What're You Reading Right Now

I'm an avid reader...particularly non-fiction (biographical), historical fiction (Killer Angels, The Glorious Cause, etc, and fantasy.

Reading a book right now called A Game of Thrones, by George R. R. Martin. AWESOME book. About 200 pages in and it's excellent. I had picked it up in 1997, believe it or not, but never actually got into it until now.

Starting alot of threads today aren't you?

Like I said in another completely unrelated thread, lately I've been reading the Richard Sharpe novels by Bernard Cornwell and finishing up the Hornblower novels after a long absence.

I just finished with Sharpe's Prey and next I'm going to finish up with Admiral Hornblower in the West Indies.

I would've been a smart ass and said, "this forum," but instead I'll be forthright and just say that I'm reading marketing books for my marketing management class as well as Jose Canseco's "Juiced."

Re-reading this because a friend asked me too. Go figure.
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

Just finished reading "A Civil Action" because I'm writing a paper on it for my Professional Responsibility class.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

And the first lesson in that class...

There is no responsibility amongst professionals. Deal with it and move on.

What do you call a bus full of lawyers at the bottom of the ocean?

A good start.

What do you call a bus full of lawyers at the bottom of the ocean with one empty seat?

A waste.

I haven't read any novels recently.

The last thing I did read was a collection of 2-minute mysteries by David Sobol (guy who wrote Encyclopedia Brown). I loved (well, still do love) those Encyclopedia Brown books.

This collection had a handul of the same plots, but a lot of new ones and used a different character to solve the mysteries.

Q. Why have some scientists started using lawyers in lab research?

A. There are some things a rat simply will not do.

See, I have a sense of humour about my future profession.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.
