Keep in mind that many of these are just ideas to consider, and I may not use them. In fact, some contradict each other. Those that are crossed out have already been fully implemented in my edits.

Here’s some in depth analysis of a couple of my ideas.

I want to make Dooku the unifying villain of the Prequels, like Darth Vader is in the Originals. That means he should be in every film of the trilogy. We’d cast someone new as a younger Dooku and have them chroma keyed into an existing scene.

The obvious choice would be to have him as Jedi on Coruscant. He could talk to Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan. The only scene that would really work is the balcony scene, where Obi-Wan tells him that if he wasn’t so radical, he’d be on the council. At that point, Dooku could step in and take Qui-Gon’s side.

A post-credits scene of him ordering the Clone Army would be neat (in my edits, he is Syfo-Dyas (yes that contradicts TCW, but it’s just a single episode, so I can overlook it)), but wouldn’t make much sense, as it would spoil the mystery of the next movie, has no relevance to this movie’s plot, and SW doesn’t do post-credits scenes anyway.

An alternative would be having him already left the Jedi and replacing Sidious with him. I’d rather not due this for the simple reason that I don’t want to contradict TCW, which makes it clear that Maul was Sidious’s apprentice, not Tyrannus’s. I guess he could be neither a Sith nor a Jedi at that point, working as a middle man between Sidious and Maul, but it would be odd for a Sith master not to speak to his apprentice directly like that.

The main problem with TPM IMO (aside from feeling redundant) is that the main character is Qui-Gon instead of Obi-Wan. It’s especially true on Tatooine. How can we remedy this? It’s not within our abilities to just add him to the Tatooine part, so we should try to give him something else to do. Unfortunately, all we have to work with is shots of him on the ship.

I was thinking maybe we could have him encounter one of Maul’s probes while hanging out on the ship. Instead of Maul finding Qui-Gon, he finds the ship. It gives them a reason to run without having to re-add that scene of Qui-Gon killing the drone. The problem would be making a scene of Obi-Wan taking out the drone. I doubt it’d be feasible. At most, we could have him spot the drone on the ship’s sensors and alert the crew. I suppose they could shoot the drone with ship, but at that point, we might as well just let the drone get away, as it wouldn’t be Obi-Wan personally dealing with it.

'Interesting idea. I’m a proponent of incorporating Dooku into TPM as well. I’m no editor, but it seems to me the simplest way to do so (not to mention the way that would least contradict existing canon) would be to add a brief scene of him watching Qui-Gon’s funeral. You could either edit the back of his head into the foreground of an exterior shot of the temple, to have him back on Naboo but keeping his distance from the Jedi, or the AOTC footage (including one of the deleted scenes) of him sitting at the conference table could be repurposed into him watching a hologram of the funeral.

Throw in a line or two spiced together from Dooku and Saruman dialogue – vaguely talking about going to war, “the Republic cannot be fixed,” or something to that effect – and the result could be really cool.’

No green Lightsabers until Return of the Jedi. All PT Jedi have blue lightsabers.

I’ve always loved this idea, but keep in mind how difficult it’s gonna be to get the color exact. I tried to do this in my fanedits but the former-greens never looked close enough.

There’s a simple fix for this.

Black and white Prequels!

Not a bad idea if executed well.

Keep in mind we also have all of TCW to work with. It may not be Christopher Lee (theatrical pilot aside), but it sounds exactly like him.

Good idea inserting Dooku in the funeral, but that’s by no means sufficient. I want him to actually have a role in the film, preferably a villainous one. Like I said, I want him to be to the PT what Vader was to the OT. Darth Maul, meanwhile, would be like Tarkin, or Boba Fett. I might replace Sidious with Dooku in some scenes. He could introduce Darth Maul as his associate, rather than apprentice.

You can ignore _ender, we all should. At least until he stops the generalizations and starts naming names when he’s complaining about people. :p

With that said, why is this called Ender’s Cut anyway?

What a grouchy thing to say! 😛

The ROTJ collaborative thread is a wealth of ideas, both on how to edit Return of the Jedi, as well as how to collaborate in an edit.

Like I’ve said before, I didn’t call myself Ender on this site to avoid confusion with a certain local Sith Lord. I then immediately regretted that decision. Even if I can’t manage to change my username (which I hope to), I will still refer to myself as Ender because that’s what I always go by on the Web (I don’t have the courage to introduce myself as such irl, but maybe some day). For all intents and purposes, it’s my name.
