- Idea: for a 'Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' (2005) edit...

I just finished reading the book for like the zillionth time (it’s probably my all-time favorite) and I got to thinking about the 2005 movie. I liked certain elements of it, but I also had my gripes. For instance, I absolutely loved the casting. Martin Freeman was a perfect Arthur Dent, and Mos Def was great as Ford, etc. etc. But I didn’t like the added love story (just too “Hollywood”) and I didn’t care for all the stuff between when Arthur and Ford reach the Heart of Gold and Magrathea. I love the first and last third, but that middle part on the planet with the people worshiping the god who sneezed out the universe (an homage to the books) was silly and just didn’t fit with the rest of the film. Some of the new elements I loved, like the point of view gun, and the scene on the planet where every time they think one of those metal things hits them was very Douglas Adams-ish.
My question is, would someone be up for editing the movie to not entierly remove, but greatly shorten and improve the pacing of the middle third? There’s some gems in there, like what I mentioned, but much of it is hidden in the rough. I don’t have the tools or materials to do an edit myself, but there are probably lots of you who could really strike gold with this.
Basically, I’d want to cut out anything that doesn’t feel like it from the mind of Douglas Adams. He wrote the first drafts of the film, and someone else finished it. The parts where someone else wrote it just feels jarring compared to everything else, and that’s what I’d cut out.

Well, don't go in expecting Raiders of the Lost Ark, as Blade Runner is pretty slow. I thought it was dull the first time I saw it, but now it's one of my favorite films. While it's extremely well made and will challenge you, what sets it apart, for me, is how atmospheric and ethereal it is. The score, the haze, the set designs, the camera angles. Just awesome.
I just finished watching the movie, (director's cut DVD) and I really didn't get it. It was slow, not much happened between beginning and end, and the ending didn't make sense to me. The only part I really, thouroghly enjoyed and thought was brilliant were the scenes with Rachael, when she found out she wasn't human. It was eerie, and brought up some strange concepts. When Deckard had his "unicorn" dream, I was a bit shocked. Was the movie suggesting he was a replicant too? But the movie didn't seem, to me anyway, to keep running with that concept. I thought that the acting, the cinematography, the effects, the music, etc. were all very, very well done.
Anyway, I went on Wikipedia and started reading some of their essays on the themes of the movie, and I started to get what the movie was saying. I have a much greater appriciation for it after reading about the themes, and I get why a lot of it was done like it was. When I have time, I'll watch the movie again, and maybe this time I'll have a better appriciation for it.

Well, that may be an exxaggeration, but it's definately the most original and innovative movie of 2006. I loved it. It was powerful, gripping, and moving. Clive Owen deserved an Oscar, and the movie deserved a Best Picture nomination, if not a win. The action scenes were unbelievable. I don't know if I'd call it the best movie of 2006, but it was one of my top favorites. I can't really imagine myself watching it over and over again because of the content, but it's an unbelievable movie nonetheless.

- Idea: Bourne Ultimatum edit?

The Bourne Ultimatum would then open with the scene where Bourne tells Marie's brother she's dead, to start the movie off on an emotional note. The film would then basically follow the exact same pattern as it did in the theatrical version, but, of course, the opening scene of him escaping from the cops in Moscow would never make an appearance. Opening with this scene, and with Bourne talking about finding the people who did this would open the movie emotionally, as well as with an "all business" theme, and would really start the movie off strongly.

Who Framed Darth Vader?
This is a new video I've made and is posted on YouTube. The link above will take you to the video on YouTube. If you like it, make sure to make all your friends watch it.
I made the video as a little birthday present for my Dad, who's turning 54 today. The video is also a partial parody of the style of my two mini-documentaries about the cancellation of Studio 60 from NBC, which can be viewed from by channel page.
Enjoy!

Eh, she was good in the parent trap, but in all her other movies, I think she just tries way to hard. I just cringe watching her try to be convincing on screen. I was babysitting some kids down the block the other night, and they were watching the movie Freaky Friday, which is a perfect example of Lohan trying too hard. In those types of roles ("average" teenager) she obviously has no idea what she's doing, because she has no life experiance in being an average teenager. They should do a movie where she plays a constantly drunk whore who is addicted to Cocain and checks into rehab just to get people off her back, sneaking coke and alcohol in the place. I bet she could nail that role.
....I thought I was cynical...
Hells yeah!

You must suffer from OCD, and your repeated "I'm leaving" posts are proof of that. I can also imagine you, right now, reading this post and banging your palms against your head, screaming at the top of your lungs.
