Preserving the...cringe...Star Wars Holiday Special (Released)

Hey.

Is this the best copy of the special…

https://youtu.be/Z4CtXcjib4o

…or is there better?

I know it does not contain some of the opening theme and the animated segment, but I already have a that stuff.

The latest release of the Gormaanda Hybrid on MySpleen is your best bet.

Also, welcome back. You’re an OT.com legend.

Unfortunately recent testing ahs shown that SSDs left on the shelf experience data corruption after a while, so they need powering up and refreshing, which is a pain.

Alternatively, a company can make a giant SSD dock that keeps them powered on and not much else.

Suggestions for the New Forum
Time

My only gripe at the moment is that the private messages page only shows the sender rather than the recipient(s).

Due to the nature of the work I’m doing with poita, I have to send lots of PMs to people on the same topic, so I copy-and-paste the subject, but I can’t make a multi-user PM instead since these discussions often involve trading PII like addresses, etc.

At the moment I have to click every PM to look for correspondence with a particular user. I guess I can just use different subjects or put the recipient’s username in the subject, but that seems unnecessary since there’s more than enough space to include the everyone involved in the PM (senders and recipients) right there on the private messages page.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

Not sure that I really agree with Jedi. It certainly the weakest of the OT and not a great film by any means but it still holds a nostalgic place for a lot people. Frankly, I wouldn't want ROTJ:R to significantly depart from the Revisited goal of "what the special editions should have been" with any major narrative changes. If it does, I hope that a "Purist version" is at least provided.

I second this.

Info: Dragon Ball Z, and the Dragon Ball series in general...

ADC? Who? What?

...and what do you mean by custom? Do you mean a hybrid of the saga set/blue brick subtitles and fansubbed next-episode-previews and translation of the Japanese credits?

PM me for what ADC is.

In this case it's the R2 Dragon Ball Dragon Box release with English subtitles muxed in. I'm not sure of the source, but I imagine the subtitles are just re-timed from the blue bricks.

With that being said, I wouldn't be surprised if something significantly more elaborate was done given how ADC operates.

poita and I agree that the 5TB Seagates we've been using are a bit too… sensitive… to send overseas for his master copy, so we've decided to use these as the backups.

With that being said, we now need more HDDs than was previously thought since we're going to use more reliable 4TB ones.

Please keep donation pledges coming in. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

People were bickering about the then-forthcoming Revenge of the Jedi online on Usenet in 1982.

Would that still be archived anywhere?

Google Groups has the most complete archive, but the search is broken.

DejaDejaDeja.com has a much better search, but it's only 1981-1991.

Thank you, I've found a new way to waste my time. :P

I sometimes miss the days before the internet, when we could enjoy films for what they were. Nowadays, it's all "I hate the trailer. It doesn't have this. It doesn't have that. It's not like the Star Wars in MY head".

Do you mean the days before the internet or the days before the World Wide Web?

People were bickering about the then-forthcoming Revenge of the Jedi online on Usenet in 1982.

The World Wide Web, of course. (I can't imagine your average Joe using Usenet in 1982)

I agree with you. I was just being a pain-in-the-ass.
