Uploading Author icon - Problems

Hmmm, I'm having problems.

My profile won't allow me to upload my own author icon. Is there a site-wide prevention to this or am I missing something ?

Every time I try and upload my icon I get :

Your attachment could not be uploaded due to either a file error, or your file is not a valid image (JPEG,GIF)

I've tried the file extensions .gif .GIF .jpg .jpeg .JPG .JPEG

and all I get is the same error message.

My jpg version of the image is at : the end of this link

I guess I'm missing something. I made the image in Photoshop, and as far as I can tell, everything is right on my end.

Can anyone help me ??

EVER SINCE THE FIRST SERVER CHANGE THAT HAS BEEN A FUNCTION THAT HASN'T WORKED. HOWEVER, AS SOON AS JAY HAS THE NEW SOFTWARE IN PLACE THAT FUNCTION WILL ONCE AGAIN BECOME AVAILABLE.

I don't know what took me so long to find this place. I had signed the petition long ago, but for whatever reason, just left it at that. Now I'm re-kindling and re-discovering Star Wars and various other movies. I'll tread carefully

I too was going crazy over this uploading. I really didn't understand what I was doing wrong.

Strange, i swore that i had an account here from long ago. Do they prune inactive users here?

Great, I found a thread for that problem. It was the first thing that puzzled me when I registered just now. I wasn't going to even post here, but I think that seems to be the only way to get a "Subscribe" checkbox on my screen (so that I can subscribe). So sorry for the somewhat extraneous post.

I'm finishing up the forum software over the holidays. Should have a week pretty much to myself. I haven't had time to even look at it in the last four months, which is absurd considering how close it is to being done.

Maybe you should leave it as it is now. Many other forums on Internet allow big user icons and big banners in the underline area. Not only it slows the download, in some cases it creates such a mess that you can hardly recognize the message text. P.S.: This forum is great and I absolutely love it!
