J. Williams & LSO, The EMPIRE STRIKES BACK AUDIOPHILE EDITION - Restored & Remastered Score (Released)
Time

;)

---

Now may I say... You've got all your time to give feedbacks guys. There's no marathon there, and I'm not forcing anyone.

I'm still discovering details in the instrumentation, so I can understand if I don't get your thoughts before a few months. What I don't understand is more the people who take the time - while they say they don't have - to care about the projects; who request something and who will disappear.

I've requested one thing on these forums about a year ago: an "Empire Strikes Back" LP transfer for a remastering work. Someone great did it and sent it to me... I'm sending it back to OT.com in a way.

The ESB birthday was a total coincidence. I really don't care about ESB birthday. However I'm glad you can enjoy the AE that way.

Mission accomplished, end of story.

Hello. I just wrote a big review for 2 1/2 hours. I send it. Suddenly OT.com asks me on a new page to log in again.

Sorry for that, always copy your big posts before clicking on "post reply".

I have to say that a lots of things in life are the matter of taste and ABC's has a very good one.

I swear I made this reflection to myself this morning: "tastes shouldn't interfere with such a restoration work. There's Truth, and there's what's outside truth". Just so you know I had a declic when I decided to make the AE (after 3 versions of the OE!), or I wouldn't have done it. These recordings know sounds closer to the truth than ever, I hope... Hairy Hen said it: "it feels right"...

... but also manages to sound like first RCA release, deep, clear and now completed....

... It is beautiful to be able to listen ESB in RCA-way but fullfiled.

I know you mean RSO. RCA being the SE.

cd 3

Beautiful new mix of a superb 2 LP - transfer. Deep, clear, SOFT! So nice to hear a real vinyl sound in digital media!

Sorry if I lacked of precision about CD3: these tracks are lifted from CD1&2, 3/4 of them have very slight re-EQ's. The result makes the whole perhaps a little more warm and soft, indeed.

Thanks a lot anyway for having tiping your feedback... Twice !

That said, I discovered three little spelling errors in your notes about the AE:

Sheet3a - depht -> depth
Sheet4a - same as above
Sheet4a - unexistant -> nonexistent

Hehe... Be happy I haven't made the liner notes in french ! lol

But I'm surprised there are so few. Did you see that Msycamore ? We did not too bad !

Is there any way to get Ady's name OFF of torrents? I just did a search for "Adywan" and his name came up on a bunch of non-SW stuff - Crank 2, Fantastic Four, X-Men, Mission Impossible. I don't think he'd waste his time with any of those, especially since some appear to be just rips of the DVDs, not edits.

Don't worry, Adywan is now a copyrighted name... I just bought it !

Hahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaa !!!!!!!!

... Sorry I love bad jokes. Just a way to point out any sick ideas might happen... ABC was the ideal name to avoid such silly things.

Just a thought, though.

Damn I really envy you folks with fast internet connections - we're stuck with 512mb max (yep!) here :s Looks like I'm going to have to miss the party with this one and watch it a later date - curses!

It's have to be the GOUT for me this Friday - still much better than nothing :)

Oh you know, the only "correct" version I have is the 2006 DVD limited edition... I still don't know what version is what when you all speak and can't follow all your threads so far I don't understand anything to your video languages... I'll only enjoy my old version one of these days, still I may enjoy much more my old memories of this movie: it almost scared me the 1st time I saw it !

I don't get the interest of having an audiophile quality source as a ring tone, excuse me. I would have the SE version on a phone I guess I wouldn't tell the difference myself.

But I can tell if I'd like to troll at my best at in buses, subways or work I would use this one version: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PDJEOGM5

... If someone knows where it comes from I'd like to know.

Hey ABC, your PM's aren't working so I'll post here:

Indeed my pm is disabled. Sorry I should have warned... But how could I keep your valuable feedbacks just for myself ?!

... Love the art work and booklets etc. as well they are amazing defiantly be printing them and making it into an official looking presentation to go next to the anthology and the SE's, You have outdone yourself with this one ABC!

Hey, if you have a chance to let us see that, please go ahead... I don't even know if I'm going to use those arts for myself ! You can post shots in this thread or the AE covers thread, whatever.

Btw, I'd like to thanks here again and give credits to:

 • Seventiesfilmnut (7FN) (aka Nerfherder now) for having provided the RSO LP transfers. He may temper his role in this while actually the material he sent to me - let's precise by request - was just vital for this edit(ion)!

 • Msycamore who pointed me on the most valuable sources about those recordings in order for myself to understand what is what, what was wrong and why, as to help me use my intuition the best way about the lacks and defects of these recordings.

I remember saying something along those lines in a private message.

Come on, a blink through the crowd remains private, as long as it doesn't make a fuss !

There's no quote and besides I can't remember what you said exactly through PM, so who will ?... Now if you remember my pm back, it was most sincere !

Apologies though.

And now with Adywan's 1980 theatrical version coming in the next couple days, what better opportunity? :) I'll be doing the same thing myself.

Have a good time then. I'm not here for Star Wars myself, I'm here for the music through a couple of masterpieces... It occurs that they're related to SW then I present them there thanks to OT.com.

... Could also have presented my "Conan The Barbarian" remastered score on CTB.com but I doubt it really exists ! Heh

I don't think anything excepted that it is a rare occasion to witness two masterpieces brought together: the movie itself + the score. It is phenomenal whatever I may answer to your question.

The thing with your Thread - popularity isn't so bad as you might think. I'm sure, there are a lots of interesrted people but they are not members of OT.com, or they just simply don't know that this is here, or they have other priorities in their lives then to respond of this thread with great news, although they still feel that this is great news.

Thanks for the input. However you may be amazed by the difference between the number of people who can pm you for getting such stuff, next to the people who care to let you know. And I don't ask so much as a detailed feedback. For instance there's a member called "Lee.Lethal" who just takes time to post once - with no more than 10 words - for each of my works. Such guy just shares his enthusiasm the simplest way and you see: it's great enough and I can remember him !

Next to that some people want to promise detailed feedbacks and are especially the ones who won't never do it... Stop being intelectual and let go guys ! I don't care of the detail... I know each detail of what I've done there.

... I also woudln't have any problem to donate you for that because this is musically one giant part of my life and it's very important for me to owe it in all its glory.

Donate ?... A couple of minutes is not too much to ask, and you just did it. Thanks !

For the share I'm gonna keep it simple and silent: I've been asking for feedbacks, or a word from people who are interested with the project (read these projects as this is the 5th version of ESB I present on this forum) since long enough for you to know what I expected from such a thread. Looks like there's not that much people interested in a John Williams' restored masterpiece... Weird but well, it made me decide to share it as I did for the 1st version of the OE. Most of you know what it means. For those who don't, let me translate: don't pm me, please ! I won't answer requests by pm due to past experiences.

Note to Dark Jedi: may I ask you please to not torrent it for this sucker who doesn't dare to post himself... And I bet I know who asked you that. I haven't had the honour to read one of his feedback, and it's typicaly the kind of guy who pissed me off (the ones who request and never let you know) and thanks to who you could have seen this set slip away from your grasp. And "you" is not to be taken personnaly of course.

To finish, let's pray my computer holds on still a week !

I had some confirmation CD1 & 2 flac versions are now fixed thanks to some feedbacks (a couple of tracks were corrupted). Cd3 is ready. The arts are almost done, though I may leave a couple of things in silence so one must have to find by himself how to build it. Anyway there's enough stuff there to make some adjustments for yourselves and make custom sets.

Minor criticism - there's a long "click" on the first track on CD1, I mean noticeable click for a good second or so. Maybe it's due to the download or the playback, but I tried three different times. It's around 1/3 through the track.

Thanks for this ! Something occured here, obviously. I found out my 2 first tracks were corrupted even on the original I used for the upload, and the upload looks to have made them worst again.

It's now fixed, thanks to you and a couple more of careful ears.

Something I forgot to mention to ABC - some tracks do sound a bit better than others. It's not a variation in quality, as on the whole everything is excellent, but a few pieces just sound even better than I expected. Yoda's Theme I mentioned above is one of those.

I suspect they took a special care for the recording of that one. As for the Imperial March besides, considering what it gives on CD3.

... Just a little advise to anyone who would use EAC to burn the CD's, mostly if it's to play on a good old HI-FI as I have: uncheck "Drive is able to write CD-Text" in the driver options, even if it can!

PS: patience Ripplin, thanks to these guys the one you'll have will be perfect. Actually I'm glad I haven't to pm the corrections to numerous people !

To the few people who have had a part of the set from me, please pm me about any issue (someone spoke about a long "click on "Main Title/Ice Planet"... I don't have such corruptions).

Thanks.

... Just so you know: my computer is more and more unstable and the final crash looks imminent ! So, it is possible I'll deal with these problems later.

All that money people donated to this project and nothing to show for it - I think it's pretty disgusting to be honest...

I totally agree with you Nerfherder: another "Bernie Madoff" like scheme! The dishonesty of those directly involved in the XØ Project will have negative repercussions on current and future S.W. projects: less or no donations, promotion, trust, etc.

Mmmmhhh... After all, each one his responsive of his own ideas and projects. Money shouldn't interfere with such hobbies (hey, that's all for fun after all). If it turns to a hard and expensive work, it remains your own choice... And keep in mind: it's not because you can do it that you must do it!

After, if people are nuts enough to send their money, it's their responsabilities here again.
