As far as Empire is concerned, the only real problem I have is the new Throne Room discussion added for the DVD and the Vader returning to the star destroyer montage that messes up the Bring me my shuttle line and the pacing of the Bespin escape.

People seem more split on the Wampa scene. I personally prefer how it was in 80, but I have friends who like it now.

I'm pretty certain my version has fixed that montage so its now like it was in the theatrical release. Agree with you 100% about those shots of Vader going back to the star destroyer in his shuttle, totally pointless and ruins the flow of the millemium falcon's escape from cloud city IMHO.

Does nobody else have any suggestions for improvements to these semi-specialised releases? I was sure there were going to be people here making suggestions about how to improve the colour grading of these films at the very least. Flesh tones are noticably redder in a lot of the footage that the negative 1 team are posting and is getting a lot of positive feedback, is that something that people here would prefer in my releases as well compared to the more subdued fleshtones in my current releases?

Thanks, I believe I posted my methodology in the torrent.  I am also working on syncing all six films.  I currently have ROTS and ANH done, with most work done on ESB and ROTJ as well.  TPM should go pretty quickly too.

I'm still considering how to handle AOTC, The theatrical version can't really be reconstructed fully, as the DVD is missing about 45 frames from the T-16 hangar scene.  However the footage exists on the Bonus DVD in 16:9.

I'm not sure whether to leave it as a theatrical version, or patch it and sync to the DVD.  I'll probably make both versions. :P

If I had some gum, I’d chew a hole into the sun…

I would keep all of the end celebrations in ROTJ except for Naboo. Match it to the 97 version.

The thing is, I really don't like the CG celebrations on Tatooine at the end of Return of the Jedi, it just seems over the top to me with too many people in one place for a sparcely populated desert planet, it reminds me of the flaws of the prequels with their overreliance on CG.

I don't find the CG Coruscant celebrations as bad because the population density is supposed to be high but that planet is only part of the prequels, its not part of the Original Trilogy, so leaving it in again reminds me and i'd imagine others of the prequels, which most of us would prefer to forget while watching the OT.

My first Return of the Jedi Semi-Specialised release cut both those celebration scenes for the reasons above and i'll be cutting them again this time for exactly the same reason, such over the top CG has no place in the Original Trilogy IMHO.

I'd imagine that Harmy will be creating a HD '97 preservation of Return of the Jedi like he has for Star Wars so that's probably the release you'll want to wait for.

There’s an 18.66 GB version of Empire Strikes Back Semi-Specialized listed on the newsgroups, however .part064.rar is missing, preventing me from extracting and enjoying it. Does anyone know where I could find this version nowadays? Feel free to PM me.
