Yep. I noticed it as well.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

Maybe you guys should stop trying to use unavailable services. :p

The hosting service had to install some patches on the server as part of our attempt to track down the cause of some of the errors we've been seeing. Installing the patches meant restarting the ColdFusion Server software, which would explain the errors you saw (they had 2 patches to install and the timing lines up with the outages).

Glad it's nothing serious then.

The website wasn't available for me during Christmas and now it looks like you had to restore an older backup? Because I can't find my last PMs

I don't think it's an older backup because the last posts are from around when the site went down. If it's an older backup, it's only by a couple hours, tops.

So, any explanation as to why I couldn't get on the site for the past three days?

No idea what caused that mess, and since I never heard back from Jay, I presume he's enjoying the holiday.

I'm sure he will be able to tell us what happened when he returns.

Finally am able to get back into the forum.  Anyone know what the heck happened?

Only Jay will be able to say for sure, and he's probably still enjoying the holidays. Patience...

Yeah seriously, I haven't been able to sleep at night with how worried I've been about this forum.*

It is now January the 6th,  have any of you mods heard from Jay at all?

Author

Yes.

I'll leave it to him to update us on the situation, as it's his department. :)

The forum went down for a couple of days and then suddenly came back up and we've heard nothing from Jay(the mods have now, but I didn't know that before I made my previous post).   At first the mods tried to contact him and he didn't respond.  It could have been argued that he was off on Christmas vacation somewhere, but he should have been back and we've still heard nothing from him.   I have been a part of this forum for over ten years(with exception of a couple years inbetween),  I care about this forum.   When the the guy that owns the forum disappears and we hear nothing from him after an outage like the one we had, I get concerned and of course curious(sorry but I am only human).   If I am not mistaken Jay disappeared for while before I joined the forum.  I was worried that it might be happening again. It is not good for forum quality when the owner disappears.   I see now that the mods have been in contact with Jay.   I await whatever update Jay wishes to give.

I made the mistake of using the email link on the front page to contact him. It's spammed almost to the point of being useless. I have his proper email now, so that won't happen again.

Christmas vacation does extend to New Years for some people. It was just rotten timing this outage happened at a time of year when people are focused on other things. If I had a life, I might not have noticed the outage until it was over myself.

To the best of our knowledge at this point, nothing sinister is going on.
