I didn't have any prejudice feelings towards Batman pre-Begins that I know of, unless some snuck in there when I wasn't looking. I don't really dislike BATMAN himself. I love Comic Books, and although I haven't read Batman, I'm sure I'd enjoy the comics if I read them. But comic books and movies are just so different from each other, man. I mean, I wouldn't be EXPECTING as much from a comic book. Mindless action and cheesy characters are PART of comic books. But when it comes to film, after seeing movies like Requiem for a Dream or City of God, which LITERALLY changed the way I think, movies like Batman seriously PALE in comparison. Not just pale, but become translucent! When I said the thing about Batman Begins "changing my life," I wasn't making fun of people who say that (because I honestly haven't met anyone who said that), but rather was making fun of the fact that it didn't personally change MY life, which is what I've come to expect from movies these days.

That might sound kind of selfish, but when people feel passionately about something (as I do with film), people naturally tend to be a bit selfish. Look at us, we're all at "Original Trilogy." You can't get much more passionate than that. I'm sure there are several people who would think we're being "selfish" by wanting the original trilogy on DVD, and not just accepting what we're given, but we feel very passionate about the subject, so to us, it doesn't seem selfish at all. That might help give you a better idea of where I'm coming from.

Though, I guess it's really unfair of me to post a long paragraph about how you should judge things completely separate of each other, and then start comparing Begins to movies like Requiem, but honestly, it's hard not to man. Seeing as how I am seriously attempting to break into directing, and I take films very seriously, it's hard for me not to just LAUGH at something like BATMAN BEGINS (EXTREME ACTION COOL CARS), y'know? I guess I might (i don't think so, but it's possible) demand to much from a movie, but really, I just want to watch something that has more meaning than "wow, that's cool?"

Also, just because Nolan made it seem like Batman's story could happen in real life, doesn't make it any less corny or ridiculous. I mean, WHITE CHICKS could happen in real life, but that doesn't make the movie any better. And the whole "going into the psychology of Batman" thing is one of the things that I found to be really cheesy. It just felt so cliché. Like I said before, the entire movie felt like "OH NO, OUR HERO HAS GONE THROUGH SO MUCH PAIN, HOW CAN HE EVER OVERCOME THE GREAT ORDEALS OF LIFE!? I HOPE HE MAKES IT OUT OF THIS PICKLE!" And Christian Bale's acting really didn't help that feeling, as he had the same look on his face throughout the entire movie (except when he was batman, when he all of a sudden got REALLY ANGRY GRR). Seriously, people make fun of Keanu Reeves' facial expressions, but Bale's weren't any better in Begins.

Anyway, that is my two cents (i guess it was a bit more than just two but whatever).
