""They are DVDs, yes. But are they DVD-R or what? Obviously it cannot be a professionally produced DVD since it's pirated, so what kind of burn is it?""

The ones I've got are transfers from the Old Laser disc box set..so while the quality is not going to be DVD standard I guess it will come somewhere between VHS and VCD. Unless some nice far East bootlegger has access to some brilliant remastering facility that's probably as good as it gets

Thanks anyway guys. Luckily some other fans outbid me BIG TIME. Eventually the set went for 48 bucks!!!

It's all academic really..I mean how much do you think we have all spent on Star Wars items and memorabilia. I consider myself pretty restrained but I've got the films and soundtracks in umpteen different versions, even the questionable Holiday Special, figures, ships, books, light sabres etc..so there's always going to be some Star Wars related "must have" out there

A friend of mine did a really nice rip of ANH with some great animated scene selections - the only downside was that he was using vhs as the master so though the quality was good it obviously couldn't match a digital orginal. The point is and I guess it's the whole point of this site is that the film seemed "warmer" than the SE version. Perhaps it's a psychological thing about seeing the movie pretty much how I first saw it without all that fussy detail...hmm I think I'l stop before I go on too much!

Hi Folks

Star Wars Original Trilogy not SE on ebay item #3388567496

This may seem an odd request but I’ve bid for this set on eBay but have now got a set from elsewhere, so I don’t particularely want a duplicate set. Judging by the prices I’ve seen these DVD’s go for recently the current price isn’t bad (?)

Does someone want to outbid me please??? My max bid was 30 dollars so all you need to do is bid 31 dollars and unless you’re outbid… you’ll win.

The down side (darkside?) is that the auction finishes at Ends Feb-24-04 01:25:51 PST

Hope someone can help me and perhaps help themselves!

May the Force be with someone!

This is my first look at this forum and I suppose I come under the category of a whiny 40 something as the "delightful" idiot basher describes. I'm just disappointed that I can't see the movie in the form I saw in 1977. To me the SE's are over fussy especially ANH and as has been mentioned above don't seem to flow as they did.

It's a shame but I gues we're stuck with the SE's and will have to make do with the original VHS or versions ripped onto DVD to get that original buzz.

Frank Zappa remastered some of his back catalogue replacing the original drums and bass with digitised ones and the result was ghastly ..I guess George has done the same.
