Independence Day: Resurgence.

There’s a good chance it’ll suck – I can easily see CG overload making it as sufferable as a jackhammer to the jaw, and Emmerich’s as mediocre a director as ever – but the writers are apparently going to be the same writers who’ll be working on the Stargate reboot trilogy, and I want to have some idea of what they’re going to be bringing to the table.

I’m probably one of the few people here who’s looking forward to ST Beyond.

Other than that, been excited for Midnight Special for awhile, should be good. Also Passengers will probably be great.

Does X-Men: Apocalypse count?

IDR is going to be total shit.

I’m most looking forward to Rogue One.

Rogue One could be interesting. Not sure about ST Beyond, this is the first Trek movie I am seriously considering skipping. Does the Civil War (Marvel) movie count as sci-fi?

Ah, I forgot about Rogue One. That definitely trumps IDR by several moon leaps & bounds.

Yeah, I’d have to agree. Rogue One is at the top of my list. As for Star Trek Beyond I want to give it a chance. Into Darkness was such a magnificent failure but Pegg has been promoting Beyond as more of a return to form. And he hated the trailer, so, maybe it might turn out decent at least?

2016 doesn’t look like a particularly interesting year for sci-fi. Though, admittedly, with Ex Machina, Mad Max: Fury Road, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the bar was set pretty high.

That said, I’m eager to see Rogue One and Star Trek Beyond.

The rest, I’ll probably catch one day on TV…

Definitely Independence Day. Not 'cause it’ll be good, in fact I’m hoping it sucks as much as the first one. Jeff looks to be fully Goldblumming, and young Will Smith is looking and sounding ‘fresh’. Also the President is back, as is Data, even though he died in the first one. The more I think about it, the more I think I’m gonna like it. Devlin and Emmerich for the win!

“Ow! It`s hot in here, the butter in my pocket is melting!”

I’d like the 5th Wave. If I see anything at all.

K. Let’s have this ride.

Star Wars isn’t sci-fi. It’s fantasy in sci-fi setting.

^Or just science-fantasy works, I think.

Lucas’ and some EU writers’ efforts to “rationalize” the fantasy elements notwithstanding.

Star Wars is science fact, just ask Ric Olie.

Well, I watched the second trailer for IDR, and yeah, I won’t be seeing this movie. The first trailer actually intrigued me, but this … this … no, just no. Between the shitty CG aliens and more of Emmerich’s inane “let’s make everything go BOOM!” shit, I’ve better ways to kill my brain cells.

Seriously, I fucking hate Roland Emmerich (Stargate notwithstanding). He’s the poster child of almost* everything wrong with modern Hollywood.

*He hasn’t directed a remake yet, so he isn’t quite all the way there yet. That’ll change once he gets to the Stargate reboot, though.

I’ll take Emmerich over Bay anyday.

I remain proud of the fact that I have never seen a single one of Bay’s movies.

I hope it’s not morning where you are. Starting your day drunk isn’t a great move.
