Regarding the Bunker on Endor…
After watching the scene where Han and Chewie were setting thermal charges in Starkiller Base, I’m beginning to wonder if the Bunker interior on Endor should be larger but obviously not as big as Starkiller Base. Just thinking of the huge explosion shot along with the dish that maybe the interior ‘could’ be more expansive?! Just my $0.02. 😃
The Obi-Wan scene is needless, all he does is tell Luke that Leia is his sister. Cut that. Cut it cut it cut it - do it. Now.
Cut this scene and leave the one where Yoda says “there is another Skywalker.” Trim the scene where Luke and Leia talk on Endor to reflect this

During the end battle Vader says “you have a twin sister” do a flash of Leia via the Force. Yads did this in one of his edits but if my memory is correct I don’t think he scrubbed all the earlier stuff. Now it was Darth Vader who told Luke that he was his father and now it is Darth Vader telling Luke that he has sister, who is now fair play as a target. The scene makes the Skywalker family tree a revelation to Luke, Vader and the Emperor. Luke losing his cool makes even more sense when you cut it this way. I’ve done an edit of RotJ using the Yads edit as a base (the Boba Fett less one) and it works very, very well.I disagree. I think Ben needs to answer for out and out lying to Luke. If one half of that interlude needs to go it’s Yoda’s death scene. It’s awful and says less.

He hangs around for the whole gap between Luke leaving for Cloud City and coming back from Jabba just to get a bit ill, tired and then die within a space of a few moments and without finishing his final sentence. Luke could be on Tatooine and sense Yoda’s passing if he is a fully trained Jedi Knight. Ben however has to finish telling Luke the story of his father. I would prefer him to do that where he started on Tatooine where there is some actual resonance rather than resting his ghost butt on a tree stump on Dagobah but it’s not my show.How would it work if Ben revealed his story to Luke on Endor after the Battle had been won? Of course, some dialogue will need to be edited out such as Luke discovering that Leia is his sister. Which would also include having to possibly bring Luke and Leia’s conversation later in the film as well like before or during the celebrations, but it would be difficult with Luke leaving to face Vader in the scene originally. It would be quite an undertaking and could it really disrupt the flow of the ending that much?!
Exposition when necessary should be a springboard. The only way you could have ghost Ben do this on Endor would be as a prelude to a prequel edit. You won, this is where you have come to, now I will tell to a tale of where you came from.
I guess in a way you’re right. This is a concluding part of a trilogy after all, unlike Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix where Dumbledore had been avoiding Harry for most of the novel, then began to tell everything to him at the end of the story. Luke discovering Vader as his father was hard enough, but to learn that Leia being his twin sister while facing his father during the final battle? Now I’m beginning to think it not being a good idea after all, but I do think the Luke Ben conversation on Dagobah could be touched on a little.
I honestly think he can’t make the deleted scenes work YET, but by the time he’s done he’ll have figured it out.
Spicediver’s Dune Alternate Redux simply inserted selected deleted scenes despite the quality, but I know Ady wouldn’t stoop to such a low. 😉

I love that image of the Rebel Briefing Room looking at the ceiling to see Sullust and other Rebel fleet outside. Love the camouflaged Stormtroopers as well. That would be a mammoth task though, wouldn’t it?
Another suggestion: wouldn’t it be cool to show establishing footage of the Forest Moon as the shuttle Tydirium enters its atmosphere. Maybe hire a helicopter and shoot some footage of the Redwood Forest in California then simply insert all the necessary props etc. Sounds expensive what with hiring a helicopter and pilot though, huh?
I really do like the idea of Luke actually returning to Dagobah before going to Tattooine to rescue Han. And while it looks as though Luke is dabbling in the Dark Side in Jabba’s Palace, I would actually like to see Luke following Obi-Wan’s example but I suppose at the end of the day, he ‘is’ Anakin’s son. Just think of all the unorthodox things Anakin did in the Clone Wars.
The movie should still begin with the Executor being dwarfed by the to be revealed incomplete Death Star and then if that little deleted scene of Vader telepathically communicating with his son could be re-filmed somehow with a little trickery - and then it would be revealed that Luke is in Dagobah in the process of completing his training. How cool would it be if Yoda was there to observe Luke constructing his lightsaber too? If Ady had access to an authentic Yoda muppet, how cool would that be? He built a Wampa from scratch. I suppose building Yoda would be a stretch though.
Thing is though, can Luke fly his X-Wing without R2 as support? He’d have to be on Dagobah too I suppose so sending Threepio to Jabba alone just doesn’t feel right either. He could have accompanied Leia to Tattooine perhaps. Yes, that could work, but how to get him in there? Obviously, Leia met up with Lando and Chewie so maybe it could be established that Threepio was already in the Palace with Lando. So when Boussh (Leia) arrives with Chewie, Threepio can make his appearance at last translating for Jabba.

I’m just a massive fan of how Morrison sounds (I played Republic Commando) but I don’t feel like making a custom version of TESB:R for the simple reason the recording of the lines isn’t very good in the SE.

No, both Morrison and Logan use their native New Zealand accents but Baker uses what he thinks is a New Zealand accent that sounds Australian through much of TCW. It only starts to sound more Kiwi into Rebels.
I think when Logan moved to LA, he was beginning to adopt an American accent, much like Martin Henderson years ago. As Dee Baker, yeah, maybe he should have researched the Kiwi (or specifically Maori) accent better. Heck, Sir Anthony Hopkins pulled off a convincing accent for The World’s Fastest Indian. There’s more to our accent than Aussies perceiving us saying fush and chups, lol.
Anyway, back on topic. Love that comprehensive list of early ideas. Looking forward to Ady’s official list, whenever it shall come…

Should he really be making a videocall? He is a bounty hunter I think that a little more stealth would be appropriate. How long would he be staying? Will he be eaten like in the OT? But blast himself out in time to see the rebels leaving the planet?

Seeing as many have suggested that ROTJ:R begin on Dagobah, maybe there oughta be a Purist Version of this movie too which actually does follow the original structure. But with an Alternate Cut of the movie, that’s where things will get really exciting. 😃
Regarding getting the Droids. I know Ady had intended on R2 NOT using his jet boosters but I actually wouldn’t mind it really. It’s just where he’d land on the skiff and of course, 3PO will end up getting picked up alone. Even if he doesn’t do it that way, I still wouldn’t mind.
When the droids enter the room, that whole time you can hear each of Greedo’s lines, in order.
I remember collecting the trading cards when the movie came out. There was this one specific card entitled ‘Beedo and a Jawa’ - where Beedo was clearly the Rodian.
Looking at when Luke swings his lightsaber around just doesn’t seem like the Jedi way to me. Maybe if he acted more in a defensive stance rather than acting all aggressive, but how could you even change something like that? Use a body double?! And also does it appear as if his saber is too long in certain shots?

Years ago a member called SSWR made a bunch of small, yet effective, edit ideas. I didn’t manage to get hold of all of them before he took them offline, but there are some nice small ideas for ROTJ.
As far as ewoks are concerned - I like the idea that they are a thematic tool to take the rebels to the back door, and to act as a lure to the imperial forces.
It was joked around years ago that C3PO should be painted green perhaps - it seems oddly impractical to take a bright gold protocol droid to Endor when you’ve got the rest of the team wearing camouflage.
I loved that heroic montage at the end. Certainly leaves the film open-ended, doesn’t it?
Hey Ady, when Luke and Vader are duelling on the Death Star, I don’t suppose you’re going to do something about Vader’s floating back somersault down the stairs after taking that kick from Luke? It just looks totally off to me now that I think about it. It’s clearly obvious that he’s on a wire.
I don’t recall whether there were many/any at all of the TIE Interceptors (or were they featured more in the games?). I reckon there should be more of those fighters in battle to accompany the traditional fighters. And I do like the idea of TIE Bombers on Endor too, btw.
I do like the idea of Luke constructing his lightsaber using the Force in possibly Ben’s Hut or on Dagobah if Ady intends on starting ROTJ: R there.
I too wouldn’t be opposed to Palpatine’s Super Star Destroyer appearing if need be. And I do like the idea of the Death Star not revealing itself till later in the film with mere glimpses leading up to the epic space battle. It would make for a nice reveal methinks.
So, the Victory Celebration theme isn’t going to be used (that I was already aware was going to be removed). I’ve been thinking now that Ady is no longer going to be working on the Prequels, what are the chances of maybe adopting ‘Across the Stars’ ending the film instead? It’s something that’s been going through my mind as of late.
Also, will that Dug (Sebulba) addition in Jabba’s Palace remain? Not that it was pointless, to begin with, but I didn’t mind it. Also, loving the idea of Leia giving Luke Padme’s necklace on which would later fuel Vader’s intentions of ending Palpatine once and for all. And Boba playing double agent through the film - guess it would give him some purpose I suppose.
I’m super glad that Ady is gonna remove “Jedi Rocks” and (hopefully) restore “Lapti Nek.” While I don’t hate “Jedi Rocks,” I feel it was disrespectful to remove “Lapti Nek” in the first place since it was composed by Joseph Williams, the son of John Williams. Imagine how pissed off Joseph must have been to have his only contribution removed from the movie.
Oh wow, I had no idea Joseph composed Lapti Nek. And to think he went on to become lead vocalist for Toto too. 🤘

Loved the addition of troops being deployed from a couple of the AT-AT’s and the way that AT-ST got squished. Bravo! Also, I never anticipated the transports leaving to the left rather than the right like the preview clips from earlier. Thought that was a nice touch as there are two bay doors after all.
And I also loved seeing all those ships evacuating Cloud City in the background too.
And furthermore - thank you so much for including my name in the credits. I am beyond thrilled, my friend. 😃
After watching this, I’m already anticipating how much more of an improvement ANHR is going to when you re-revisit that movie. Wow, take a good long break, man - you’ve definitely earned it.
