Ugh…

Star Wars: The Mandalorian Season 4 rumored to have 6 episodes, The Mandalorian and Grogu film acts as the season finale

One of the concepts has come out of this, count this as a rumour for now, is that the plan was to do six episodes of Mando [season four] and to take the finale, what would’ve been the finale, the big two parter, from the end of that and that’s being developed into the film [The Mandalorian and Grogu].” – MakingStarWars

The Mandalorian and Grogu are embarking on a new adventure — to movie theaters.

Directed by Jon Favreau, and produced by Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, and Dave Filoni, The Mandalorian & Grogu will go into production in 2024.

“I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created,” said Favreau. “The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”

“Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into Star Wars two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen,” added Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm.

The Mandalorian & Grogu will lead Lucasfilm’s ongoing feature-development slate, including films helmed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, and Dave Filoni, who is also currently developing Ahsoka Season 2, among those in the works.

Male suicide ratio is a problem created by the patriarchy due to unrealistic expectations of masculinity. Even then, it’s been completely co-opted by the right wing to suppress women and empower incels to hurt women.

79% of suicides in 2022 were committed by males.

https://www.cdc.gov/suicide/suicide-data-statistics.html

Your rhetoric is not only dangerous but downright insulting to anyone struggling with mental health issues. It is so irritating to see this constantly swept under the rug like it is a political talking point. PEOPLE ARE DYING.

Directors can and should focus on making movies that are aimed at a certain group WITHOUT feeling the need to put down another group. The whole “Us vs. Them” mentality causes nothing but problems, that inspires hatred more than anything else.

Yes, there are angry incels that won’t see the movie because the director is a woman.

Yes, there are people that are gonna praise this movie because the director is a woman, even if the movie is terrible.

However, we are getting more Star Wars, and nothing has to be required viewing. If you don’t want to watch it, don’t! If you do want to watch it, please do! Disney doesn’t decide canon, you do.

Hopefully it’s great! Daisy is an awesome actress that needs some better writing for her movies, hopefully Sharmeen can provide that.

I think both the woke and anti-woke are silly. The more Americans are against each other the less they are against the larger corporations and shady government officials that are profiting off of their misfortune.

I miss the times when people could disagree and have differing opinions without be labeled to one side of the extreme or the other.

Politics aside… I did enjoy most of Ms. Marvel, especially the episodes that Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy directed.

I am rooting for this movie to do well. Rey has so much potential as a character, and I can see Sharmeen’s background as a director being one of the reasons why she was chosen to helm this film.

I just wish they would give more attention to that instead of clickbait articles designed to cause arguments.

Quantumania was always doomed to fail, my argument was that if Lilly wasn’t an anti-vax nut, you could expect tons more marketing around her character.

When it comes to female directors though… Bryce Dallas Howard deserves more attention from the higher ups at Disney. She has directed some of my favorite and the more fun episodes of Mando, and I love to see her tackle a Star Wars film someday. I guess my frustration comes from the fact that Disney appears to actively seek those that like to stir the pot and draw attention to social issues rather than those who are actually excited about being there for the sake of Star Wars. I was very excited to see Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron announced, and I had a lot of fun with Chow’s Obi-Wan series.

I guess the point I am getting at is, I’d rather have fun watching the movie and be excited to hear from enthusiastic creators, rather than seeing dumb debates that are crafted by corporations to divide people.

I’m not denying Disney is falling off hard, and I’m glad for it, but the casually inoffensive left-y politics that make it into a trade article here or there have never been the “sole” tool. You see it once and get all up in arms about it, that says more about you than it does Disney. What is Ant-Man Quantumania’s excuse

Evangeline Lilly has been very vocal about being anti-vax online. Disney won’t market her because of it.

Dog whistles about “directors hating men” and the whole “leftist agenda” are disingenuous at best and downright dangerous at worst.

Not sure if you live in America but it is anything but dog whistles here. It is more train horns right next to your ear constantly.

I think even beyond the leftist agenda, I can agree with the fact that “Disney is spineless and has no principles or ideology”. Given their 2023, I would not be surprised at all if they have a major brand rehaul by 2025-2026 as their current “agenda” is obviously failing, bad.

Disney has been a mess and is clearly focused on the wrong things. Even much so they are no longer the highest grossing studio.

Like it or not… Disney very clearly has a leftist agenda that has been hurting them badly! They need to focus less on checking political boxes and spend more time on crafting good stories that include strong female and/or racial characters rather than just making those items requirements solely for the sake of saying you have them in a film. You want to have a gay character, great! Make it something that is meaningful for the story you are trying to tell. The fact that those items are the SOLE thing that they are marketing movies off of is honestly disgraceful, and it shows beings that no one is going to see their movies.

https://variety.com/2024/film/box-office/universal-overtakes-disney-highest-grossing-studio-box-office-1235859823/

Also… box office analyst Dan Murrell estimates Disney has lost $1.3 Billion theatrically in 2023, nearly wiping out profits from Endgame, No Way Home, and Avatar 2 COMBINED.

If they start marketing stories and not racial and gender checkboxes than I can guarantee they will start making money again.

Why is the director talking about making men uncomfortable?!

She should be talking about Rey and how they want to dive more into her character and show how much of a badass she has become because of all the stuff she has been doing since Episode IX.

That was a sort of thing I was considering for this scene in an earlier idea, except instead of Luke Kylo is conversing with Han in order to establish his later scene with Han’s memory.

I do like it being Luke though to better callback to TLJ. Having it be Han doesn’t really make sense to me.

Maybe just cleaning up the canon is the best thing…

“Rey… wherever you are… you are hard to find.”

“You are hard to get rid of.”

“I pushed you in the desert because I needed to see it… I needed you to see it… who you are. I know the darkness that lives in you, Rey…

“You’re lying.”

“You were right… your parents were no one. They chose to be, to keep you safe.

“Don’t!”

Your parents barely escaped from Exegol.

“I don’t want this!”

Palpatine wanted them dead!

“No!”

And soon after he learned of you.

(Rey sees the vision of her parents and her abandonment.)
“My Love… be brave.”
“You’ll be safe here… I promise.”
“Come back! Nooo!”

“They paid for your protection… in more than one way.”

“Stop talking.”

“Rey… I learned what happened to them.”

(Cutaway to heroes capture)

Your parents wanted Luke to protect you, searching the Jakku desert for his allies… but Palpatine’s assassins caught up to them, they wouldn’t say where you were… so he gave the order.

(Rey sees her parents get killed.)

“So that’s where you are.”

“You know why the Emperor’s always wanted you dead. I’ll come tell you.”

“Why did the Emperor come for me? Why did he want to kill a child? Tell me.”

Because he no longer needed your father. After his return his clones became threats to him, as well as their offspring. You don’t just have power, Rey… you have his power. You are a Palpatine.

My mother was the daughter of Vader. Your father was a clone of the Emperor. What Palpatine doesn’t know is that we’ve become a dyad in the Force. Two that are one. Together we can end him and the Sith, and take his power to forge something new…

(Removes his helmet)

“You know what you need to do. You know.”

“I know."

Having Rey’s parents be cultists that grew a heart just seems the most “Star Wars” to me.

I 100% think that is the angle that should be taken with this plot thread.

The whole “filthy junk traders who sold you for drinking money” in TLJ was what Kylo saw in a vision of Rey’s parents. And if his vision was just what he saw from her parents with Unkar on Jakku, anyone would make that same assumption.

Why would the Sith trust junkers to raise an Emperor clone? That just makes zero sense.

The ONLY way for this to work is:

  • Rey is created from Palps’ DNA, maybe not refer to her as a clone but a creation. Leave it more vague.
  • Rey’s “parents” were cultists who grew to love Rey and wanted her safe from Palps.
  • They stole Ochi’s ship and escaped. If the cultists got to Exegol they should know how to get out, an easy assumption for general audiences. It also makes them more heroic and essential to the story even though they are “nobodies”.
  • Rey’s “parents” seek Luke and Lor San Tekka’s people for protection.
  • Palpatine sent his assassins to Jakku and Rey’s parents are killed.
  • Ochi at some point travels to Pasanna while Luke is hunting him down after he is follwing the lead from Lor San Tekka.

JarJar, I like! Only tweak I’d suggest:

Because he no longer needed you. After his return, and your escape, he saw his creations as a threat
to his power. Your blood… is his blood. You… are a Palpatine.

The only reason for your existence was to be one of his vessels."

The only reasoning is to not downright say she is a clone, but she was created from him. This leaves things a little more vague which I think might be a good thing in this situation and help smooth out “Rey Palpatine” better. She’s not a grandchild, and it’s not explicitly stated that she is a clone, but that she was created from him.

Plus it can help make Luke’s “…some things are stronger than blood.” hit a little bit harder.

The biggest issue I am seeing with most of these rewrites is that it is TOO in-detail. Star Wars has ALWAYS had very basic explanations of things, and in most cases, uses simple words to convey the message.

With these very expositional lines plus them being AI-generated, I have a feeling it is just going to sound off. I think it is a great area to better explain “Rey Palpatine” in the context of this edit, but we can’t make Kylo sound unnatural by all of the sudden using large words and going on lengthy exposition dumps which is something his character has never done.

That being said… and taking/changing the best from what I have seen so far…

“Rey… wherever you are… you are hard to find.”

“You are hard to get rid of.”

“I pushed you in the desert because I needed to see it… I needed you to see it… who you are. I know the darkness that lives in you, Rey…

“You’re lying.”

“You were right… your parents were no one… torn over their allegiance to the Sith cult.

“Don’t!”

Your barren mother was desperate for a child… she saw one she could save.

“I don’t want this!”

She stole you from the Sith!

“No!”

But taking you caught Palpatine’s attention.

Your parents sought out Luke’s protection, searching the Jakku desert for his allies… but Palpatine’s assassins caught up to them, they wouldn’t say where you were… so he gave the order.

(Rey sees her parents get killed.)

“So that’s where you are.”

“You know why the Emperor’s always wanted you dead. I’ll come tell you.”

By having Rey’s parents be members of the cult, then have a change of heart and try to save Rey fits great with Rey’s line to Palpatine on Exegol:

“My parents were strong… they saved me from you.”

Here is a stab at cleaning up the other lines…

“Why did the Emperor come for me? Why did he want to kill a child? Tell me.”

"Because you were a threat to him once his spirit claimed another host. All his clones were… Rey, you have his power. You are a Palpatine.

"The sole reason for your creation was to be one of his vessels. But what Palpatine doesn’t know is that we’ve become a Dyad in the Force, Rey… two that are one. Together we can end him, and finally let the past die.

Guys… I love this. If we can get it implemented seamlessly… holy crap for V5!!!

As for one of the lines… I think this sounds a little more natural and less “Basil Exposition-y”

Your parents saught out Luke’s protection, searching the Jakku desert for his allies… but Palpatine’s assassins caught up to them, they wouldn’t say where you were… so he gave the order.
