i am trying to re edit superman 2 to to be more fast paced and more action…some of the edit i have done are either smooth or jump cutting but i need to give my thoughts to another person with more editing skills than myself…here is what i have.
i have left in the start up until you see the phantom zone zoom off into the distance instead of it running through with the previous film i have cut straight to paris it runs up until to the bad guys are talking about the boms then lois makes a noise.
cut to the daily planet where perry tells clark about the hijackers i think this would have been the correct way the film was cut and you see clark change to supes then fly off…
supes saves lois and releases the three villians i have edited to where the taxi guy crashes into clark and calls him a freak…
have edited out the mushy stuff with the oranges and the smoking it didn’t look right and it goes straight to fulsome prison with lex and otis and continues onto clark saving lois at niagra.
another edit is back at the motel where supes comes out then i have cut to them flying off i have deleted the walk on water and ursa frying the snake as its redundant and them meeting sherriff culpepper and the deputy as the fish and beans lines are rubbish and slows things so i have it the we see them for the first time in idaho…ursa and zod walk into the bar and the guys wants to arm wrestle ursa when he says does this tickle i have jump cut to where he hits the wall and goes through it deleting the scene where she does put him through the table and another guy is put through it…a nifty cut the way it looks
i have re editied the love scene so they run together rather than being broken up between idaho and the forstress of solitude…i have run it as a long scene .
when zod and ursa and non are fighting the army i have cut out the scene where the jeep crashes through the poster and the guy asks him are they okay i ran it as if they died as it makes for more drama…
the big fight on metropolis streets i have tried to edit it as best i could eliminating some of the people from it as the jokes and wisecracks ruin some of the action set pieces and the minature cars that have been flung about also ruin things…
as you can see its exstensive and i think its lost about 15 mins from its run time to tighten it up even if someone with really good editing softare can re do this it would be great as i am only using virtualdub for this some cuts are good other horrrible
