 Without knowing the context, it's a little early to be running for the escape pods, don't you think? I don't believe Obi Wan sat around on his butt for twenty years in the desert, doing absolutely nothing, except for sending mental emails to Yoda, and communing with the Force.

Whatever the case may be, it still sounds like an incredibly weak idea to me; can't a Star Wars series work without a major character from the movies playing a huge part in it?

But even without this aspect, I've lost all interest in the show; except for the guy based on proto-Chewie, there's nothing -- absolutely nothing -- shown about this series that interests or appeals to me in the slightest (just the opposite, really).  

I just looked the film up on Wikipedia, and it says that Chaplin re-edited it in the '70s. That includes the score.

So this version is basically a special edition. =P

I'm celebrating by listening to the Def Leppard songs "Tonight" and "White Lightning" over-and-over again on a loop, trying to ignore the self-righteous religious ignorance/hypocrisy coming out the mouths of my stupid family, and wishing I had some collaborators to help me with the bajillion rewrites of various fictional franchises I want to create.

Meh. Nothing in that trailer visually engages me.

I, too, used to consider Boba one of the last Mandalorians. The way the character and the Mandalorians were handled following the release of AOTC eventually soured the idea for me, though, so now I just prefer to run with the "Boba Fett was Jaster Mereel" thing.

I think the Marvel comics did run with Boba being a Mandalorian, though (something about him being part of a team of Mandalorian commandos which served the Empire during the Clone Wars). With the relaunch of the EU in the '90s, that aspect of the character was jettisoned (until AOTC rolled around, anyway).

If only someone could add a search history and the option to search through individual pages to the forum ...

Lucas asked both of "the Davids" to direct Jedi and they both turned it down.

Interestingly, Empire's DP Peter Suschitzky eventually became Cronenberg's cinematographer.

Suschitzky recently shot After Earth. It would be cool to get him back to shoot another Star Wars movie.

Hmm ... I never knew that. Thinking about it, it would be interesting to see Cronenberg try to explore his themes of body horror within a SW film.
