STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

Oh, whilst the Vader fight isn’t going to be changed (although with unlimited resources and two stunt doubles…? LOLs) one thing I would like to see changed if at all possible is Obi-wan referring to Vader as “Darth” as if it was his first name and not title!

This movie needs to stand on its own. We know the events of Rogue One happened. We don’t need to be reminded every 5 minutes.

It’s not about Rogue One, it’s more that the original deleted scene added a lot of significant weight to the destruction of Alderaan. Minus Jar Jar it would be perfect!

The Last Jedi : a Fan Edit Ideas thread
Time

I really hated The Last Jedi and hope there is a film in there that could be salvaged.

A lot of it is the jokey nature of it, and by that the Marvel-esque meta humour. And make the heroes a little less Millenial if that makes sense.

I’d even change the opening crawl to suggest something like the First Order are capitalising on the chaos inflicted by Starkiller Base on the New Republic to drive out the Resistance from their territory and annex New Republic systems.

Make this the START of their campaign, don’t say that they’ve already overrun the Republic and essentially undone Return of the Jedi and reverted to Empire versus Rebels.

Indeed cut out all references to the Rebels or Rebellion. That belongs in the OT, the Resistance are supposed to be the undercover forces of the real government!

Rogue One has similar but new shots in almost the same order as ANH. Not sure how identical DS1 and DS2’s control rooms should be.

Yes, it’s obviously a deliberate nod! And I think from the deleted scenes that the DS2’s control room was not originally meant to be identical at all!

 1. Restore the deleted scene of Darth Vader in his meditation chamber calling out to Luke as he constructs his new green lightsaber. The scene seamlessly connects the opening Death Star sequence with the Tatooine rescue sequence, which seem disconnected in the theatrical version.

 2. Improve the pacing in the Tatooine rescue sequence. Cut the droid torture scene. Cut the song and dance routine. Cut the dancer falling through the trap door. Cut Leia haggling with Jabba over the bounty for Chewbacca. Cut the thermal detonator. Cut Leia bumping into wind chimes. Cut C-3PO warning Luke that he is standing upon a trap door. Cut the herd of Banthas. Cut the barge sailing over the sand. In general, trim the first act as much as possible.

 3. Restore the deleted footage of Yoda confessing, “Obi-Wan would have told you long ago, had I let him.”

I didn’t realize that these scenes existed, I’m going to have to find them. They sound really interesting.

Personally the only deleted scene I think is worth restoring is Jerjerrod’s. I think that could add a little bit more tension to the climax.

However I appreciate the copies that are available aren’t in HD quality and would need a lot of cleaning up, plus associated sound effects and music as well as a voice impersonator for Palpatine. Am surprised no-one has actually attempted this yet!

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

Hi all, loved Adywan’s first Revisited so looking forward to the HD version.

Wondering if Rogue One has changed anything you’d do to it? “There’s no escape for the Princess this time” does tie in with the close of Rogue One, I always assumed 3PO was covering for her in ANH.

I’d love the deleted scene of Bail getting blown up (leave out Jar Jar though!) reinstated. It’s a brilliant scene and adds a lot more than the original “pop” explosion of Alderaan. Especially in the context of the destruction on Jedha.

And could always cut in some of the Rogue One pilots into the initial TIE attack on the Death Star, reverse the favour from R1!

And of course, the world below the Death Star should be Scarif (as Ady has already said!)

The only other thing I’d do if I had the knowledge to do it would be to update some of the sound effects for consistency across the saga. Namely Vader’s Stardestroyer doesn’t sound much like a Stardestroyer when it leaves Tatooine, and likewise the TIE fighters have an aircraft “Neeeyeow” sound when they attack the Falcon rather than their distinctive noise.

Hal, your 4.2s are my archival versions, and I love everything you’ve suggested for 4.3.

The only thing I’m just not sure about is the Emperor, Vader and Tarkin looking out on a prototype Death Star, especially one with the dish on the equator.

Firstly, a prototype Death Star has exactly the same issue as the real one - that it’s just part of the slideshow where pieces are put into place to line up with the OT.

Secondly, there’s nothing in the films that suggests a prototype was ever created, so I think it adds something new to the world without adding anything new to the plot, or any meaningfulness to our characters.

Thirdly, I think the reveal of the Death Star is really beautifully done in Rogue One (and well set up in Rebels, for those that watch that), and that seeing it early takes away from that.

For these reasons I think either of your initial ideas work (leave it, or replace with Coruscant) - personally favouring Coruscant.

EDIT:
One question though - while you are revisiting your edits, could you please consider releasing identical versions but retaining the original titles of the films in the crawls? I respect your right to put your mark on them, and to recognise them as significantly changed movies - plus I’m not a huge fan of the original titles - but personally I’d like to pretend that yours are the master versions as originally released. (I hope you take that as the compliment it’s intended as.)

As much as I like the idea, I don’t think Coruscant works. The Death Star is for the best, unfortunately.
This, and the crawl thing, could be easily remedied if you are not opposed to doing a slight bit of editing on your own.

Here’s the Coruscant footage:

Actually, if you didn’t want the Death Star… an Imperial Star Destroyer under construction would be good…

STAR WARS: EP VI -RETURN OF THE JEDI "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - ** PRODUCTION HAS NOW RESTARTED **
Time

Am in love with ESB:R, so trust that whatever Ady has planned is the right thing!

One thing I’m curious about is if the debut of TFA will have any impact. For instance, the initial idea in ROTJ was for Luke to just walk off and disappear, which Kasdan essentially revisited (pardon the pun) in TFA.

I saw the youtube clip of Vader storming the Temple, Ady - don’t know if you remember but I posted a very similar concept ages ago on your facebook page - really sorry we won’t see that finished, maybe someone else will take up the mantle with you as Exec Producer 😉 😉 (I joke! Can understand the reasons why. If I had the ability my running order would be a sagafied Rogue One as Episode 3 and Revenge of the Sith becoming Episode 2, which would cut down the amount of work needed given Rogue One doesn’t need much to sagafy it)

Anyway back to ROTJ - one of the tiny little things I’d like to see in ROTJ is Rebel Fleet Troopers added to the conference scene. It’s always annoyed me that they disappear after ANH (especially now being so prominent in Rogue One too).

Also, in regards the ground battle on Endor, where did the AT-AT that Luke is transported in disappear to? Would love to see it making an appearance.

In terms of ships at Endor, some Imperial Class-1s would be nice (from Rogue One and ANH), but also the light cruisers from Rebels:

I would LOVE Jerjerrod’s deleted scenes reinstated, are there NO better source materials out there that have these? Pweeeeeaaaaasseee 😉

Added this in a different thread, but it has *always* bugged me that in teh Prequels the Venator Stardestroyers fire BLUE lazers and not GREEN, like the Imperial Star Destroyers do.

Likewise the Clonetroopers should have RED lazers that match the look and feel of the Stormtroopers.

Both should have the same sound effects, which add so much in terms of consistency.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

Adywan, I love what you've done to the Emperor's hologram, I was appalled at how that was handled in the DVD release - the Emperor looked "wrong", I can't explain it. Was it poorly lit and composited?

Although I do think the make-up used in ROTS which was used for this scene of post-deformation Sidious was wrong, it should've been much more subtle and not trying to emulate ROTJ exactly, without make-up McDiarmid and the hood in TPM/ATOC looked far more like how he did in ROTJ than he did WITH the make-up in ROTS!!! What went wrong?

Also, what on earth is wrong with McDiarmid's voice after the Mace conflict?? Going off topic...

This is just my honest opinion, but I don't think any of those Old Republic starships from Episodes 2 and 3 would have been necessary for ANH:R. For one thing, Tarkin says during the briefing that "The last remnants of the old Republic had been swept away," and any vessel from the Clone Wars would be considered remnants of the old Republic. Starships and Trooper army most likely underwent changes for this reason. Also, Episode 4 already has plenty of links to Episode 3. Luke and Obi-Wan's discussions on Tatooine are a good example, as well as the few but comprehensive mentions of the Senate.

And about the Alderaan explosion, I think Lucasfilms did do an appropriate job of it. The explosion should be instantaneous.

What I assumed by that statement was that was *institutionally*... the army, navy and the stormtroopers are very obviously inherited from the Republic.

Please to meet you Cyberbeagle and glad you liked ANH:R.

Vader sounds more like his later self in the DVD-9 version.

As to the images you posted, why don't you edit your previous post and reduce the size by half so we get the general ideal at first glance and we can click on them to see the full sized version.

As it seems very unlikely that Ady will be making further adjustments to ANH:R you may want to post your suggestions on the ANH:SE Redux Ideas Thread too.

Thanks! Have redone that! :)

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

I've only just discovered this edit, and it's a fantastic job - well done to Adywan!

I particularly like the new Death Star reveal, the extend TIE fighter shots, and a myriad of wee things that I'd never thought of at the time but think "Yes, of course, why didn't I notice before?" e.g. the Falcon shooting back! The magic of that scene is that it makes it look like the TIEs are indeed chasing the Falcon, rather than how it appears in the original that the Falcon has come to a stop.

The extended Alderaan destruction is almost perfect (it would be perfect if ILM did it properly), with Bail on the planet and the crust ripping itself apart. I thought it was a shame GL never did a proper Alderaan scene like that for the DVDs of Bail looking up in terror - helping provide another link between the PT and the OT.

Oh, and of course the fixed lightsabers... thank goodness!!!

Now, if there was only some way of making Darth Vader sound as deep and menacing as he does in TESB/ROTJ!!

Don't agree with everything though, the Obi-wan & Luke chat somehow feels wrong now (even though Luke's exclamation of "You fought in the Clone Wars" does make more sense now).

Likewise the lazer needle thingy on the torture droid is needless, needles are scary enough as it is!! (In fact I blame this scene for my childhood fear of needles...)

Also, not sure the music suits the Vader/Obi-wan battle. But not sure anything could be done without restaging that entire fight and making it more emotionally impacting...

And the TIE reveal during the battle at the end needs more panic and chatter from the Rebel fighters - like the "I'm hit" "You've got one on your tail!" - it's too quiet otherwise. Add that in and the sequence would be perfect!

If I can be forgiven a beg... I would have loved the Death Star reveal, or the ships chasing the Falcon from Tatooine to have been Venator Star Destroyers. Yes, they'd be 20 years old, but look at the average age of the ships in any nation's navy here. Indeed airforce as well. It's not inconceivable (actually it would've been better to have had Imperial Star Destroyers in ROTS, but that was not to be).

Anyway, it would merely have been a quick cameo to give a visual link back to ROTS.

So I had a go... hope you like!
