Internet Exploder isn't anywhere as near as bad now as it was back in version 6.
It's still far from ideal.
Am I supposed to hate IE or something? It seems that whenever I encounter a discussion about browsers, IE seems to rate below Hitler, if Hitler was a child-molesting cannibal. Could someone explain what I'm missing out on by using IE instead of FireFox or Mozilla or whatever?

Dude, IE is so uncool. It rapes children, and kills puppies. If you use it, you suck.
Firefox is Mozilla. Firefox is sweet. All the cool kids use it. There is no reason not to use it! Plane and simple! It can only do everything! It can even give head!
Is that the information you were looking for VFP?

I always assumed I sucked for very different reasons. Now I know it's my browser! Cool!

Glad I could be of help.

So how does it come up short? What is better about other browsers?

In short it's still the slowest, still the most open to abuse and lags behind the competition when it comes to fresh ideas.
Even when it does manage to catch up on innovation it's frequently bug ridden.
Try almost anything else and feel the difference what have you got to lose (it's not like you can uninstall the thing without moving over to Linux)?
Yeah, I'd recommend trying out Firefox. It is free, so you've got nothing to loose, and I am fairly certain you won't go back. You can even import your bookmarks from IE. In the end if it doesn't float your boat, it is easy enough to uninstall the thing.
One thing it has over IE is the ability to install plug-ins, which can be of all sorts of use, or not, depending on what you do online. If that last sentence doesn't make any sense to you, a more simple way to put it would be to say it very customizable, not in appearance (might be, I'm not sure) but in functionality. There are all sorts of third party add-ons you can get for it.

I like Firefox's noscript, which I'm sure has saved me from at least a few viruses.
I've also noticed it doesn't freeze up the way IE occasionally does.
Let's just say even countries advise against IE. Germany's not the only one.
A Goon in a Gaggle of 'em
What about Google Chrome? Anyone fooled with that? Opinions?
My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.
I've been using Google Chrome pretty much since it was released, and I haven't regretted it.
I only use Internet Exploder when I absolutely have to...which is rare.

As a hater of all things M$ my opinion is rather bias so I'll stay out of this one!

With browsers being pretty much free of charge there is no excuse for trying on others to see which works best for you.
I have Safari, Firefox, Opera, and Wyzo on this machine (I only keep Wyzo because next to my Skype icon it spells out the word COWS in my taskbar).

Odd countries don't like IE either.
VFP,
I've used Firefox and Chrome, but I always come back to IE. I never get what the big deal is. I think some of it is a "Take this, Microsoft! That this, with!" kind of attitude.
I use a browser on 3 different machines- one at work where I can't change the browser, one on my laptop where I don't have a lot of spare disk space (and that's the primary reason I uninstalled the other browsers) and our family desktop. I guess I could use something besides IE there... but I just don't really care enough to do it.

Uh, who is paying?

That was a mangled quote from some dial-up commercial. Why pay to get fast internet when you can get slow internet for free? It's the same internet...

I like that netzero is no longer zero dollars. Shouldn't they change their name to net-nine-ninety-five?
Or maybe Notzero.
I guess the speed is the missing thing. If you use mozilla you can browse more faster than IE. You can also use chrome now
tv bracket is UK's top brand for tv brackets
Perhaps, but I prefer using tv bracket. After all, tv bracket is UK's top brand for tv bracket based internet browsers, is it not?
This is the first British TV Bracket that springs to my mind :
Man! She is little!

You know, I just realized we've got this great IE thread and we haven't discussed the e-hole yet!
