Info: //The Risk Business & Temps X\:

My next project will hopefully be a quick one.

Whilst it’s not very good quality (it’s actually pretty poor), I think this is an important piece of Star Wars history and should be preserved.

’The Risk Business’ is an episode of the BBC Money Programme from 1980. It is presented by Michael Rodd of ‘Screen Test’ and ‘Tomorrows World’. In it we see Michael visit the Elstree set of ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ and talk to a number of the key cast and crew, including Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Anthony Daniels, Gary Kurtz and Irvin Kershner. The documentary discusses the risk involved in making a film on such a large scale.

We see the Echo Base set in some detail with shots of Michael walking atop the Falcon and down the ice corridors. (I wish I’d had this when I was making ‘Building Empire’).

As this piece is only 13 minutes in length I will also be including an episode of Bold">‘Temps X’ (broadcast onTF1 09/14/1980, one time only) a french documentary, in which, once again, they visit the Elstree set (of L’Empire contre-attaque). As it’s in french I am hoping to get it translated and subbed by a teacher friend of mine. However, if you are fluent, I would be grateful for any offers of help.

To finish this disc off and as a little bonus I will also try to include ‘Walter Kronkite’s visit to ILM’ during ‘TESB’ era. Again, it’s another short piece but worthy of being included.

I also need somebody to color correct all of this footage as it is taken from a VHS copy from some years ago and needs some attention. Again, any offers would be welcome.

And don’t worry, I will make sure I am completely finished on ‘RTJ’ first!

And screen test.
I remember when they showed a clip from Jedi which I videoed, and watched again and again. That long with any advert or the smallest clip from TV. It was only a 30min tape, but it was jammed full of all kinds of SW stuff.

Those where the good ol' days. Before the www. The days when seeing the smallest clip, or a pic in a magazine really made me a happy little boy!

Move Along. Once I have done the last on 'RTJ', I think I could make this DVD pretty quickly. I will send you a no frills version for colour correcting if that's ok.

Thanks

I have just heard that I may be getting a much better copy of 'The Risk Business' from another UK contact. I have also discussed with Babyhum that this disc might fit in better with his releases than mine. When I get the tapes (there are some other gems on their way too), I will let you know which way we are approaching this.

Hello Jambe !

First of all, kudos for the amazing work put into Building Empire. I'm dl'ding Returning To Jedi now and I just can't wait to see it !

French is my mother language and I remember watching every Temps X show presented by the Bogdanof twins in my younger years.
Too bad I didn't have a VCR back then.

Anyway, I'm now located in North America and if you're still looking for translation help, I'd be happy to give it a shot.

If so, feel free to E-mail me at jprobert70 at hotmail.com
Do you expect me to talk ?

Thanks for your kind offer. I may be in touch soon.

Well, I have indeed received a MUCH better copy of 'The Risk Business' (which requires no colour correction), thanks to my good friends over at STAR WARS AFICIONADO, along with some other fantastic UK video goodies. I have sent them over to Babyhum for a future release. Watch this space.
