It is rather creepy, come to think of it.

But I used to do the same thing- I used to read these forums for many, many months before I felt as though I had something to contribute, something to request, or some reason to join.

I'll bet there are a lot more "lurkers" out there.

Yes, oojason.
I saw the original theatrical release of the Old Trilogy on the big screen and I'm proud of it...
How did I accomplish that (considering my age) is my secret...

Then again, these new people may have just said they have been lurking for a year to cover up for their n00b-ness.

Alot of people don't like to talk in forums like this because they are worried they might say something that most will jump on. I mean, if they are only a casual fan and don't know the name of every character in the Cantina, but enjoy the films as much as anyone else. They might feel intimidated about posting. That's why I don't post at TfN.

I read here for a while before joining myself. Mostly out of fear that I would say something retarted and get myself banned or shunned away...

They said he was rude to Dayv or something. I am not really sure the whole story. Doesn't really bother me, and it's not my concern anyway.

I've been a registered member for years now and I check this site out at least once a week. For awhile I posted all the time but I rarely do anymore. Most of the time someone already says what I was thinking.

So I guess I'm a registered lurker.....

That sounds like it should have its own FBI Watch List.

How does this sort of thing get "policed"? Does Jay read the alleged offender's posts and make a determination? Or does it depend who's reporting it? Just curious...

Also, there's well over a thousand registered forum users, but God knows how many lurkers. This shouldn't surprise anyone.

I don't think DanielB's ousting had anything to do with Dayv directly. He had been pissing off a bunch of people in the preservation section. Some people there called him "worse than Jimbo." Hard to believe, but since I'm hardly in the preservation section, I guess it's possible. I think Zion, who is a mod on this forum, had him ousted.

Jimbo was the subject of several PM complaints to Jay who started monitoring his posts. He gave him several warnings and then a time-out ban. I think that lasted about a month. Then he came back and was good for a little while before he started in on his bashing. Jay was alerted again and he watched and warned yet again. Then he IP banned him for life.
