STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

Just a nitpick (but that's what it's all about right?) but the two laser bolts that hit at 3:07 and 3:10, just before the 3 ships enter the canyon, the dirt should blow up and OUT, not up then BACK DOWN. The gravity would be too small to have such an effect. Luckily this should be an extremely easy fix.

Other than that, beautiful work. I really wish you'd put out some sort of tutorial on your rotoscope techniques for the rest of us fellow editors. If I had a better understanding on how to do that I'd be doing way more Star Wars edit work on my own.

I must've missed the Killing of Lando. I guess when the time comes I (and anyone else) will just have to take that little tidbit out of the official Revisited ROTJ and make our own ROTJ:Rp (p=personalized). I did that with the ANH:R and I'll do it with the rest of the saga. I agree with about 90% of Ady's choices so I'll leave all the heavy lifting to him and put bugs around the lantern if he doesn't want to because I think it's a fantastic idea. It's not that hard if someone else really wants to do it and then share the scene with others to insert for themselves.

I found that editing is the easiest thing to do when it comes to fan edits. It's when you start adding CGI, rotoscoping, matte paintings etc. that it becomes difficult. If anyone really wants to keep Lando... then by all means, take a few days and figure out how to edit on some free software and get it done. He's dedicated at least 7 or 8 years so far to this and if you really want to make it EXACTLY how you like it then there are options that wouldn't take up but a few days of your time. I'm happy that in the end Ady will have the personal satisfaction knowing that he and the rest of the team produced something that is worthy of their time and efforts. I just wish I had more time to dedicate so I could be a part of the team and help out. As it is, I casually offer suggestions and support and have done so for many years.

But now that I know Ady intends to kill Lando (for real???) I just have to say.... WHAT THE FRACK ARE YOU THINKING!!!! Sorry, accidentally hit Caps Lock.

Yeah I saw the above post on facebook. You asked for no threats of physical violence... does a force choke count? I mean, that's not really touching the guy ;-)

Anyway, I was looking through some old clips and saw something that I can't recall ever being addressed...

When Capt. Needa is choked out and falls to his knees, the metal grating that his knees hit 'buckle' as he lands, indicating that the grate is not actually a hard metal surface. It's still in the clip that you posted so has or will that be changed?

I've always been bothered by that because not only does it take away how hard he seems to hit the ground but also it doesn't seem to match the low 'thud' sound effect.

Ady, my 11 year old son just made a keen observation. If you're going to go back and revisit the Prequel Trilogy, what are you going to do if the Sequel Trilogy also sucks? I mean, what's your overall goal here? To fix ALL Star Wars films or just the first 6? Hell, there's at least 5 coming out by 2019. That's a whole lot of roto work.

Let's look at it this way. The original plan was to fix the simple errors in the OT and hopefully fix the story, acting, and entire feel of the PT which would have fixed the entire Star Wars Saga. But now the reality of the Saga has changed, we're getting 5 movies in 5 years. It took almost 30 years to get that many films previously. My question, and it's one that's bothered me for years while following your work, is this: If the Sequel Trilogy only needs minimal work compared to the OT, would you consider working on those instead? I'm hypothesizing of course that they'll need work (lens flare overload perhaps). So that's my idea, either delay or abandon altogether your plans to fix the OT. I don't truly know if you have some impossibly good ideas that you feel could actually make the OT good movies or just movies that suck less than they do currently. If you can't truly make them into good movies, then what's the point? Seriously, how in the world can you make Hayden Christensen do anything but have a laughable performance? I've seen almost every fan-edit and he sucks ass no matter what .I have little doubt that VII, VIII, IX will be better than I, II, III and will need less work and I'm fairly confident they'll start out as good movies. You won't be working from a broken narrative.

You started this, what?... almost 9 years ago? I've been around for 7 or 8 of those years and the whole time I've never once wanted to see you work on the PT and I'm a huge fan of your work. I instead always wanted a trilogy cut from TCW tv show with an entirely new narrative. I believe you'd be pretty good at something like that.

Just my 2 cents. I hope you at least think about it. We all care about the OT so much more than anything else and once you're finished with those, I just hope you and the ever-expanding crew of yours choose the best way to spend the time, effort, and resources.

Perhaps premature but I was thinking about when ESB:R comes out (Whenever that will be) and a special way to celebrate this FanEdit of FanEdits.

Maybe everybody could watch it at the same time?

If Ady put it up to download on a Friday morning, everybody downloads it but then everybody could pledge not to watch it until say, exactly 2pm on the Sunday. Then everybody could be live-tweeting while watching it and then all hit this thread at 4pm? Get family and friends round, a BBQ, beers etc. Everybody could register their participation. It could be a record breaking worlwide online premiere thing.

Obviously holding off watching it for a couple of days would be a test of everyone's willpower but it would be a cool thing on the sunday. What does everyone think? Does anyone have a better idea? More immportanty what do you think Adywan?

(p.s. Live commentary??)

I LOVE THIS ^^^^^^^

Maybe you should get up with Ady and 005 and see if he can organize something like this. He's really good at that kind of shite. I'd be totally willing to hold off for a few days to ensure the maximum number of people would get it. I'd max upload speed for utorrent to get the torrent out for others as quickly as I could. I'd be willing to help any way I could so feel free to ask anytime.

I can't remember one way or the other; will the added shots of people and buildings in the plaza, when Lando gets on the intercom and asks for attention, stay in or be removed? I've never liked the SE people in the hallway shot. The rest of it is OK (not great) but it's never irked me.

Fair enough. It's not criticism for the sake of criticism. I think you realize that. I doubt seriously you want anything but honest critique for the sake of perfecting it. After all, this, in the end, will be the definitive edition that will be in many people's collection and handed down to the next generation after we here at OT.com are all but forgotten. Collectively, it's my opinion that all the points of view help narrow down what stays and what goes for the betterment of the edit. Keep up the good work and remember that we're all in this for the shared love of Star Wars. There's not a whole lot of people in the world who understand our mutual obsession to perfect these films.

Have any of you seen the shot in motion? His movement is fine. Nothing to worry about.

No, we obviously haven't seen it but what does "fine" mean? Does that mean he mimics the movements of the original? The hands on the hips thing is a little piece of theatre that shows his impatience, not unlike a parent who is frustrated at their children OR it shows a little bit of his satisfaction, just like he did when he entered the Tantive IV Blockade Runner. Either way, I've always liked it and changing it seems to change the original feeling in a way that seems completely opposite of what I've come to expect from Ady.

Though I trust you 005, it just seems that either we're getting a misleading screen shot or it's a judgement of "fine" that some of us may or may not agree with.

As far as the trooper dialogue goes, I wouldn't use the "Do you know what's going on" but I'll have to say it was pretty funny.

Ones to keep:

1. "Yes Sir" - inside AT-AT

2. Modified version of "Stop that ship" - SOMETHING would be nice there. Somebody said soldiers don't talk during the heat of battle and that's wrong. They're yelling commands and tactics the whole time if it's a fluid battle.

3. Modified version of "Follow Me" - When he shoves Leia something like "Move it" would work for me. Perhaps another "I said MOVE IT" when they're trying to pull Leia inside the door.

4. "It's them" - But I'd move this to the first trooper that got shot instead.

5. "Blast them" - But move to the instant before R2 blasts his smoke. A trooper waves his arms for the others to move forward. Right there would work with the body language.

I know Ady probably won't use any of these ideas but: Maybe some "Uhgs" and "Arghs" when troopers are shot. They have always seemed like target dummies in ESB and ROTJ. It'd be nice to beef up their collective character a little. If not for the official audio then certainly for an alternate one. I like these ideas for a more liberal edit.

I doubt very seriously that Ady would add a line for any reason but continuity's sake. Changing it like he did in ANH:R to "Blast it Wedge! Where are you?" made sense. Same thing goes for Rogue 3 in the Hoth battle. To add a line in this edit would be a little more loose and liberal than Ady's willing to go I believe. Save that for the other edits.

Anyone else think Ady's just sitting on his hands enjoying watching another "great debate" unfold? It's been so long since there's been anything worth arguing over on this board that it's good to see again. Am I the only one who wants ROTJ:R to start just so there's fresh things to fight over?

That fact that it may have been blue in every single iteration still doesn't mean that just because they used a shot that was blue that it wasn't a shot that was meant for some place else but reused out of it's original context. I argued this earlier.

Narratively, it doesn't work. Perhaps you should poll everyone to see which way it should go since the opinions are fairly split on this one. I think I'm done with this snowflake from now on.

Yeah, coloring or not from the original, I don't think it was ever meant to be the Executor. As an editor, there is too much evidence that this is supposed to be a regular SD. If it were ever shot as a blue tower, then it is extremely likely the original intent was for it to be the Executor BUT as editing went along they ditched the original intent and used the shot to show a bridge conning tower of a regular SD.

It's been done several times in this film. Just look at the setup of the Rebels on Hoth as they prepare their rifles. The blaster cannons behind them were already on fire before the battle even began. Or when Han peeks up to look at the probe droid. The snow in front of him already had debris from the probe droid.

These examples show that is was common on this show to use shots out of its original intended context and placed elsewhere regardless of small continuity errors. As an editor myself, it makes zero sense narratively to place the Executor tower at that point. If it were to be a 'fin in the water' type thing then it was done very poorly in an otherwise brilliant lead up to the reveal of the Executor. I think in this instance it'd be wiser to forego the blue and keep the coloring more in line with that of a regular SD.

Just my two cents. Fortunately for me, if I don't like it the way it ends up I can just change it to suit my own wants. I did that with ANH:R and I suggest anyone else do the same for themselves. It's not that hard to change a few little things if you really want to.

Someone a long time ago (Angel probably) posted a video if a view screen in the AT-AT. I loved it and shoulda saved it. It worked and looked great. I'm excited to see the new hologram though.

I was absentee from the internet when some bullshite happened with that Angel dude. Can someone pm me and give me the lowdown? All I know is that he got pissed or something and took off to another site or some shite like that. I liked his work even if he was a little heavy-handed with his opinions on stuff. And please, no need to start it up again. I just want to be filled in and move on.
