No naming names or anything, but what format(s) is this material on? Is it the full film, or just odds and ends?

When you say the DVD sections are untouched, do you mean you have not re-encoded them from 04 DVD? If so, what method did you use to join your edits to the original mpeg2?

To Editous, and others engaged in similar projects:

Are you re-encoding the entire movie, or only the parts you have changed. If the former, how the hell do you have the space? If the latter, how are you managing to join your re-encoded mpeg2s with the parts from the DVD, every method I have tried has introduced artifacts at the point of the join.

What have you replaced the shot of the rearing ronto with?

Have you painted out the probe droids?

How have you compensated for the missing frames when removing Jabba?

The crawl on the PAL DVD's is also the wrong speed, but correct on the alternate languages.

I would be very grateful if you could upload the Emperor sequence in Empire, and the finale (mos eisley, coruscant etc) from Jedi.

Also, I have ripped the alternate angle with no problems. This was done with osex.

I believe the Garrindan sequence is a cross fade, not a blind transition. I have been able to restore this using the DVDs by hand painting the missing frame elements back in on a frame by frame basis. I'll upload an mpeg if anyone is interested.

The idea of posting clips of problem areas is a very good one though. I am particularly after the "how long have you had these droids?" shot, which is now completely obscured by a ronto. Furthermore, if anyone has the german HD rip, perhaps they could post the discrepancies between the 1997 and 2004 versions. I know Grisan has posted Anakins ghost, but how about the old emperor, and the finale minus Naboo?

So, to recap:

The 2 channel PCM, actually contains further channels, that can be read and divided by a Dolby decoder/reciever, so you have split these channels and recombined them to 5.1?

I have heard some people talking about generating a 5.1 mix from the PCM audio track on the laserdisc. As far as I am aware, the PCM is 2 channel, so how is it possible to derive five (.1) isolated channels from it?

Any takers?
