Petition for the Theatrical Cuts of the Original Star Wars Trilogy on Blu-ray
Time

You know, like my signature states, I don't give three billion shits to Star Wars anymore. I'm not signing anymore petitions for it. Know what I would sign a petition for actually? To get Tucker: The Man and His Dream or even WILLOW onto Blu-ray first. What about Labyrinth? OH, you Lucas jerk-offs forgot it was a LucasFilm Ltd. feature since all everyone does is bitch and moan about "WHERE'S MY OOT ON BLU-RAY DISC FORMAT?! I WANT MY DIAPER CHANGED!" Fuck the lot of you for Lucas to prioritise Star Wars over everything else.

Case in fucking point, when Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was released on the HD consoles along with everything ELSE, my hope would be for the upcoming, at the time, Indiana Jones game would also be released for HD consoles. NOPE, too fucking bad for someone like myself who prefers Indiana Jones over Star Wars!

I've sold everything I have which is related to Star Wars and don't regret it one single iota. Got good money for it too. BLASPHEMY you'll all cry and moan. I. DO. NOT. GIVE. A. FLYING. FUCK.

So fuck you very kindly and when the Indiana Jones Trilogy finally gets released onto Blu-ray, I'll be one happy monkey. Series burn-out is a bitch, isn't it?

Once and for all: best project settings in Vegas!
Time

I'd assume leaving off the Noise Reduction settings to 0 will help alot if there's an option. Film should look like film hence film grain contains the detail of the picture. If the film in question uses an extremely high amount of DNR, well, look at the NTSC Region 1 DVD Special Edition of DIE HARD: With a Vengeance as to how a film should NOT be encoded.

Info: Brotherhood of the Wolf/Le Pacte des Loups - Extended Cut?
Time

I guess all it’d be would be the Director’s Cut with all the deleted footage added back in. All 40 minutes, making the running time from 150m to a proposed 190m Extended Cut/Edition. Dual layered and IN FRENCH WITH ENGLISH SUBS!

I’d love to see this happen and try to take this on but my editing skills are nil.

In my possesion are: 3-Disc Collector’s Edition (CAN); HDDVD (UK); Director’s Cut 2-Disc (USA). I’m awaiting the eventual Blu-ray release and of course this custom Extended Cut/Edition.

Blu Ray movies NOT worth buying
Time

Sky, STARGATE: 15th Anniversary Edition is receiving a brand new remaster of which the title will be released onto October 27th. The release I owned just had the film on a single layer BD which was encoded with MPEG2. There's no doubt the 15th Anniversary release will be using AVC since it's what the Optimum UK BD Region B release used.

Even though I wouldn't purchase it seperately, I'm buying Planet of the Apes (1968) which I highly want and sub-par BD-25/MPEG2/Commentary-only release of PotA (2001) from Amazon as a double thing for only $25.99. I'm still keeping the nice and fancy 35th Anniversary shiny digipak (2.35:1 of course) of PotA 1968 and 2-Disc Special Edition of PotA (2001). I figure this will give me an excuse to gradually purchase the Planet of the Apes sequels on Blu-ray disc. But if I had a choice, I'd never currently buy Planet of the Apes (2001) seperately and would wait for a double dip. Yes I did enjoy Tim Burtons version and of course the 1968 original.

Another nominee for the shitlist is PATTON since it was scrubbed of film grain. I can't think of any others at the moment. Getting tired.

I sold my Limited Edition trilogy DVD and that Bonus Material from the 2004 boxset two days ago. STAR WARS is done for me.

I don't even care when it's released onto Blu-ray disc. There's a different Trilogy of which I'm anticipated more on Blu anyway which is from Lucasfilm Ltd. which is Indiana Jones.

I'll even freely admit I'm way more of a fan of Indiana Jones compared to Star Wars anyway. I even rightfully enjoyed KotCS and that's my own fucking opinion. I even sold my DVD of it to get around to buying it on Blu-ray disc. What's that? I can't like KotCS since it's not like the other three films? I have my own damn opinion thank you kindly.

Yeah, I've even posted more on this forum in several Indiana Jones threads compared to Star Wars ones!

I DON'T A FUCK!

That was a strangely pointless post. Not knocking it, half my posts are pretty pointless, but this is such an amusing post, I feel strangely compelled to pointlessly respond to it.

I actually agree with you Gryphon, I gave up on SW a long time ago. I am not even sure if I would even really be all that excited if I heard the original unaltered trilogy was being given a wonderful restoration and being released on Blu-ray. But I could also equally care less about Indiana Jones. For some strange reason I bought a used copy of KotCS for $2.99 the other day, and now I am trying to figure out what to do with it... the thought of actually trying to watch it a second time kind of makes my stomach hurt, but I am sure I will eventually find a way to put it to good use.

Just strange that your post sounded so defensive, as far as anyone here is concerned, you are free to like or not care about anything you want.

Also I am glad to hear you don't a f***. Celibacy is a long and hard road, it is not for everyone, but I hear it can lead to good things and be very rewarding.

Eh, I made it sound defensive more since I'm frustrated with my series burn-out of the Star Wars "disenfranchise". I got especially pissed off when the new Indiana Jones game wasn't being released on the HD video game consoles and only the other ones. The Force Unleashed gets released onto the HD vidya consoles and not Indiana Jones? Well fuck you very much LucasArts.

I have the Indiana Jones Trilogy in 720p format but I'm trying to figure out how to make them into AVCHD's. HAHAHA, no, I do not have any Star Wars anymore, except for a few random video games, especially Knights of the Old Republic.

So yes I still wouldn't give a shit if Lucas fully restores the OOT and releases it on Blu-ray with every other version. Would I buy it? Possibly but not for a long while after it's released. I'd much rather have Willow and Tucker released onto Blu-ray first. My reasoning for Indiana Jones still stands.

Jees DarkGryphon2048. U prepered to replace most of your collection there? Kong 33 would be an interesting one for the format.

Although though its coming soon, HEAT and maybe, Shaving Ryans Privats (you know what i mean).

Exellent filums, and showcase audio for the right set-up.

But with MasterAudio, a full run time, and decent transfer, thank you please.

Im preparing myself to be very let down on all accounts thou.

Oh, and Babyface http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0075715/

Well as long as all titles carry over the extras from the DVDs of the titles I do own I have no problems selling them. ALTHOUGH there are those titles I love way too much to sell the multiple versions I own. Quite alot are titles I used to own, was gonna repurchase and even ones I was going to buy on DVD. This just gives me an excuse to buy the Blu-ray version of the title instead of the DVD.

Notice how I didn't put any Star Whores movie on the list? (Thanks Fez!) I'm far more interested in Indiana Jones.

"Speaking" of the Blu-ray counterparts to the DVD, there are several if not a dozen or more where I'm in no way selling the DVD release. Other times it's a no-brainer but alot of it has to do with packaging and so forth. Of course I sold off alot of DVD's I own of which the titles are on Blu-ray. I just checked dvdcompare.net and a shitload of other sites for "safe" selling. If the Blu-ray in question doesn't have all the features of the DVD I own, I make a residual copy of the DVD in question and sell the actual studio release. Case-in-point, I sold my Special Collector's Edition DVD of Ferris Bueller's Day Off since the Blu-ray has everything from it but no fucking way did I sell the original DVD release with the commentary. Same goes for FIGHT CLUB: 10th Anniversary Edition. I own the first pressing digipak DVD and I consider it to be a very nice designed package which will compliment the Blu-ray in November. And when I eventually purchase Planet of the Apes (1968), I'm not gonna sell the shiny 35th Anniversary DVD release either.

No idea why I do this, maybe I have OCD of the nice release DVDs.

Fun with Photoshop - Denoising an LD capture

So is this just DNR then? What about the film grain for some of the Laserdisc releases/extras which aren't onto DVD/HDDVD/Blu-ray?

If I had the X0, I wouldn't use any denoise filter. Just a straight port of the Laserdisc. That's just me.

I don't think you can actually see filmgrain on a ld capture.

I also read it depends on what sort of LD player you have when doing the capturing. The higher quality players result in of course high quality results. I'd like to do some LD preservation but have nary the space to house the LD player nor the budget to do so.

If I did I'd have honestly great top-notch work.

Stay away from Peter Benchley's THE BEAST.

EDIT: WHAT THE SHIT?! STARGATE (Lionsgate, second corrected subtitled release, BD25/MPEG2) looked terrible the other day! No film grain from what I could tell. Going in the sell off bin and gonna buy the 15th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray.

I hope hollywood will stop making movies starring Seth Rogan.

Thank you! I could not imagine a less humorous person, and yet, he is one of the biggest names in comedy films today. He makes Jim Carrey (I don't care what you say, the guy is not funny) seem funny. He makes Adam Sandler look like absolute comedic genius. Sad he is the finest the current market has to offer. Oh yeah, and then there is Ben Stiller... *shudders*

The world of comedy films is truely in dark times.

I can freely admit I've never seen a Seth Rogan movie.

RoboCop . Please somebody stop Hollywood ruining this perfect movie. It doesnt need remade so why bother !!!!!!

You failed miserably on the first try. It's RoboCop with "CamelCaps"! I changed it for you.;)

I dunno. RoboCop was the best, RoboCop 2 has alot of good parts, RoboCop 3's best parts were the flight pack and interchangable gun forearm.

As long as the new RoboCop isn't Alex Murphy I'm alright with it.

Right, but it is a wee bit silly for literally hunreds of members to all download ad block, when the other option is to have a small handful a members lower the rez of their sig pics. Also, usually the types that are running computers/internet connections slow enough to be buggered by large picture files are also the type who'd have a hard time figuring something like AdBlock out.

Yeah. To me the large image sizes are just irritating. I also use NoScript.
