Anyone see this? It sounds great.

However I’m having trouble finding it. If anyone has links… I’d be most appreciative!

Yep! It is good. Not very radical but it stands out.

I will PM the links :)

I saw the first version.  He and I share many of the same ideas, but differ in a lot of places (especially the Twins).

Kevinicus, I really want to see your's, but I also want to see a version that has the twins removed (as much as possible).

I mentioned in the thread for my edit that I am considering doing a second version of my edit that removes some of the Twins for those who are that against the Twins.  It would be a movie only version (maybe a VERY VERY basic default menu).

If it's on a DVD? I'd get it!

Can somebody link me to it if it's on rapidshare or torrent? (PM please)

Thanks

- Linkin Park song replaced with Stan Bush – Till all are one - added some G1 transformation sounds here and there NEW

* yeah, maybe it's cheesy, but I like this not so great fight (Bay was apologising for it on his commentary) more with it, Original version didn't have any good score in it, and was really lacking in any emotions. I've watched it about 50-60 times with the song, and now when I am watching original version it feels like something's missing.

This cut sounds GREAT! I can't wait till 1.3 is available, because that's the version I want to see. I know it's quite possible to polish this turd, because I don't really see ROTF as being a turd-- I think that there's a good action movie somewhere in there, it just needs about a half hour of crap wiped away. I look forward to seeing this when 1.3 is finished!

It is finished and should be available in a few days.

Unfortunately I have a slow Internet connection so uploading takes time.

And btw, I've also changed Soundwave voice to make it more like his original voice in cartoon.

EDIT

It is available now.

Nice! I think that's a good compromise between sounding like the original and not sounding cheesy. Good job, I can't wait to see the whole movie!

I just got through the movie, and I think this was a very good edit all around. There were a few audio glitches and slightly rough transitions which detracted from the experience a bit, but it was still a WAY better cut of the movie than the original. In addition to the small glitches (i.e. the audio temporarily disappearing for a fraction of a second), the transition in the end from the start of the Linkin Park song to Stan Bush's "Till All Are One" was a little rougher than I'd have liked. However, everything else I thought was great.

Also, given how much screentime the Twins had in the original cut, I was very amazed at how well the beginning of the movie works without them. The only change I'd make there is that maybe the scene where they switch from being an ice cream truck to individual cars at the base should be left in, since I felt that their appearance later in the film was just a wee bit too abrupt (the scene I mentioned would probably be just enough of an introduction that they aren't a total surprise later).

also there were a few times (particularly during talking scenes, but also some action scenes) where the audio levels seemed weaker than in other parts of the film. I had the volume up pretty loud for most of the movie, but during the first scene with the Witwickies I had to turn it up even louder, as well as in some other scenes because the volume would drop down. Not a big issue, but still one I'd like to see fixed.

The nods to G1 like Soundwave's voice and the implementation of "The Touch" during the last battle were very well executed and made the movie feel more enjoyable and nostalgic for me.

Hats off to you, Gieferg. This is a superior cut of the film IMO, and to me proves that there's a gemstone in the rough of Bay's bloated, immature and sometimes downright illogical theatrical cut. I do hope that you will continue to polish this gem, because it shows lots of promise and I think that with enough refinement (and possibly Blu-Ray? *fingers crossed*) this could replace the original version of the film entirely. Even with its technical issues, this is still the preferable version of the film for me, and it brings the quality of the film much closer to that of the first Transformers movie, which is exactly what I am looking for in a Revenge of the Fallen re-cut. Keep up the good work!

I have an edit that is currently up as a blu-ray.  That cut has about 20 min. removed, but the Twins remained intact in that version, since I think they're the best characters in the film.

I have a second edit, which is basically the same, but with more of the Twins removed (about 3.5 more minutes are cut).  It's currently available as a SL DVD, but will be available as a blu-ray at some point.

I"ll also have a combination DL DVD & blu-ray which will have both versions on the same disc.

I may do a tweak or two to Shanghai section of the second version though, so it may change.

Point them out, maybe it is something that can be fixed for future re-release. It was my first released fanedit (I've done before extended version of first Alien for my home use, but it was very easy to edit) so at some point, when my editing skills will be better I may try to improve it.

(i.e. the audio temporarily disappearing for a fraction of a second)

I didnt notice that when I was watching this version before uploading. Can you tell me where exactly it is?

implementation of "The Touch" during the last battle

I suppose you're the very first person who likes it :) It's 80's song and for most of the viewers it may be just cheesy and out of place, but Optimus without The Touch is not a real Optimus you know ;)

since I felt that their appearance later in the film was just a wee bit too abrupt

Well, they're present in Nest hanger in their car modes, and even after half of their scenes were cut, there still much more of them than Sideswipe, Arcee and especially Jolt. Besides, if there was no ice cream truck in Shanghai,  upgrading scene would look out of place.

Thanks for review :)

It'd be hard to point out the problem spots without re-watching the film, but I'll definitely be re-watching it in the future so I'll be sure to keep notes about where the problem spots are in the future.

And I can see what you mean about the Twins' introduction. Maybe I was just too used to how they were handled originally, because looking back I think that they are much more balanced now. None of the other Autobots get an intro in the movie, and since the Twins are now reduced to bit players it wouldn't make sense to give them one either. If a viewer can get past how the other Autobots are handled in the movie, the way the Twins are introduced in your cut shouldn't be any harder to accept.

I gave a copy to my friend who is a huge Transformers fan and had previously been very disappointed with Revenge of the Fallen, and he loved it. He also showed it to another friend of his who is also a TF fan, and to his brother who hadn't seen it, and they both loved it as well. I also gave a copy to my older brother who hasn't seen ROTF yet, and I'm still waiting to get a reaction from him (he's married and his wife isn't particularly interested in the movie, so it might be a while before he gets a chance to watch it).

I still haven't gotten my other two brothers to give it a chance, sadly. One of them thinks that ROTF is so bad that it is beyond redemption and has pretty much sworn off on movies based on toys altogether, and the other sadly does not believe in the concept of fan cuts. I'm still determined to make them watch it at some point, but I'm guessing that if it happens it will involve them losing a bet of some sort. :P

I'm glad to hear that people like it :)

btw, did they like Stan Bush songs in it? In fact The Touch in final battle is the thing I like the most in my edit :)

and the other sadly does not believe in the concept of fan cuts.

Just like most of the people on Transformers boards. On one of them my topic about it was closed just because one of the moderators could not understand what is the reason to creating fanedit, when he can just fast forward things that he does not like... He was still commenting about "how pointless is creating of fan cuts" and when I said that I will ignore all his further posts cause they are pointless he close the topic...

There is also many people who just could not understand that fanedits are usually created by people who like the movie, but something is bothering them. So they say - "If you hate the movie, stop watching it!" well, If I hate the movie I dont give a flying F about it and I am not spending hours on editing it. Also, this edit is not for the people who think that the movie was perfect as it is, If they like it, that's fine, nobody will force them to watch fanedited version, but of course they are still commenting how the movie was butchered by faneditor (and of course they are not watching the edit to check if it works or not).

My thoughts exactly, and that's what I've been trying to articulate to my brother. He seems to insist that if a movie has problems then those problems are "canon," and that if you edit them out it's basically cheating. He likes Adywan's Star Wars Revisited because it doesn't drastically alter the films, but I couldn't get him to watch the Phantom Edits of Episodes 1 and 2 or The Matrix Dezionized. He was very disappointed by Transformers 2, but even so he does not think that fans have any place in saying what should or shouldn't happen in a movie's story.

He also was not particularly fond of my Jar Jar Binks dubbing experiment, because even though he admitted it was a big improvement, he thinks there's something wrong with re-imagining Jar Jar's character like that since it's so far removed from Lucas's vision, and in his opinion the movie is the director's. Kind of odd considering that unless a director is a big name, they don't get the final cut privilege anyway and the studio ends up cutting the movie up themselves. If the movie studio gets to alter a director's vision, why shouldn't fans? :p

Geiferg...I can't seem to get anyone who enjoyed ROTF on any level to review either of my edits. All I get is comments (with one possible exception) from people who absolutely hated every shred of footage, as if there's anything a straightforward fanedit can do for their enjoyment if they're at that level.
