Weird. I was under the impression that, contrary to their normal operating procedure, they showed the general release cut instead of their 4-hour reconstructed cut. Are you sure about this?

TCM is showing the general release cut of Greed this Sunday. Turner has had the rights for the movie since the 90s, and generally only shows their attempt at a restoration of the longer, original version that was never widely released. Read more at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greed_(film). However, they are showing the general release version on the 15th. Can anyone capture this airing? It would be awesome to preserve this cut in HD, as it doesn’t seem to exist in HD anywhere else. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Dang, I’d love to get that Terminator print in order to have the possibility of a decent release of that movie. It looks red faded, but I have seen much more impressive wizardry on these forums. 😃

Looks really good! I think the first screenshot has Supes looking a little orange, but other than that, these look really good.

The issue with the Bonds is a mixed one - some of them look great on Bluray and they have done a good restoration job, others were rushed to meet the deadline and look awful. Really they should have restored them in batches instead of trying to do all 22 Bonds (at the time) at once.

IIRC they basically did the great restorations for the most popular films, then rushed the rest.

kk650 has a long history of color correcting movies not to make them more theatrically accurate, but to make them look better. Just a different philosophy from most projects here.

Any idea if the UHD Blu-ray suffers the same yellow fate as the BD?

Honestly, this is such a minor change that I’m not too bothered by it. That said, it would be a (relatively) easy project, if someone wanted to remove it.

I’d certainly be interested in the '97 SEs. Not as a primary way to view the films, but they should be preserved, nonetheless.

I haven’t seen the new 3D release but… are the alterations distracting on George Lucas levels? With today’s technology I’d imagine making the stunt guy look more like Arnie, could be done pretty flawlessly. The windshield I can sort of understand because it has always fallen in the past viewings.

I had never seen the movie before and never would have noticed them. The stunt guy is far away in the shot, so quite small. The changes are totally transparent.

Man, I never would have known. The Coppola restorations of the first two are top notch releases that look phenomenal.

No PS4 models play UHD discs, including PS4 Pro (which is very frustrating). Xbox One S and Xbox One X do, however.

These revisions will also be present on the 4K BD and (presumably) the standard BD that comes with it.

However, you can just take MKVtoolnix, load the MKV file into MKVtoolnix GUI and specify the following:

Tab: Output
Split mode: After specific timecodes
Timecodes: 01:35:22.645

This will split the MKV into two at the exact location of the Part 1/2 split.

I was able to do this successfully. It took all of 8 minutes. Thanks!
