I then transfered up to Michigan and changed my major to Communications/Film and Video in my Junior year (couldn't cut the chemistry and math needed for Biology). I have 5 classes left and graduate in December.

Fair enough. I just didn't want Jag to assume that, because you were 23, you had spent five years in college, as that might not be true.

and some programs actually take 5 years. I know my school had a program where you get your Bachelor and Masters degrees and it took 5 years.

Technical writing is the writing of anything technical. Reports, journals, books, manuals...it's pretty broad.

I wrote a user manual once...that was the opposite of fun

Redbaron (and others),

Well, guess thats all cleared up for the most part. I didnt have the comics in front of me so pulled up all the issue numbers and such from www.spiderfan.org THX you seem pretty knowledgeable on the Spider-Man comics, big fan?

They did restart the numbering after i think (from memory) #441, this was v2 which ran for 58 (or 60 have conflicting info) issues. it was then returned to v1 (which is current) and i believe they picked up the numbering from 500 (where v1 would have been if v2 was all part of v1). Im not sure on this so if anyone knows for sure that would be great.

I do know that some stories were reprinted under different titles, but you said the title of yours is The Amazing Spider-Man[\i] so i am at a loss as to why it would be number 6. though based on what you posted it seems they did keep the real issue number on there.

whats strange is i remember the scene with MJ saying she's going to the beach, but i remember it from one of the ones before we finally see her but her face is obscured. I thought that was the first time they showed her, but ive only read the first 110 comics.

I know its played here (at least some games). I remember a few years ago my brother had the last game taped because he couldnt watch it for some reason. Not sure if he didnt get the channel or what it was, but ill ask him and my parents to see if they know what channel it was.

Also, as far as the cable thing, could always sign up for one of those sports packages...though not sure if they include soccer (but probably do since they have a ton of channels)

Help Wanted: Star Wars films with audio description. Can anyone help out??
Time
here's the reply I got from the Library.

I am sorry to say our collection of films with DVS is rather limited we only have eleven titles.

But our neighbor the State library for the blind and physically handicapped has a much larger collection.

You can contact them by phone at 410-230-2424 or e-mail them at recept at lbph.lib.md.us

According to their website they should have Star wars IV a new hope, or just Star Wars depending on how you like to think about it.

If they do not have the other two titles please contact us and we will search further for them.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

I have sent an inquiry to the email address they supplied for the other library

I've seen the complete series and enjoyed it. I do think they copped out at the end, but the series as a whole was good. The growing 2 extra pairs of arms actually happened in the comic (just recently read that one) and it also included Morbious. i found the similarities that were there amongst the many differences interesting.

Yeah, in the animated series of Spider-Man, GG threw MJ into a portal and she disappeared. She returned later on in the series without so much as an explanation, but then I guess, what else is a portal good for, other than safe-keeping?!

they explained it, the cartoon mixed in the whole clone thing, sandman got some scientist to clone MJ but she was kinda like him, but still loved peter and tried to find him...blah blah blah, she ended up not being able to hold her molecules together.

then other stuff happens, some more fun portal stuff, Spidey finds out from Madam Web that MJ is still alive, so the series ends with him setting off to find her. last episode has him go to another alt universe where he meets up with Stan Lee, and it pretty much ends there. they could have taken it to another season, it was kind of a cop out ending

And Darth Simon, what the heck are you talking about? Hobgoblin was introduced WAAAY later in the comics than Green Goblin...in fact, I read the issue that introduced the Hobgoblin nought but a few days ago - GG and Doc Ock were mentioned in the past tense within the first few panels. Funny thing is, the same issue introduces MJ as well!

so did I, unfortunatly i had a break between #10 and #11 and then proceeded to read about 100 spidey comics in about 2 weeks, so i may have totally confused myself cause of a spidey overload.

*edit* though you're not totally correct either. Green Goblin first appears in #14 with MJ's first mention being #15 We then see MJ first in #42
the first issue with hobgoblin isnt until #238. So yeah, i made a mistake, must of been talking about the cartoon where hobgoblin is one of, if not the first enemy spidey fights that got me all confuzzeled, but your info above isnt qhite accurate either

that may be true, but i also think that the loss of one of the main characters can hurt the series too much. I mean if what someone (forget who) suggested earlier is the case (Dunst leaving so replacing MJ with Gwen) I like that approach better than recasting MJ as a way of keeping things going, unfortunatly i feel there is too much going on.

The way i would have done it (at least the first 3, more if i could keep them as good as the first 3)

1) way it was done
2) way it was done (possibly inserting more of connors and his research in, maybe have peter work in his lab helping with research, obviously missing lots of work cause of his spider-man identity)
3) if 2 was done the same, then id say go to harry as green goblin (maybe hobgoblin to add a 'new' villian (though hobgoblin was first, wont get into that though...)), though this could wait till a 4th movie in which case the more connors in 2 would come in, and do lizard as 3rd movie with green goblin II in 4

Raimi hasn't let me down. But bringing Gwen Stacy in at this time is bad mojo. It doesn't look like they have any plans of wrapping this up. I thought it was a trilogy - to end with III. Looks like money wins again, and I'm afraid the franchise will suffer for it.

I remember reading that Sony wanted to expand it to be six films instead of just three. Talk about overkill.

I agree there, i mean, yeah, spidey has a ton of material/story line to work with. but i think as a general rule, anymore than 3 films in a series is pushing it (though there are exceptions), but a trilogy just seems to work best.

especially with spidey how the basically simplified (well drastically simplified) his love life and combined his 2 major love interests into 1 character and took MJ who he ends up with (only cause Gwen died).

there is just too much spidey stuff that the best approach is to take the major events that any casual fan would know about and making them 3 movies. Hence the Green Goblin as his first enemy (even though he fought Doc Ock first). Otherwise it would just be too long and you risk it going downhill because people loose interest (actors, directors, studio, even fans). Hence my problem with the venom story, way too much for one movie, its at least a 2 movie set on its own.

Dont get that last statement, mysterio would be cool to see in the movies (and he was in the comics).

I know this should be in the spidey thread, but villians id want to see (besides the one mentioned above)

Vulture (his second super villian (chameleon was first), Lizard (we got conners already, i want the lizard), I also think a battle with Kraven could be good, and they could do something with Morbious...heck most of Spidey's superpower enemies would be fun to see.

yeah, i got the issue too, i never did read it, its in the box with all my other comics though.

any idea how he turned into pure energy? im home this coming weekend so maybe ill grab some of my comics from my parents.

A massive assumption is being made ... that IMDB is in any way a good resource for information on films that are still in production. It isn't.

I'm not saying it is, im just saying that if that truely is the plot then i dont have high hopes.

the cartoon series.

a) 99.99% sure harry didnt fall in the portal
b) MJ didnt die in the cartoon (explanation is somewhat of a spoiler, but i can post it if you want)

redbaron, nice quote there.

I read superman for all seasons a while back when it first came out, thats at the time that i was partially drawn back into the comic scene. Id probably get into it now if i could afford it. From what i remember it was good. I read the novelization of Death and life of Superman and that spurred me to get the comic (i got the tpb i think their called, all the comics put together in one book) good read.

anyone remember this re-invention of superman

from what i remember he didnt take with fans too well and they scrapped him.

*Remembers it 's just a fun game and calms down*

OK, rant over.

ooops, i meant to vote for han, i fixed my post hopefully i did so before it was tallied. as i explained in my post (edited) i copy paste the matchups and removed the one i didnt want, except i removed the one i did want on the last matchup cause i was thinking luke so highlighted luke

I haven't read enough of the actual batman comics to comment on this, but being almost a quarter of the way through Spider-Man (the first series, The Amazing Spider-Man) I have to say Peter has a pretty tragic life.

HSvIJ how do you mean he squandered it? By not stoping the thief that ends up killing his uncle? That may be true, but after he realized that he uses his power to save people, even thoughs that hate him and make him out to be an enemy. I'm sure batman isn't friends with every good guy (news outlets, police, and such) but he chooses to do it. I know Spidey choices to but his life as Spider-Man greatly effects his personal life and relationships. He has no one to confide in (well at least not till the later issues, but im not that far yet) and his dual identity is constantly driving people away and hurting those he loves the most. Plus he's always broke (a problem Bruce Wayne never has)

So if your just referring to the event that made them become the super-hero they are thats one thing, but if you're talking about their life as a whole, i think Spidey wins hands down (at least as far as im concerened with what i know about the two characters). You may be able to argue that The Bats isnt quite right in the head, but it wouldnt be too hard to say the same for Peter, Spider-Man protects the city from criminals, risking his life, only to be hated by the majority of the town, and to alienate those he cares about the most. I dont blame him on the countless times he almost gave it up (hence his staying spidey could classify him as a nut job)
