The Unofficial Complete REVISITED SAGA Ideas and Random Discussion Thread

well IF you keep "Naboo" not making it "Alderaan" (which is to what Leia tells us a pacifistic society), they haven't got any planetary shields or ion cannons like we see on Hoth or Endor ...

But they did have armies.  True, most of whom were kept in detention camp, but the point is Naboo wasn't completely defenseless.  Also their soldiers did have weapons, and even the queen has some blasters hidden in the armrest of her thrown.

I see Naboo as being peaceful, but at the same time not so much a pushover.  They're still willing to defend themselves, yet they hope that they never have to.

hm, did you play "TIE Fighter" the video game?

I remember Emperor Palpatine gave a speech during the into:

"... soon Peace and Order will be restored throughout the galaxy."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puvD_FDS_jE

now take Obi-Wans "... the Jedi kinghts were the guardians of peace and justice in the old Republic ..."

maybe start with "Order and Justice" going to "now Peace is disturbed" over finishing "a/the defenseless planet Naboo" ?

just a suggestion to cut down the "peace" repeat and mirror what a Jedi and/or a Sith thinks about it ...

Interesting concept, though I wouldn't called Naboo "defenseless" since they do have their own fleet of Star Fighters...which we sadly never see again after the start of Episode 2.

Pokemon the First Movie Fan-edit (Released)
Time

The Fiery Editor said:

I think you should remove Team Rocket from the entire picture, the do absolutely nothing and there role is just to be Jar Jar of the Pokemon world

In Jar-Jar's defense, he did help bring the humans and Gungans on Naboo together in peace.  So he actually did have a purpose in "Episode 1"

As for Team Rocket, they're purpose was helping Ash and company get to New Island.  True, Team Rocket got them only half way and the Pokemon got them there the rest of the way, but still they served a purpose.  I know Misty said "Our Pokemon aren't strong enough to handle waves like this," but once their boat capsized in the middle of the ocean they had no choice but to use their Pokemon to carry them.

If you want to make Ash the main character fine, but redub the lines to make him referred to as Red and maybe use footage from the series to give him a better team.

With all due respect, Ash is not Red.  They're like apples and oranges.

Also about separating dialogue from music click this link.

I didn't say that I didn't know how to isolate music and voices.  I said I presently don't have the software to do it.

Why I dislike Adywans Star Wars revisted
Time

RicOlie_2 said:

His changes had logic behind them, and many of them fixed mistakes with the movies, or helped make the movie more visually consistent with the prequels. The SE left many errors as is, and added many silly things that weren't necessary or wanted.

Nothing against Ady and "Revisited," but I didn't really see logic in adding a TF Battle Droid head in the Jawa sandcrawler, using a different shot of R2's head when 3PO says "...because you won't get it" (I hear the sound of R2's gears inside his head before it turns), adding an electric beam to the torture droid or pasting himself into the throne room ceremony at the end.

Again, I mean no disrespect to Adywan or his fan-edit.

Pokemon the First Movie Fan-edit (Released)
Time

The Fiery Editor said:

This actually sounds like a great idea, I wanted to do something like this but I felt nobody in fan editing really cared about Pokemon so I probably shouldn't bother. These are ideas I'm going to give to you for your fan edit, I might help you out if there is some trouble you have or anything.

1. Add the deleted opening about the lost daughter of the scientist, you can find it on the Mewtwo Returns DVD.

2. Replace all the music with the Japanese music except for Mewtwos theme in which the american theme is MILES BETTER.

3. Edit it more in tone with the Japanese version whilst retaining the american dubs (You may have to re dub some lines)

4. Remove Mewtwo destroying the lab and instead only destroys Giovannis lab (It basically repeats itself twice)

5. Tell the story of the Japanese version where the story is much more complex.

6. Significantly reduce Ashs role, its Mewtwos story.

Thank you for the ideas.  The fan-edit is done, however, and I won't be adding in edits you have suggested.  At least not at this moment, and for the following reasons in relation to each suggested change:

1. The deleted scene does add more into Mewtwo's backstory, but I feel it would drag the film on for too long before getting to the overall plot.

2. I don't have the software to separate the dialog from the soundtrack.

3. I prefer the American version's tone with Mewtwo wanting to destroy humanity for using him, and the storm he was whipping up was intended for that.  The Japanese version has Mewtwo constantly asking himself who he is, and his storm was a test to get the best trainers to face him.

4. Mewtwo destroys both labs out of anger because he was fooled twice into believing humans cared about him, and he does rebuild Dr. Fugi's lab, which does explain why it looks different than it did at the beginning of the movie.

5. (Refer to number 3.)

6. Even if it's Mewtwo's story, Ash is still the hero of it.  Besides that, reducing Ash's role would also mean reducing Brock and Misty's parts, resulting choppy dialogue and music cuts.

What would have made the prequels better in your opinion?
Time

DuracellEnergizer said:

A likeable Anakin.

Better villains.

Consistency with the good portions of the EU.

Consistency with the OT.

Good dialogue.

Less "black hat" villains.

Less Jedi who are aloof ubermensch.

Less "white hat" heroes.

Little to no emphasis on the Jedi-Sith dichotomy.

More prominent female characters.

More Jedi who are human ("Human" as in having human thoughts, feelings, and flaws, not biologically human.).

More lightsaber colours.

No Artoo.

No Chosen One prophecy.

No Darths other than Vader.

No Hayden Christensen.

No Jabba.

No Jango.

No Jar Jar.

No midi-chlorians.

No mini-Jango.

No Natalie Portman.

No Order 66.

No Padme.

No Palpatine with a lightsaber.

No Qui-Gon (not as Ben's master, anyway).

No ridiculous universe shrinkage (Anakin building Threepio, Yoda knowing Chewie, etc.).

No stupid made up terms like "padawan" and "youngling".

No Temuera Morrison clone troopers.

No Threepio.

No virgin birth.

No Yoda.

No Yoda with a lightsaber.

I think it would be easier to just erase the prequels from existence :D

I can't play your crawl on this browser but the player generated a still which pointed out an error.

"Terrestrial" means pertaining to Earth so the sentence containing that word doesn't really make sense.

Naboo is Earth-like since it has more than one terrain, but I'm open to criticism and I can change the word no problem.  Thing is I didn't want to use the word "peaceful" in the same part of the crawl as the word "peace."

How did you first see the Star Wars films?
Time

My Uncle Carey made a pirate copy of Star Wars (A New Hope) for me when I was 3 years old (This was before the movie's first official VHS release).  I would watch the tape every day or every chance I got until my dad bought a legal copy from Columbia Record House.  He used my uncle's pirated copy to record another show over it.  At the time, I was too young to care and my uncle had not be diagnosed with AIDS.  Had I known, I would have told my dad not to record over the only piece of memory I had of my uncle.

We later ended up getting VHS copies of "Empire" and "Jedi", then I got my own THX 1995 copies for myself.

1997 was the first chance I get to see all three movies on the big screen.  It was the special edition, but I didn't care.  I was just happy to have the opportunity.

As for the prequels, I saw each of them in their theatrical releases.
