Idea & Help Wanted: for a vintage 'Sesame Street' preservation...

Would anyone out there be interested in working on a collection of vintage Sesame Street clips? I am talking about the really old stuff from the first 5 seasons. I have about 20 videotapes of old episodes from Noggin! broadcasts of Sesame Unpaved. I am not sure if they are still on anymore. Turns out that Oscar the Grouch was orange the first season. Weird.

Any takers? Ideas?

That would be cool to see. What year did it premier? I was born in '69.

The first season was in '69.

I'd be interested. How many episodes do you think you have?

at least 40 or so within the first 10 years. I think with any kind of DVD project, I'd like to see not the shows necessarily preserved themselves, but rather some of the best bits, like the various alphabet and number cartoons and the skits by the various muppets. The only problem with preserving the episodes themselves is that they often repeat material over and over in the shows.

I think this would be cool as well.
Along the same lines, another show that deserves preservation is Mr. Roger's Neghbrohood. That has been on for years, but they don't show anything but the last few seasons on TV anymore. Kids of future generations should be able to continue enjoying him as well.

I heartily endorse this event or product.

So funny - my wife and I were just lamenting the fact that there is no old Sesame Street available.

Hi Sluggo,
I am also a fan of the vintage Sesame stuff and wish you luck. You might want to do some searching/posting here:
http://forum.muppetcentral.com/forumdisplay.php?f=12

Many fans collect the old segments/films, and some want any complete episodes they can find.
Re: the episodes shown on Noggin, I don't know when you recorded yours but they originally were shown with the Noggin "bug" in the lower right of the screen...this was eventually removed, but I don't know if the entire Noggin collection was shown without the bug (someone on the forums could tell you). In case you're interested.

Another thing, if you are interested in the individual films vs. complete episodes, you can also expand your search to episodes through the 90's when vintage stuff was still being included (although it became much less common, and several vintage films had sound overdubs or were even edited ).

I have some Sesame stuff I would like to convert myself if I can ever afford a nice VCR.

Number20, I definitely agree...the old Mr. Rogers shows are harder to find but I would like to get some on DVD myself at some point.

Okay, the plan so far...

I'm going to dig around on a few other forums (like Muppet Central) and see what I can dig up. Meanwhile, if there is a favorite bit anyone would like to see, post it here and I'll see what I can do.
