STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

Angel, that's hot, hot, hot. I like it, lol :P

I know it was mentioned ages ago, but is there actually confirmation that the pillar that Vader hits (before cutting Luke's hand off) has been corrected to have a burning mark running around it? I know there should be added scorch marks on the wall, but I was just wondering whether those scorch marks are constantly there or whether they'll fade out a bit afterwards. Personally I hope those scorch marks are ever-present. Sorry if I've confused you through my convoluted sentence-structuring, but I gotta get back and see if my roast is cooking perfectly :)

I don't follow the EU. Please tell me there are some stories about me.

As far as I know, you're only in The Phantom Menace novelisation. Those at LucasBooks must try to get some Olie adventures written (novels, comic-books and graphic novels etc), we seriously need them. We have to know more about the waning days of the Old Republic and you'd be the perfect poster boy for that. :)

Or Ric Olie? Better yet, why couldn't they clone me instead of Jango. Can you imagine a legion of Ric Olies marching on your enemies? How overwhelming would that be?

"I just shot you. Now you are dying. Look, you are dead."

RIC OLIE TROOPER: I have been pre-programmed to execute Order 66 which is designed to....

MACE: Never mind that, just get to work.

RIC OLIE TROOPER: Fine. Oh you have a lightsaber in your hand, therefore you must be a Jedi. I have been pre-progammed to serve you and then later on my fellow troops and I will have to....

MACE: Trooper! Please, get to work! (points at a control panel)

RIC OLIE TROOPER: Ok. You're pointing at that control panel. I will now go to that control panel and I will figure out what to do next because I'm pre-progammed to....

MACE: (facepalm and sigh)

Will there be more shots of Dagobah in the edit? I'd like to see Dagobah more opened up for some scenes. It really feels to crowded and "on set." In one of the first scenes it shows Dagobah nice and open with some atmoshere to it.

Where can this Yoda meditation scene be seen?

Well if you were Sylar (from Heroes) then you could easily see it in Ghost's mind with one of your powers :)

I actually think that it's not such a bad idea, but I agree with The Golden Idol that it would break the pacing of the movie (Yoda's been and done in the movie as it is - what we see at the end is the extent of the training he's given Luke through the Saber duel and Luke being unprepared for a certain truth).

One slight problem with your mockup, Bingo. If you're to take background info into consideration, the Quarren and the Mon Calamari really don't like eachother. Now i know this doesn't come across in the movies, but I've always though the quarren look evil so my small criticism still stands :)

You beat me to that point :)

And here's part of the ugly history they share with one another (from the 2003 animated Clone Wars micro-series) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7Z9Y-q4H5A

Gotta admire Fisto's smile there at the end :D

Loved that series. Really wish the new Clone Wars series was more like that.

I loved it too - mainly because I grew up with Genndy Tartakovsky's cartoons in the mid-late 90s (like Dexter's Lab) and because there's something really special about it (the style - Genndy's style basically).

The story arc was also very good.

Haven't seen enough of the new 3D series to compare them - but I know what you mean.

Chronus, you are perfectly entitled to enjoy the prequels as is anyone else. I might actually enjoy them too. But the idea is that you don't change things up story-wise or character-wise just so you can have another fx shot.

I mean, these films need all the character they can get. They're not character pieces and as such need the subtle moments, the visual moments(like Luke walking into the palace) that help define character, to get those ideas across.

You lose those subconscious triggers if you just examine the film at face value.

That's why some of today's films with fantastic fx don't work and some with good, but not great, fx do. It's all in how it's put together, under the surface and with story, pace, and dialogue, not just the cool stuff that's cool because it's cool.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. I just meant that it was a missed opportunity for the prequels to have certain elements lost or taken away (that were actually written in their respective novels). It's a rather funny thing, but I felt bags of emotion and coherence in the actual novels - Attack of the Clones was actually the most joyous one to read and Revenge of the Sith was the best written. The Phantom Menace had some great stuff in it in terms of pacing and dialogue (some that was ommitted from the film), but it is actually the weakest of the film novelisations (although still a good read). And I'm actually talking about the Del Rey teen/adult novels as opposed to the childeren's versions :)

I really don't believe so much in 'the cool stuff that's cool, just because it's cool', because it does seem shallow if that's all one would think about.

Now let's talk about mock-ups! :D

These movies arent just 80's movies anymore, there a part of a saga. In 20 years, these movies will be considered as a saga, not classic 80's movies

I don't know why you guys are so afraid of adding CG to an alredy strong plot. Cleaning things up would greatly enhance viewing and make them feel new.

That's not what I was saying. I was saying that no matter what you do, these movies will always look and feel like they were made when they were. There is absolutely no getting around that, it's beyond the ability of any fan editor, any editor period, to change the feel/style of the movie with the available material. The only way to do that is to totally reshoot it.

As for adding CG to an already strong plot, well, you said you'd like a pretty CG scene of Luke adding. Well, for what? If it doesn't add anything to the plot, it shouldn't be included. If you don't get that, then there's no point discussing it. The point I was making was that CG or any FX are totally pointless if they aren't necessary to the story. Us seeing Luke travelling across a desert might be beautiful, but it has to be necessary to the plot. And it isn't.

Ghost

Do people watch the movies because of the story and characters with cool shit thrown in or for the cool shit with story and characters thrown in?

That's not why these movies are still popular.

Watch an fx reel if you want some fx porn.

I for one can feel the emotion in the OT - that's mainly why they have endured for so long. The themes in the trilogy are powerful and even thought-provoking (the latter rings true in Empire). I know how you feel shanerjedi.

I'm gonna get verbally abused for saying this - but I can feel some of that same emotion in the prequels (which builds up quite nicely in ROTS). However some of the things mentioned in the prequel novels could have been portrayed on screen and missed their chance at making them more potent.

I digress lol; I suppose one can't be that amped on CGI :D

A bit of news: Revenge of the Sith finally makes it's terrestrial TV premiere (or free to air TV) in the UK. ITV are doing their yearly Star Wars 'marathons' (they're actually one movie each Saturday) and it's gonna kick off next Saturday - with The Phantom Menace :)

A medal? I like the way you think. We should get Ady on this.

I knew you would approve Ric :)

Anyway - I was wondering what Geonosis should look like when it's all colour corrected. I've seen Angel's mock-up pics on them - with that awesome looking 'acid' feel to the whole atmosphere and am wondering whether there are any more ideas on what it should look like. Personally I love Angel's representation of it. :)

Should we rotoscope Willow in the movie as Dooku's pilot when he escapes Geonosis...

Why not rotoscope good old Ric Olie in there - I'm already a pilot, and familiar with PT-style acting.

Yeah, you can be the one who 'alerts' everyone in the battle that Dooku is escaping! :)

DOOKU speeds off on his speeder and rides on the dunes of GEONOSIS towards DOOKU'S SECRET HANGAR

RIC OLIE: (on a megaphone) DOOKU is escaping, he's heading towards that hangar on the north east sector! He is riding on a speeder, on sand! On Geonosis sand! Yes that's right!

YODA is at the FORWARD COMMAND CENTRE, GEONOSIS

YODA: Hmmm. Dooku, get away he shouldn't. Give medal to this loudspeaker man, I will.

ANAKIN and OBI-WAN are in CRUISE-SHIP 1 with PADME and CLONE TROOPER 7

ANAKIN: Hey I recognise that voice.

OBI-WAN: It sounds like the guy I once laughed at because he said 'Sheild Generator's Been Hit!'

ANAKIN: Ric said that?

OBI-WAN: Oh this was before we picked you up.

ANAKIN: Oh, well there's Dooku! Ric is a genius.

OBI-WAN: Oh yeah absolutely (laughs).

The only way Luke on a speeder bike would make sense is if he and Obi-Wan have their conversation in Ben's hut. Then from there have him ride a speeder bike across Tatooine. With a lot of editing, that could be an ok possibilty.

But I would rather have a pretty CG scene of Luke flying in and across Tatooine.

Wow, I'm feeling a rather big generational gap between the two of us.

I think I'm gonna agree with Ghost on that - and I hope that me being a 19 year old guy has nothing to do with that :)

It probably had a lot to do with that, but I don't mean that to patronise you. In the 19 years you've been growing up, movies have changed a lot because of CG, and in many ways it's for the worse.

Like any tool, CG can be used effectively and it can be used unsuccessfully, but too many filmmakers have dumbed down to ONLY showing pretty CG stuff, at the expense of character, story and so on. Movies that use CG only to augment those essential qualities are welcome, those that don't are, for a lot of people, unwelcome. What good are beautiful images within a movie if all they are doing is wasting time? Beautiful CG I can appreciate, but when it's getting in the way of a story, I don't want to see it.

I dare say nearly everyone in this industry I've ever worked with feels the same. And also the deep frustration when their work is rendered dramatically impotent.

I can see what you mean dude. There have been a lot of bad, crappy films for the almost-2 decades that I've grown up (and a lot of them have invested a huge amount on CGI). However I'm glad to see that certain films have become classics in their own right because they had great CGI effects as well as a great story that the effects didn't get in the way of. Terminator 2 is a great example - I wasn't old enough to appreciate it when it came out being a baby, but when I did see it, I thought it was great. I was 10 when Gladiator came out, but I caught it on VHS and thought it was pretty cool (since I wasn't allowed to go and see a '15' rated film at the cinema obviously). 'Toy Story' and 'Batman Forever' must have been the first films I watched on the big screen (aged 5). Toy Story was obviously 100% CG animated and I loved all of it (it's not here as an argument to your reasoning - I'm actually talking about my childhood days now, sorry) and Batman Forever was pretty cool too (in fact I still like that film, despite it's colourfulness compared to Burton's films - and Nolan's gritty realism).

Ok, I'm going off on a tangent - but the last 20 years in film have been pretty good overall, but it probably may not match the grandeur of the 1980s.

Anyway in other news.....200TH PAGE DUDES! LET'S PARTY!

The ANH one is done unless someone can supply a hi-rez image of that forgotten poster... ESB is gonna get the front revamped to higher rez and Jedi is here... (removing the special edition font and going for the classic font (the chunky boxed version didn't look good so went with the other one... I think it looks good though)...

All covers will be available for download when I'm done!

Now that cover for Jedi is awesome! Great touch-up to the title; I love the old style version of it (it could be a little bigger I suppose - but that might fight with the Death Star II in the background).

I wish I could find that ANH poster in high-res, though I'm sure one of us will be able to find it soon enough.

Can't wait to see the final versions dude, keep up the good work.
