NEW SECTION ON SITE: MAP OF USA
Time
Let's put a section on the site where people can click on the state they live in and submit which stores they are going to go to early in the morning of September 21st to try and convice people to not buy the DVDs.

Let's also have a section where we list REAL, LIGITAMTE, NON-DEGRADING reasons why the ORIGINAL trilogy should be released.

Let's also try to get a list of all the famous people/movie studio unions and anyone involved in the ORIGINAL trilogy to sign on AGAINST the plans to never release the original!! Having a list like this would help greatly in convincing people not to buy the DVD set!

SE Trilogy on DVD coming this Fall
Time
Maybe the petition won't stop Lucas, but if he sees 52,000 people across the country going to Best Buy and Wal-Mart early in the morning to try and convince people NOT to buy Star Wars on DVD and the first day sells are "poor." You better believe he would respond to that! We can do this, just got to get organized! Start getting people assigned to stores, if we can get enough of this moving and have 10,000 people across the country by June ready to go to stores on the 21st to try and convince people not to buy the DVDs that would probably be enough!!!

WE HAVE TO AT LEAST TRY!

George Lucas' explanation why the OT is obsolete to him
Time
That's fine that Lucas thinks that. More power to him, but you know what there are a few THOUSAND people that disagree with him and I'm sure there are even more than that! You put the ORIGINAL on because for 20 years that was the only version out! You don't call a movie that won Oscars and other awards, and went to the top 10 of the highest grossing movies of all time a "rough cut!!!"

It's official! the 2004 OT DVD release will be the Special Editions :(
Time
I'll ignore the "ramrod" part but of course you don't get the police involved. There's no law against going to a store and talking to customers. I hope everyone understands that I'm not saying be violent, or hurt people when they pick up the Star Wars DVDs, just as customers approach kindly ask them to not purchase the set so that Lucas will get the message that people WANT to see the ORIGINAL on DVD. Personally I don't mind the Special Editions, the only thing that really bothers me is when Gredo shots Han first, mainly cause it looked bad, but also because it REALLY hurt Han's character. Anyway getting off the topic now. Here is a mock example of what I would like everyone here and others across the country to do!

CartoonBeaver gets to his local Best Buy right when the open on September 21st, since he figured there would be a line in the morning he left much earlier so he would be first in line at the store. Before he left his house he grabbed some printed documents and other information that he will use to persuade people not to buy Star Wars on DVD.

CartoonBeaver arrives at Best Buy and as people come up to wait outside of Best Buy he introduces himself politely and begins to ask if they are here for the Star Wars DVDs. If so CartoonBeaver hands them a piece of paper and starts to explain how if we the consumers do not take a stand now we will never see the ORIGINAL trilogy ever again. We will also say that (no matter how you personally feel) that Lucas's choice to make the Special Editions the "definitive" story (even though we know he's got an "archive" edition coming) we still would like to preserve this CLASSIC movie for others to watch for the first time.

From there the person has two choices, ignore you or say okay. If they say okay ask them if they would mind staying there with you to inform others or if they would like to come to the store later in the day and help ask people not to buy the DVDs.

WE CAN DO THIS, IT'S GOING TO REQUIRE ORGANIZATION THAT SHOULD START ON THIS SITE, A MAP OF THE COUNTRY WITH PEOPLE VOULUNTEERING THEIR TIME AND WHAT STORE THEY WOULD LIKE TO GO TO! WE HAVE LITTLE TIME!!!

what happens to originaltrilogy.com???
Time
Hey Jay! Now that the DVDs for Star Wars have been released time to add some stuff to the site! Let's get people signed up across the country to commit to going to the biggest DVD retailer where they live and get them to stand by the Star Wars DVD display on September 21st and try and convince people not to buy the DVDs! Also let's start setting up a newsletter for everyone involved so they can stay up-to-date at all times. Also we should get the email addresses of the heads of marketing at 20th Century Fox and Lucasfilm and start emailing them DAILY about how WRONG it is to not release the original trilogy on DVD with the version that's coming out in September, heck I don't even care if it's digitally re-mastered, just give it to me a fairly clean print in widescreen with Stereo sound and I'm a happy guy! You may also want to add a section to the forums for organizing and talking about the September 21 Fan Protest! Let's also start to get the word out about this to DVD websites like The Digital Bits, IGN, and others!

Time to go into OVERDRIVE!

It's official! the 2004 OT DVD release will be the Special Editions :(

Well as someone posted a while ago, is it any surprise they're doing this? Just the ‘97 Special Editions?

This worries me even more because now I'm more than positive that they're going to "double dip" the Episodes 4, 5, and 6 DVDs. So what does that mean for us fans? Shelling out $50-$70 dollars in September and then again whenever they decide to release the "super archive versions" and then even more money when and if they release the originals. That's a lot of money for one movie series especially when there is only one real version of it that anyone wants! So do we just put up with it and complain on forum boards and write emails? Yes! but we also start to get organized and start to complain even louder! The original films might not exist in Lucas's eyes but they do to people who won Oscars for those original special effects, they matter in the history of film, that's fine if Lucas wants to add more or take out whatever he wants because after all they are HIS films. However to destroy CLASSIC films to the point that even in a years time no one will ever be able to experience is just STUPID! So what we do is we go to the Best Buys, and Wal-Marts on September 21 and we protest outside the store or right next to the display of Star Wars DVDs telling people not to buy them and to wait since these versions are inferior. If we ALL stand together and get others to stand with us, enough to where it HURTS 20th Century Fox and Lucasfilm's pocket books then you better believe they'll take this 4 disc set off the store shelves, re-master the ORIGINAL TRILOGY and have it back in stores by Christmas of this year! (Which we've all waited this long so another few months wouldn't hurt) However if we all fail and these copies sell out in the first few weeks and get touted as the fastest selling trilogy ever then we're going to have to wait a RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRrreally long time before we see the originals if at all. In fact if they do break any sell through records then you can pretty much bet the Originals will never see the light of day again.

Let's use this website to organize around the country to get people ready to go to any big places where DVDs are sold where they live and talk to customers as they reach to buy a Star Wars DVD and give them information that most normal consumers don't have. We can use the forums on this site to come up with a list of reasons and explanations to give to customers that will be quick and to the point and quickly convince them that it's not worth the money right now.

If we organize correctly now and Lucasfilm and more importantly 20th Century Fox see that across the country their going to potentially have hundreds (hopefully thousands) of "angry Star Wars fans" at major retailers around the country trying to get people NOT to buy the Star Wars DVDs they might start working on re-mastering the ORIGINALS now so that they can be released on September 21.

I work at a video store myself and I promise you that no one will be buying the Star Wars DVDs from where I work!
