Some of you may already know that yer ole RRS-1980 is an aviation and flightsim buff. So I'm opening a thread dedicated to planes&games, hoping that some of you might join it for a little "chit-chat" in a cockpit.

Today I'd like to introduce you to my project: 9/39.

For over a year I was a member of the "IL-2 Sturmovik" flight simulator community, a game released in 2002 that rocked the sim genre. So far we had Western Europe - Pacific - Western Europe - Pacific... (ad infinitum) as the theatre of operations in our WW2 sims - albeit the Bf 109s and Corsairs are cool, this was getting a little bit boring. Suddenly a Russian developer appeared from nowhere with their Eastern Front sim. And the quality of that product surpassed the Microsoft CFS series.

No wonder I have jumped out of my pants when I saw Polish PZL P.11c fighter coming with a first major patch to the game. Seeing all those gauges in cockpit in my mother tongue for the first time was a very exciting experience - it was a huge novelty to me, familiar only with cockpits of Messerschmitts, Spitfires, Zeros, Widcats etc.. Sure, there were custom made Polish planes for CFS series or EAW before (I've never flown them), but they could not match the quality of this model, not to mention the superior engine of the game. And despite the fact that the plane was a bit misplaced (P.11 on the Eastern Front were found only in Romanian hands on the Axis side), I had a blast flying it
So I've started "lobbying" for the creation of other aircraft designs, which were the first to oppose the incoming Blitzkrieg. There were few models "in-progress", so I kept helping the modelers. Unfortunately, work for free = no $$$ = no time = no planes

But thanks to the support of my fellow flightsim fan, Janusz, who also runs software company, I have yet another chance for the "September 1939" project. Oleg Maddox, creator of the "Sturmovik" series plans to start a news batch of flightsims - with completely new engine etc. - with "Battle of Britain" opening the series. I have been working with him for some time (I have added some content to Sturmovik series, too) and we are going to make an add-on for the BoB featuring the beginning of Blitzkrieg in Europe:

Just in case you've wondered: RRS-1980 = Rola

We're just starting, but so does Maddox with his BoB. So far they haven't completed a single plane model for their basic game, but you may feel the taste of things to come with this cool screenshot of their work-in-progress model of Messerschmitt Bf 109 E-3 fighter:

Not bad, eh?
I saw the original theatrical release of the Old Trilogy on the big screen and I'm proud of it...
How did I accomplish that (considering my age) is my secret...
