When Did The Star Wars Prequels Become Cool? — Page 7

Star Wars Show on YouTube tries to make them cool in pretty much every episode. Feels so weird but that show is so obnoxious anyways. At least some interviews are kind of interesting.

And in the time of greatest despair, there shall come a savior, and he shall be known as the Son of the Suns.

“Why?” He said that the prequels are really bad and they’re hilarious to make fun of. I don’t know where this confusion comes from.

My guess: the confusion results from a certain activity those guys are probably undertaking while watching the Prequels.

Rogue One is redundant. Just play the first mission of DARK FORCES.

LoL, yeah. It can be actually be a lot of fun to watch the prequels with friends, a couple beers, and some crazy fan theories to talk about.

This guy that I hate from work was talking to me and he brought up Star Wars and how he and his friends watched the Phantom Menace and were going to watch the other two prequels this weekend, to which I responded, “Why?” He said that the prequels are really bad and they’re hilarious to make fun of. I don’t know where this confusion comes from. The prequels are boring. They aren’t even all that bad in a Plan Nine way either. They’re just really, really boring.

Episode 1 is just really, really boring.

Now Attack of the Clones on the other hand…I can have a good time making fun of that for the sheer amount of cringe moments.

I think the opposite: AOTC is deadly boring, TPM can be interesting.

the world-building itself is not very good either…most of it hurting the franchise(midichlorians), elevating a chosen bloodline(the skywalkers), or being a pale imitation of politics without the nuance or depth of such films such as game of thrones or planet of the apes(bush era parallels in the PT).

it is very telling that gareth edwards and dave filoni took those same concepts and made them work in the clone wars and rogue one by heavily changing them into something unrecognizable(the force is now in everyone, returning to the philosophy of the OT as well as anakin probably not being the singular chosen one).

I know that this was sort of suggested on the 2nd page, but I think this is clearly the answer to the OP:

https://www.reddit.com/r/PrequelMemes/

My office is full of mostly people who disdain the prequels… but they love prequel memes. Some go so far as to say they’re glad the prequels were made- so that there could be prequel memes.

Now, I don’t agree with that… but then again…

who would live

is pretty funny.

IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

"[George Lucas] rebooted the franchise in 1997 without telling anyone." -skyjedi2005

"Yeah, well, George says a lot of things..." a young 1997 xhonzi on RASSM

"They're my movies." -George Lucas. 19 people won oscars for their work on Star Wars (1977) and George Lucas wasn't one of them.

Rewrite the Prequels!

The internet and its use of stupid gifs and captions is the only reason the prequels have lasted even if this long in the public consciousness. They don’t sell a lot of merch relating to it, and the new movies have consolidated the same imagery of Darth Vader, R2-D2 and Chewbacca which is what is iconic to the masses.

I should point out Anakin and other prequel characters appear in Disney theme parks, although Mr. Binks is noticeably absent. There is still a moderate level of prequel merchandising even though the new films dominate the toy lines and Episode III was 12 years ago.

Don’t even bother with Frinks he is a thin skinned idiot who attacks anybody with a different opinion. But as soon as somebody makes a light hearted joke about badly made star wars figures or autism(look at some of his older comments from the ‘‘random image’’ board) he loses his shit. Just let the snarky Jew enjoy his echo chamber in peace.

Been a long time since I saw that one.

JEDIT: “Snarky Jew enjoy his echo chamber”… Now that’s one I’ve never heard before. Not sure what this guy’s problem is.

I guess? Theme parks feel like a niche area to me, but I have no idea what kind of broad appeal they have beyond the families who can afford them. The Star Wars Land idea is coming I guess. And there are a lot of toys out there I suppose. But talking of basic stuff like coffee cups, socks, t-shirts etc. there’s usually Vader and all the familiar faces. The Story Spinoff movies are all catering to the same idea, though obviously a few winks to the PT are present.
