...I'd be ok with Christianson as long as they did some voice coaching and make-up to get him looking and sounding more like Shaw at the end of Jedi.

They'd have to explain why he sounded like an American brat in the PT and an English gentleman at the end of Jedi...

They could also explain why he sounded like an American man before he took the mask off...

 Because.. robot voice? I guess?
I know that doesn't really add up either, but I find it easier to buy than Hayden's voice being either the robot or the old man.

Acting like Christiensen's voice would be an issue is stupid when Vader already sounded like a black american and a white brit in the OT.

Doesn't get much more incongruous than that.

The pitch of the voice is easy to shrug off as robot but the accent not as much. To be honest Shaw's British accent never bothered me because he has like two lines and the difference in pronunciation can be shrugged off by saying that his voice was frail or whatever.

Hayden aside having PT Anakin be a brit would have been a mistake. American makes more sense, also due to his familial relations. Someone with a vocal presence similar to JEJ would have been a better choice. Not necessarily as deep or menacing, but deeper than Christensen and with more power.

Vader had been hanging around Imperial officers with British accents for two decades though. ;)

Vader heard speaking with that voice was the only way he'd be able to fly ;-)

Not just no, but Hell No!

The new films are going to have a hard enough time overcoming the ill will that the prequels created.  No way should they actually insert actual PT remnants into the ST.

Ewan McGregor did a pretty good Alec Guinness impression in the PT (so I can't fault him for that), but there's no need to go inserting him into the newer films.

And Hayden Christensen...really?...REALLY?!!!

On the flip side of that coin, the sky isn't going to fall if Coruscant is mentioned or seen, or if Leia has a portrait of her mother.

Right, I don't care if they happen to mention Coruscant (it's a planet, it's there...I don't have any problems with it).  Just keep out the Gungans and Midi-clorian counts!

Not to mention that Coruscant existed in the Expanded Universe before TPM came out.

I'm for not having any Force Ghosts at all in the ST. I like to think that Luke only ever spoke to Ben, and that the final scene of ROTJ is the last he sees of any of them (and, it should go without saying, the last he saw of his father was the ghost of the old man who died saving his son, not the young, mushmouthed, child-killing dunderhead he purportedly once was according to certain spurious, non-OOT sources).

Luke is the Ben Kenobi of the ST. He has to play that role now. To have him still conferring with a spectral Obi-Wan who by now would look to be the same age (or younger) than Luke would be a thematic mess. Likewise, the long shadow cast by Darth Vader is certainly going to be central to the plot of TFA - if not the entire ST - and a primary motivation for Kylo Ren's character arc. Vader's presence will be most keenly felt in these films paradoxically by his absence. His presence as a Force Ghost bobbing impotently about at the periphery of the film would grossly undercut all of that, most especially if he's being played by this guy.

I wouldn't mind seeing Hayden in the ST. All he would need is the right acting coach to get him in the good frame of mind for his scenes and secondly he needs good dialogue. People seem to forget only amazing actors give vastly greater performances than the actual writing allows. I mean even Samuel L. Jackson wasn't good in the PT and he's an overall great actor.

As it pertains to Ewan I wouldn't want to see him in the ST for the sake of continuity. But an Obi-Wan spin off film with him at the helm seems far better in theory than a Han Solo movie.

I just hope they don't put Hayden in any areas with sand....

Hayden will not be in the ST. I am 100% sure of this. If I'm wrong I will gladly eat my shorts.

I'd like to see you try...merely for scientific reasons of course :D

Also what makes you skeptical? Him appearing as a force ghost in ROTJ is canon unfortunately. And even though they're trying to stray from the PT by not mentioning Midichlorians I'm sure there would be some way to use Ani in this trilogy. Now if the ST was taking place 100 or so years post ROTJ the probability of him showing up would be nil.

That's all fine and dandy and even though he represents what most of us think it doesn't mean he won't have to adhere to what's canon. If the higher ups say something is happening it will most likely be done. Protesting could work but it will most likely be a futile effort.
