Another Hobbit fanedit (Peter Jackson Edition) (* unfinished project *)
Time

I’ve still been tinkering with the video correction and it’s going to be better. The one in the screenshot comparison is artificial grain, but I’m planning on looping some natural grain I aquired a while ago, it just will take some time to do that. I’m currently focused on finishing my school year and getting the main editing done for both features.

I do plan on not having Peter Jackson as the main title. However, I do not agree that the versions of The Hobbit we got were Peter Jackson’s versions (even the extended cuts). I feel they are WB’s and New Line’s version. It is all due to this feature on the bonus features that made me feel lots of sympathy for Peter, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20vA9U7J2qQ , At least, that’s my two cents on it.

Rogue One: The Battle of Scarif fan edit (Released)
Time

I know it’s a bit late in the process, but if you want some new music for the edit, you should check the shadows of the empire soundtrack. I would also recommend the force unleashed soundtrack for more variety, but it doesn’t sound as professional or thought out as much as this one does, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8Lac1g3VJ8&index=2&list=PLk7tRLsSzeqPq23hOkoSp7XS6NN1wiouI

Denoise, Regrain And CC of ESB Grindhouse (Released)
Time

I downloaded and watch it today and it was fantastic. Quality work dude. My only complaints are the grain on the logos (particularly the 20th century fox logo) looks weird and the red of vader’s lightsaber at the end seems too desaturated and pink. Everything else though was extremely well done! I do wonder dreammaster, are looking into Harmy’s lpp scan of Return of the Jedi or at least, what your thoughts are on it?

Another Hobbit fanedit (Peter Jackson Edition) (* unfinished project *)
Time

Ok, so I got some good news and bad news… Good news is that everything is going according to schedule and I am almost done fixing audio issues and visual issues for my test screening! I also figured out a way to make the films match the LOTR films that I’m pretty sure no one else mentioned, but giving it that film look by not only adding grain, but blurring the picture a tinge. Bad news, I’m pretty sure that the release of this edit will be delayed as I found the color grading featurette on Fellowship’s extended edition, and I really want to match what they did (not fully, but partially). What I have in mind will take some time to finish, so I’m not sure if it will release near the end of spring or the end of summer, but I will know as soon as I do more tests. But I can release what I have once I feel confident enough for it to stand on its own. Hope you all have a pleasant day!

Another Hobbit fanedit (Peter Jackson Edition) (* unfinished project *)

Hello, quick update. So I’m on my second draft of the first movie and currently finishing up my first draft of the second one. Audio is a bit of a pain in the second one, but given a couple of weeks, it will sound better. I plan on doing a test screening in the coming months were I can get feedback from personal friends, and then, I will release my third and final draft to the fan edit community (in 2D). To keep you guys content for a couple weeks, here is my latest (and best) version of how the new color correction will look! I’m so excited 😃 !!!

'Beyond the Sea' U.S. Bluray (* unfinished project *)
Time

Little update, I bought the vudu hdx version and I have come across something interesting. They managed to obtain a copy with the image opened up to 1:85:1 seeing as the original was 2:35:1. So new plan going forward, I’m going to make three versions, one with 2:35:1 setting, one with 1:85:1 setting, and a changing aspect ratio one (for select mudical sequences and important scenes, basically an IMAX version).

Idea: The Great Gatsby (revisited)
Time

Ok, so I just want to put this idea out there and while I have multiple projects going on, I think this will be short and sweet. So I’m currently read The Great Gatsby in class, and the film is a guilty pleasure of mine, so I decided to rewatch it. It has aged quite poorly, but only because of the dated music. I also saw some problems with some of the weirder editing choices (as Baz Luhrmann does). My plan for this edit is to add better music to fit it, but here is the catch. I’m going to make four sources, which you (the downloader) can mix and match with mkvmerge or other apps. The four sources are two different video sources (2D & 3D) and two 5.1 DTS audio sources (one that has age appropriate music that fits the time more appropriatley. The other will use electro swing which I will personally prefer more. This version will be much more intune with the atmosphere that balances the book & movies styles, and certainly make those party scenes quite lively in that way that only Baz Luhrmann can achieve). I hope you enjoy the idea, while I finish up v.1 of my two parter Hobbit fan edit (just finishing color correction and video syncing). Then I will focus on preserving Beyond the Sea. This Gatsby edit should be a piece of cake compared to two three hour fan edits and a preservation. Btw, this is the album I plan using for the electro swing audio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5nD-8euqNN4

Another Hobbit fanedit (Peter Jackson Edition) (* unfinished project *)
Time

So for my next fanedit, I went into this thinking, what if Peter Jackson was more focused & had enough time to think on making The Hobbit films. My plan is to create two 2-3 hour movies from the whole Hobbit Trilogy. This is what Peter Jackson was originally planning ending the first film with them meeting bard. While the concept sounds very similar to The arkenstone & JRR Tolkien’s The Hobbit fanedits, I have two very distinct plans. I’m keeping part of the Legolas subplot & all of Radaghast subplot in (but removing all the silly/ridiculous elements of them) as fan service for LOTR fans. I’m also making a 3D cut of the films, seeing as that was a pivotal part of the film making process. I plan on color correcting them to remove green tints and make them more intune with LOTR. The 2D edit will have some grain on it as well (with possible digital dust specs as well). I also am going to have a DTS 5.1 mix with both films. I have my first cut of the first movie done, and am curently syncing hd footage with color correction to them. The first film should be out in around two months time. One thing I do need help with is uploading to myspleen so I can get my killing joke edit on there and eventually get this one on there as well… I cannot wait to share this with all my “fellow” LOTR and Hobbit fans! 😀

Do you think Disney will release the unaltered versions for DVD and blue ray?
Time

Kinda moving off topic a bit, but is disney still going to release the prequels on Bluray 3D? I remeber seeing multiple articles touching on this, (such as this one), http://www.geek.com/tech/star-wars-prequel-trilogy-coming-to-3d-blu-ray-rogue-one-in-editing-and-new-star-wars-tv-in-the-works-1664746/ , even though many would say it is a gimmick and many more be against because the prequels are not held in such high standard, it would be a shame to throw out all that hard work that conversionist did for it

With regards to the Itunes / Amazon digital releases, Disney put the original soundtracks back on itunes, but with different covers from the original release (basically the box art for the main digital release). You can tell this is the original because not only is the track listing the same as the original release, but they changed the release date to its original release date and THE COPYRIGHT DATE TO THIS YEAR!!! Good on you Disney!!!

The Force Awakens: 1.78:1 scenes in 2D? - with recreation of IMAX scene (Released)

I’m working on integrating the imax scenes into a video copy of The Force Awakens, but I need help on getting the proper settings for it to look like the original source, because everytime I encode it the grain looks fine until I get to the black scenes were all dark shadows and such become super pixelated… The editing software I’m working with is Adobe Premiere Elements 10

Can someone please help with this, I hate to be impatient, but its been over a week and I’m still waiting for a reply…
