I think they were trying to drop inventory on the 2011 versions. This may have been rectified later on but I don’t know for sure.
Well I’m not about to drop $85 on the Blu-Ray Saga set to find out! Maybe someone else will chime in at some point
Why would Disney only give the new scans to the Blu-Rays inside the 4K set over the Blu-ray only saga set? So basically the only way I can have the new scan blu-rays is to drop $250 on the 4K set. Not happening…
I am reasonably sure that is a counterfeit product, especially considering the price. It does not correspond with the packaging and layout of any official release that I am aware of. I would stay clear of it.
If you want all of the films on Blu-ray in a box set as inexpensively as possible with the latest remasters then I would recommend this set, which runs around $80-$90.
I have since learned that this set apparently does NOT have the new scans and that the only way to get the Blu-rays with the new scans is to buy the massive 27 disc 4K set. Have you read anything about that?

According to what’s spoken about on page 7 they make it sounds like the 2019 blu rays are the ones you want if you want the new scans, but I was under the impression that no new scans/color corrections happened to the movies until the 2020 releases
No the 2019 versions are the same that are on Disney+ and in the complete Saga set. It was the 2019 INDIVIDUAL BDs that reused the 2011 versions. No additional changes were made for 2020.
Ok, I got it… as long as you understand that based on the info in that thread, you referring to “complete saga set” that have the new scans are only the Blu ray’s INSIDE of the 4K set. The STANDALONE blu-ray set that, according to the thread, do not have the new scans. The only way to get Blu-Ray Star Wars discs in the new scans is by buying the massive 27 disc 4K set.

According to what I read on page 7 in that thread the only way you can have the newer (color corrected) scans of the Blu rays is if you buy the 4K ultra HD Saha set. These come with the 4K’s and Blu-rays. If you buy the Blu ray only saga set then it will be the 2011 scans.

Morrison’s delivery of similar lines in the newer Battlefront games is much, much better. I wonder if Boba could be redubbed in ESB with snippets of dialogue from those sources.
We’d have to wait for the next ESB release, whenever that would be !

Thanks, appreciate it. Though that set on ebay does look rather legitimate given the backside of the package, no? It also shows as a bunch of them being sold. So either it’s a great job done or the backlash about this set hasn’t reached any forums yet, that I could find. But I suppose you are right that to play it safe I should go with the Amazon link. Thing is I only care about the movies and would prefer a set with just them for cheaper instead of 18 discs inside some huge mega box.
Do you know if for certain there was color correction done to the 2019 Disney Blu-rays? (i.e. the magenta blasts)

While for the 04SE they called him on the phone and had him record dialog at his house with no thought or planning on his part, as far as I can tell. So he just did Jango. I so wish he’d thought to make Boba sound different than Jango back in 2004.
I guess my main point is in The Mandalorian Fett sounds exactly like he did in the 1980 version, so now I really don’t see the point of the ESB 04 voice change if Fett’s voice changed over time anyway. I absolutely hate the 04 voice change.
Clone Troopers all sound like Jango/Boba because of PT clone accent logic.
Mando sounds nothing like this because he’s not a clone.
Boba still sounds exactly like Jango in S2 because it’s the same actor.
But since this is a Season 2 spoiler thread you should mark it up. Everything else you said makes it unclear if you saw the show since that would clear all of this up anyway.
Ok my bad. I understand more now. But that being said, Morrison as Boba sounds nothing at all like he did as Boba in ESB.
Why is it that there was this notion that the voices of all Mandalorian’s (clones) had to be the same and therefore this awful change was made in ESB, yet in the Disney show “The Mandalorian”, the main characters voice is nothing like that of Jango/Boba’s SE and when Boba Fett appears on the show he too has his old sounding voice back???

According to the listing this is a Disney set that was released in 2020. It is not Ultra HD 4k but instead is regular blu ray. I do not want to spend $66 on this only to find out that the gunflashes in all the original films (specifically ANH) are still pinkish.
the 1997 versions yes. I will always love the enhancement of cloud city and a few other small changes, plus we still get Fett’s original voice. As far as the old emperor hologram I don’t really mind it though I would prefer Ian just not in such a huge in your face appearance like they gave him in 2004.
The only change I didn’t like for the 97 ESB was the “Alert my star destroyer to prepare for my arrival” sequence.
Just wanted to get everyone’s take on the 2019 4K releases as compared to the standard Blu Ray versions of the films. I watched a few 4K clips on Youtube and I must say they are some of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen. Is it really a crazy comparison in your eyes? Are the films cleaned up near perfectly now?
I’ve been considering upgrading to a 4K tv for a while now (my tv only supports standard Blu Rays at 1080) and these films might be the reason for me to do so. Though I do hate some of the changes they’ve made of course.
I enjoy the 1997 versions the best though they are far from perfect.
So many enhanced shots, sounds and scenes (love the new look of cloud city, victory celebration and approach to Yavin sequence). We also get to keep things like the 20th Century intro, Sebastian’s ghost, Vader’s silence at the end of the death star scene and Fett’s original voice whereas the 2011 versions took those away.
I can deal with the small bit of excess creatures in Mos Eisley if it means getting those extra things I like.
I wish Disney could at least fix him up so he doesn’t look so damn creepy and out of place. That sinister smile and the fact that it looks like he’s standing 5 feet away from Yoda. Just always thought it was absolutely awful and wish they would see it and change it.

To me at least, it appears that the pink hue of the gunfire is less obvious.
That’s because when you watch the film on cable, they cut the sides of the image off to fit it on a 1.78:1 TV screen.
The black bars are normal and every movie with an aspect ratio over 1.78:1 will have some level of letterboxing (black bars) on the top and bottom, and every movie with an aspect ratio of less than 1.78:1 will have some level of pillarboxing (black bars) on the sides.

As far as 1997 SE goes, yes. I’ve always loved the enhanced modern Cloud City look/colors and enjoyed that little scene where Lando is talking to the entire city on the mic. The only change I didn’t like was the awkward insertion of the Vader arriving on his Star Destroyer scene. But I’ll deal.
Anything 04 and after with Fett’s new voice sounding like he’s robotic or the Emperor looking like a giant Halloween mask from Revenge of the Sith, you can throw directly in the trash.
The worst change was Fett’s voice, but this was a close second. Obviously only done by Lucas to add in that (very awkward) deleted scene so they could say hey, we made more cool changes for when the SE was released in 97. That’s all. Awful change/edit.
Yes I’m aware you can’t purchase actual “fan edits”. All I’m looking to do is see if anyone has ever or could ever somehow scan/copy the 97SE’s to a Blu Ray disc. Would be willing to pay good money for ESB and ROTJ. New hope I can deal with the new Disney released Blu ray. They have corrected the color very nicely in the film.
This might be more of a question for the techie guys out there, but anyway… always wanted to ask. Does anyone else have the black bars on the tops and bottoms of their screens while watching their SW Blu Ray’s? I’m wondering if perhaps it has something to do with the proportions of my 1080p Samsung LED which is kind of old now, from 2010. The aspect ratio’s for all SW blu ray’s of course is 2:35:1. There are no black bars when I watch the film on cable.
