Shameless Plug - look, it's my steampunk themed Kickstarter!
Time

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/supermattkelly/annabelle-avery-steampunk-girl-comic-book-volume-1

Part Raiders of the Lost Ark, part Doctor Who. A girl with a steam jet pack steps through a mysterious Portal that leads to another world...and all heck breaks loose!

If this is your type of thing, I know you'll love it! I wrote the script, and my artist has this cool 19th century woodcut style that is CRAZY with detail.

So have a gander. Thanks!!

Well, I think it could be done in a film. However, I'm not completely convinced it can't be done without remaking the films entirely. Which is what I would really want. But that won't happen until George is wearing pearly-white flannel.

I agree, it could have been done. I spent half my childhood imagining Episodes 1-3, and in all my day dreaming I always knew there could be away to keep the Vader/Yoda reveal intact.

Now can the PTs be edited and augmented in such a way that these precious secrets could remain intact? No, not without filming new footage...which is what Ady has suggested that he'll do. I would love to see his proposed additional story beats for these new sequences/characters. That man is a genius, and I'm sure he'll be able to accomplish the impossible.

But on the other hand, as someone said earlier, it would almost be easier to film entirely NEW films rather than retrofitting George's PT to fit with the OT. And hey, you KNOW someone is going to try and attempt this some day!

Yes, the prequels are a strange case. Clearly someone must have mentioned to George that he was ruining two key reveals in ESB while scripting them. Obviously his objective was to deliver "money shots" (ie- Yoda kicking butt, Anakin strapping on the big black mask). Done, case closed.

And I understand DominicCobb and Jaitea's points about how the PT exists to be played AFTER viewing the OT. When I'm blessed to have children one day, I assume I'll show them the OT before the PT.

However, that's a moot point in this discussion. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the basic conceit of this thread/project to alter the PT so that it better fits in with the cultural landmark that is the OT? Preserving the sanctity of the original narrative above all?

Someone mentioned Obi-wan having multiple pupils, and it got my cogs turning.

During Episode II, what if Obi-wan discovers that a clone army was being created. What if he discovers the request was made by someone named "Darth Vader?" Later on there is a battle between Kenobi and someone in a proto-Darth costume (possibly replacing Jango in the night/rain confrontation), and during the fight Darth uses a signature move that only Kenobi or one of his students would know.

Then the lingering question as we go into Episode III is, "which one of Kenobi's students is Darth Vader?" And why would they help create a clone army?

And since the concept of clones is so prominent in Star Wars, I've always wondered why no one has used clones as the solution to the whole "Darth Vader murdered your father" conundrum. You could easily have Anakin/Darth murder a cloned Anakin (Anaakin?) in order to keep his identity as Darth Vader secret from Kenobi and the rest of the gang. Plus it solves any issues of having Anakin and the proto-Vader in different places at the same time.

That brings another great reason to add additional students; the concept of a small "gang." You really felt Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, etc were a team. The PT sorely misses this type of camaraderie.

My buddy's Kickstarter is 70% there! UNMASKED: VOL 1 - FIXED POST
Time

Is this cool to post here? If not, let me know and I'll delete it. Otherwise...here's what's going on:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/michaelsarrao/unmasked-the-new-age-heroes-volume-1

Pimping out my buddy Michael Sarrao's Kickstarter! He's been collaborating with artist John Broglia (GOD COMPLEX, ATOMIC ROBO REAL SCIENCE ADVENTURES) for several years on UNMASKED: THE NEW AGE HEROES.

They're at around 70-75% of the way there (as of this writing)- so exciting! Here's what some pros say:

"Enjoyed the fast pace and stunning artwork. A winner in my book!"
-- Jimmy Palmiotti
(All Star Western, Queen Crab, Monolith, Trigger Girl 6, Jonah Hex)

"UNMASKED is a fun spin on the super-hero genre, and John Broglia's art and character designs are top notch. Buy this book!"
-- Jay Faerber
(writer on TV's Ringer, co-creator of Near Death and Dynamo)

"Michael Sarrao has combined the three magic ingredients of the classic comic book: great art, great writing and memorable characters. After you read the first one you’ll be clamoring for more!”
-- Vinnie Favale
Vice President of Late Night CBS Entertainment

UNMASKED follows Paige Cruise, a young journalist who has discovered a conspiracy
involving new and violent versions of her world's deceased, classic superheroes. She wants to unmask these New Age Heroes, as their tactics are just as ruthless as the supervillians they are trying to defeat. The added twist is that we don't know the identities of these supposed heroes...readers will find out when our main character does!

Once they hit their goal, they’re ready to pull the trigger on a lot of cutting edge stuff. In addition to printing a run on a TPB, they’ll also able to complete post-production on several webisodes -yes, LIVE ACTION video content! You can view a preview of their video at this address:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6A_gEi1Dx_k

Give it a look and let me know what you think!

-Matt (basically Mike's "street team"!)

EDIT: Obviously Vader would already be partially in costume so that we have no idea that it is Anakin...and the knighting ceremony would just be Palpy formally giving him his Darth name....the "force lift" lowering of his helmet shroud (like in the painting) would be a nice touch though...

Just wanted to comment on how much I've always loved that "knighting" image on the left. Finding that in my Star Wars Galaxy Trading Cards collection blew my mind as a teenager, and I would be overjoyed if Ady found some way to incorporate this imagery in his ROTS edit!

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

Adywan just posted this at the Revisted Facebook page:

UPDATE>>>>>

I've been a bit quiet on here lately, not only because this account was suspended, but also because there have been some developments in my personal life that have been taking up most of my time. Luckily this time it isn't anything bad. It looks like i will be moving house within the next month or so. This will be really beneficial, not only for my personal life, but also for the Revisited projects. It will give me a hell of a lot more space to be able to create and film everything i need to do. So from this point in time, until everything is sorted and we have settled into the new place, i will be unable to work on ESB:R. It's still not 100% confirmed that i will be moving as yet as there are still factors that may halt the move, but its more certain than not presently. Whilst this is all in progress it's unlikely that i will have any internet access while everything is swapped over so i probably won't be able to give regular updates. So i apologise for yet another delay on the release date but i hope you can all understand why this is now a priority. I wasn't able to say anything earlier because all this has only happened during the last few weeks.

Because of this new delay i will be posting a new video shortly.

--Adywan

He then posted this new preview clip! This has been a crappy week for me in more ways than I can say. What a great pick-me-up!

I faced a similar dilemma a few months back. My advice is this: since Ady is still geared toward releasing ESB:R this May, which is only a couple of months away, I'd just wait until May. The Star Wars films have always been May movies, anyway =P

Oh. Wow. ONLY THREE MONTHS AWAY!!! I would literally take the day off from work to download and watch this. I'm THAT excited.

I wonder if suggestions for blinking eyes would still be made if we didn't know that Ady had used a static image for the upper portion of the Emperor's face. Sometimes ignorance really is bliss...

Actually I forgot about how the effect was constructed when I first saw the video on Facebook, so I can't agree that THAT was the reason why I had the reaction that I did. Of course, knowing the limitations of the source material and then comparing it to the crappy 2004 DVD do make Ady's clip a lot better.

However, Ady DID construct a smile "by hand" as he just recently stated. While perhaps cheek movement is difficult to accomplish on humans, clearly some lip movement can be achieved.

I'm still very curious as to Ady's thoughts on the addition of a blink.

You know what I would add to the emperor that I think would distract from the lack of facial movement? A quick eye blink, a la the amazing eye work you already did on Yoda.

I know the 2004 version is basically just as static, but I loved the slow blink from the 1980 lady/monkey.

But knowing you, Ady, you probably already tried that...

THE STAR WARS SAGA - 1080P AVCHD DVD-9 for PS3 & Blu-Ray players - Episodes 1, 4 & 5 available now
Time

Anyone have any plans of watching this copy of Empire on May 21st this year? I'm thinking of hosting a party for my geek friends to check it out. Maybe bring out some of my collectibles from over the years to display. Never had a Star Wars party before. Maybe I'll make root leaf stew! :-)

Feedback Wanted: Jar Jar's voice and personality re-imagined (video experiment)
Time

This is a WONDERFUL proof of concept. Bravo! Perhaps Adywan has something similar in mind for his Revisted prequels? I really like the accent, btw.

Also, I believe your dialogue is just what this film needs- an arrogant rogue character, but perhaps more cowardly (think Han Solo meets Ash from Army of Darkness).

I would love to see another attempt at a different scene!
