Star Fleet/X-Bomber (1980) Remastered Edition (a work in progress)
Time

Bladez636,

Overjoyed with finding this thread and more importantly you and your herculean effort to clean up this classic!

Just want to lend my support and express my gratitude. Will wait endlessly for your effort to release!!

I have the US SD Blu-Ray and every time I watch it it pains me that it didn’t get the proper transfer it deserves.

Wow, wow wow.  Emanswfan, I have zero love for the prequels but your work is nobly impressing the bejeezus out of me.

Question on making things "filmic":  My eye and general knowledge of film effects are not the best but isn't part of the problem in resolving the fakeness in these films that the CG animated elements will always appear distinct from the other elements due to the lack of motion blur as these elements are not actually filmed?  Almost akin to a frames per second issue but not necessarily even tied to more frames per second but simply that the CG is always crystal clear at any given moment.

If that supposed understanding is even ballpark accurate are there plans to better integrate these overly disparate elements?

No matter, the stills and the Youtube clips (the ones that haven't been removed at least) are proof enough that mere color correction, grain, etc. go a long way in improving the viewing experience.

To add to that, would there be a way to make the Dewbacks go back to their original appearance (with the elephantine feet, as opposed to the goofy frog feet)?  Hell, just adding some stubby alligator type toes would be better than what we got in the SE (apparently they used a fake Rhino for the base body, and used fur to hide the seam between the head, tail and body).

Hmm... so it appears the Empire is equal opportunity.  Who would have thought?

Monroville, awesome pics!  I didn't mind the new dewbacks so much.  Especially considering all of the really awful SE changes.  Never gave it too much thought to be honest.

Ok… so, here's one more thing I just noticed as I was watching ANHR.  When Luke first tries his lightsaber on for size at Obi Wan's, it's casting a shadow on the deactivated C3PO.  I only point this out because Ady seems a bit of a perfectionist about these things.  TBH I rarely if ever notice things like this and when I do I'm generally dismissive as they don't have any bearing on my love or lack of love for a film.  Caveat:  I'm watching a downloaded copy of the first draft version.  I'm in Latvia and my DVD9 final version is at the house in Florida.  So maybe he changed this in his later drafts?

Gentlemen (& Ladies?),

I'm having a great time combing through this thread and the one for ESB:R, though it's taking quite some time.

Apologies if this has already been raised before but...

Something I would love to see fixed in the HD ANH:R are the awful bobble-headed dewback riders.  Watch footage of real riding and riders.  Yes, the body can and does do a lot of adjusting with the movement of the beast one is riding but the rider generally keeps their head on a steadier horizontal swivel.  It looks patently false/unrealistic in the SE.  Almost as if they went overboard to show how much movement they could animate.  It's either that or they're unenthused and lethargically/half-wittedly carrying out orders, which doesn't read menace enough.  Even if they were scanning the ground for tracks rather than the horizon the head movement would be more controlled and not so lazily up and down.

Awaiting your feedback/comments.

(PS: Sure you guys get this all the time but I loooove Star Wars: Revisited! I won't voice my few quibbles with what is a superlative fan edit especially as it appears they've all been mentioned ad nauseam prior to this post.)
