like the idea of having the two versions side by side. as they prove how the 2004 cuts are lame and the originals are better, but we already have wookie groomer's set.

i like the idea of using them as frisbees, but i already have several.

i think the idea i like the best is replacing them with rowman's excellent supplements. and then losing them in a closet, only to find them several years later and having a good laugh.

Actually they cost way more if the dvd fails. Which it will and did.

Why ask this question when you are obviously planning to continue to use the stick-on labels? Are you waiting for some one to reassure you that your disc failure problem is an isolated case? It is not. It is a well known fact that stick-on labels ruin discs and I also know this from experience.

Hub printable media cost about $0.40 a disc at most. Here is a deal for .27 each disc Taiyo Yuden 4x injet hub printable 100 pack

Taiyo Yuden are considered the best media you can buy.

Printer cost under $100 with rebate. Epson or canon(with eprom hack)

So for a total cost of about $.50 a disc, you get very professional looking DVD and they will last.

Your initial costs will be more but in the long run it is worth it, trust me. I was in your same position a couple of years ago until someone set me straight. Now I can't believe I ever used stick-on labels.

Thanks for the suggestions, i actually was just making a slight joke about the $16 thing. the other thing is that when i made my brother's set i put sticky labels on his and he has watched all his dvds and said they work fine with no problems. Yet, i had major complications.

i'm in the market for a new printer anyway, and if printable ones are this in this price range, than who am i to pass up the opportunity. though may i request that i can pm or email you when i am in a position to do so, i am not aware of this "eprom hack," but thanks for the help thus far.

Do not use labels! They will ruin your disc eventually, sometimes very quickly.

Get yourself a printer that prints on cds & dvds. Pick up some hub printable DVD-Rs. Join a website like www.hirescovers.com and get some labels or make our own labels in photoshop.

Use krylon #1305 UV resistant coating to seal the ink on the disc.

Finally enjoy your dvds for many years to come.

Let me make it perfectly clear: DO NOT USE FREAKING STICK ON LABELS!

I know this topic has been discussed within various threads, but i was hoping to bring it together somewhat. I found that i am now having trouble playing my dvds that i put labels on. I used memorex glossy labels. i was wondering if others have had success with other brands or types of labels.

glossy or matte? choose your own adventure.

The quality of covers around here has completely surpassed my expectations. An impressive showing from all.

i was wondering if anyone has any alternative disk art for the classic editions. the wood style is excellent, but i like to use different disc art work from the cover art work. i've check the threads and grisian's site, but no dice. Thanks!

Classic Edition: Return of the Jedi by Ocpmovie (Released)

Sorry for the confusion ocpmovie, what I meant was that the covers that I've printed out to use are the ones you have hosted as:

and
http://orangecow.org/starwars/swcovers-nonocp/esbredvaderwtext-coov.jpg

I just like the uniformity of the bars running across the top and bottom on both, and I like the style of the posters (sorry, I'm not up on different poster designs so I really don't know what the "style" letters would be for them, or their origins) as they seem to have similar characteristics in so far as they both have an almost cartoon/comicbook-like feel to them. Like I said, I don't know the different poster variants, so I don't know if there is an ROTJ poster that could be used that would have a similar feel, I was just wondering if Coov had something like that in the works. I'd be very curious to see the 3 different covers that you said he's created for ROTJ so far though! Everything he's put together has been pretty impressive.

Not to many posters to choose from... but to at least keep it consistent'ish with the other covers I used the Revenge poster.

Hey Coov,

i was wondering when a final version of this cover would be made available. i think the revenge poster fits in well with the others as they are all truly unique. i must say that these covers are the definate cover set for the definative original trilogy transfer, in my opinion. Thanks for all the great work.

Are there any good paintings out there, I mean REALLY good, that depict Jedi scenes, and can be scanned full page?

Otherwise, I'm thinking the best route might be altering the normal Jedi poster and doing odd things to it. Giving it a red and green color scheme (Luke's saber green, background red), merging that with the "Vader" poster from Revenge of the Jedi.

There is that "fireworks" Jedi poster that depicts 3PO and R2 and some fireworks, that might be a nice element to use. I'm really not sure. I don't like a lot of the Jedi posters, apart from the official one. The painting just isn't any good on them. I don't like the UK one with Luke holding Leia, and the one with the Death Star exploding (badly painted) in the middle is merely "okay." The painting on the official one, on the other hand - really top notch.

we can only hope that coov will choose to do another great retro-cover to go along with the star wars and empire sets. the man does great work.
