Hi all, I managed to track down Philfrog’s 30th anniversary EOJBC – on the hunt now for his 20th anniversary edition of Muppet Family Christmas but having trouble finding it…can anybody help me out? Or recommend a similar edit/reconstruction of that special? TIA

Hi folks, as a longtime fan of the original Emmet Otter I would LOVE to find Philfrog’s restoration to share with family this Christmas. Is there any chance someone might be able to point me to this? Feel free to PM if that’s possible or find me on Instagram at the same username @aphonik.

Thanks in advance!
Eric

Hi Eric,
I sent you a PM

This isn’t really an idea, but does anyone know where one could find an HD version of this tv spot?

It used to be on the Star Wars channel, but was removed.

Title: Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker - “Rey vs Ren” TV Spot
URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdVCjJPnaUs

I found a cropped-in version on the French Star Wars channel here.
And uncropped (and in English), the best reupload I could find is here (not ideal quality).

Excited to see it. But I’m so disappointed in the awful DNR and AI upscaling they’ve done. It looks absolutely horrendous. Waxy, artificial, and very unsettling. Plus it’s cropped to 16:9. Such a shame, because I’m sure the raw source looks 100 times better. Oh well. Of course I’m still gonna watch every second of it though, it’s the Beatles. 😃 Glad we get to see it in any form.

One last thing about Sebastian Shaw, it is possible for someone to take footage of Tobey Maguire’s head from movies and go frame by frame to turn him into Shaw.

Why are you so fixated on Tobey Maguire?? I’m confused.

Hayden the person? No. But I do hate the idea that Anakin reverts to his younger self upon his death because “that’s when he was good.” Anakin was on the “good side” when he died; that’s the whole point of ROTJ’s ending. He should appear as the version of himself that died saving his son from the Emperor IMO.

I agree that makes complete sense and would’ve probably preferred it kept that way, but to be honest George never told us that is the “idea” behind why he looked younger in the movies, that’s just fans coming up with a (very logical) explanation.

What if you looked at it through the lens that Anakin’s good side was trapped in his deformed, dying, suited body, which is all a result of him being evil. Now he realizes this and regrets it, so by reverting to his younger self, it shows he’s finally back at peace with himself before he destroyed himself. An older Anakin that’s not deformed doesn’t technically “exist” in this universe, as by the time he was old he’d already gone through the Vader transformation. Just ideas. Again, I still agree with you though.

Good points there. Obviously I don’t think his ghost should appear all burnt and mangled. The Shaw ghost in ROTJ is great. It kinda shows what Anakin could’ve looked like had he been a Jedi all along. Now that version of Anakin never physically existed, but it’s a great way to show that he “died a good man.”
To me, Shaw’s appearance is more ‘metaphorical,’ as that Anakin only existed in spirit, not physically. The young Hayden Anakin existed, and is explicitly a “pre-Vader” version, which doesn’t sit as well with me. But I suppose similar arguments could be made for the Hayden ghost as well (“it’s just a metaphor that he’s good again”), so perhaps my argument isn’t that sound 😂

Although I’d really love to see Shaw in the ‘phantom four’ scene, Hayden Christensen being aged up a bit solves my problem with him being “young pre-Vader Anakin.” He’s just another “what could’ve been” version of old Anakin like Shaw in ROTJ. And that’s quite alright with me.

Edit: And apologies for continuing this discussion again, Hal. I should’ve responded elsewhere 😘

So he should appear as Darth Vader.

Maybe you’re just teasing me, but I’ll clarify:
No, because he was no longer Darth Vader at that point. What I should’ve said was “he should appear as the age he was when he saved his son from the Emperor.” He turns back into Anakin before he dies, so to have his ghost be a pre-Vader version of himself “because that’s when he was good” completely misses the mark (IMO).

But I was talking about ROTJ. This discussion has nothing to do with Ascendant, let’s move on.

Do people seriously hate Hayden this much? Lol.

But I’m talking more about the ROTJ ghost there. For TROS it’s not the biggest deal for me. The reasoning of “if Lucasfilm would’ve done it, it would’ve been with Hayden” is 100% perfectly sound.

But discussion on a Shaw ghost should be moved elsewhere until the idea actually comes to fruition in some form.

I found a film that Sebastian Shaw was in called “The Weather in the Streets.” I don’t know if there is enough good footage for close-up shots for jonh to use if he’s making a version of the Force ghost sequence with Shaw, but it could be useful.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bh2mNK2tL_4

Skimming through I only found 1 short scene of a mustachioed Shaw lying in a bed. So probably not the best choice for source footage. I’ve gone digging for good shots of Sebastian Shaw before, and I haven’t found any that fit the bill unfortunately. Another option is to manipulate an image like what jonh did for Obi-wan (iirc), but there aren’t many good still images of Shaw available either.

Status is updated here whenever there is news to report:

https://www.thestarwarstrilogy.com/project-4k80/

It is still being actively worked on (as was actually explained in the post you quoted), if you check the last updated date, the status wheels were updated yesterday.

It’s done when it’s done, and frankly everytime somebody asks me “When’s it going to be done?” - which is no different to asking “how long is a piece of string?” because nobody can know the answer to that question - you only make it take longer - I could have cleaned another 24 frames of 4K80 in the time it took to answer this stupid question. Again.

You know that you’re posting/updating 4k80 to two forums? If you do not want ‘stupid questions’, then do not post/update to a forum. Post/update some way that doesn’t allow people to discuss/comment/ask questions.
Also, if you do not want people to ask ‘stupid questions’, then how about telling people not to ask for a completion date, or any questions on period of time to complete?
(I really do not understand why you post about your Star Wars projects to a forum, instead of something like a blog.)
(Also, I don’t see a point in saying ‘it’s done when it’s done’. Like, it just keeps things as vague as without saying such. If the case is that there’s no idea on period of time, weeks, months, years, it doesn’t make that clear by saying ‘it’s done when it’s done’.)

The information you were asking for is there if you just look for it. Learn how to read. You don’t need to post the same question (that has already been asked a million times) in three different places.
