He blocked sixteen shots. A world record. Twelve of those saves kept the game totally scoreless in regulation and pushed it into overtime.
Going into this, I figure Belgium would take the win because they were just a vastly superior team, but it would have been over a lot faster had it not been for Howard's incredible performance. Here are some stats:

Not exactly. To be precise, Brazil sucked major ass. And I say this while feeling sorry for them. It was like they weren't on the field at all.
My pop said they could've played one of our sucky regional teams and they still would've lost.
Now he's rooting for the Netherlands.

- This was Brazil's first competitive home defeat in 39 years
- This was their biggest defeat in World Cup history
- This result equals Brazil's all-time biggest margin of defeat, when they lost 6-0 to Uruguay in 1920
- This was the first time a team has conceded seven goals in a World Cup semi-final, and it's also the biggest margin of defeat in a World Cup semi-final
- Germany scored more goals in this match than England have in their past two World Cup campaigns combined

The most embarrassing part was actually the 2nd half... Germany knew it was essentially over, and was just playing defense. Brazil had the ball pretty much the whole time, and tried and tried to score without success. And yet, the couple of times that Germany did manage to find themselves with possession of the ball in Brazil's territory, they scored with what looked like not even trying. While the first half was a rout, the 2nd half was humiliation.
