Hey, hey, cut that out! I was kidding! Cmon you guys!

Answering your question: if you lived here, all I'd have to reply is "go to the nearest comic book stand and buy one!", but since you live there... perhaps at the internet you might find it?

I know, it's confusing watching Japanese TV, seeing the arabic numbers, and still hearing them say it in Japanese. I'm like, 'hey, that's not 'ichi', that's 'one'!'

The same way, I should say "Hey, that's not 'one', that's 'um'!"

Wow, we did it again, gone completely out of the topic. We just did a pizza stone. You see, like the expression "jumping the shark", I use "pizza stone" to refer to ocasions when we go waaay off topic, which is a common practice here... That comes from a discussion about pizza stones I had on a totally unrelated thread.

And I thought that pizza stone of yours would have worked better than it did.

BTW, if anyone has a set of this or any other SW manga, I can pay you mucho mucho republic credits.

Sessler, only if you are interested in reading in portuguese. Also, we keep the original format, from right to left, and some people dislike reading this way.

Are you Portugese, ricarleite?

BTW, just so you guys know, I'm not actually from Tunisia...that's one of those 'Tatooine' jokes...I live in Australia.

I know, we're completely off-topic again, but I honestly don't mind. But if anyone wants to post some more frames from the comics here, you are most welcome to...

*HINT*: Please post more comic frames on here!

Bah! We're purists here, aren't we? We don't need any whiners who are gonna complain, "Awww, I hate reading from right to left! It's too haaaaard!"

Bull!!!! Yeah, right, the limitations of the Japanese writing systems forced him to be unable to live his dream of writing from left to right, but he came to America to be free of that stigma. Yeah, that's what makes it great to be an American... left to right writing. [/sarcasm]

The first page in each issue showed a panel of the manga in Japanese, and then the same one in English. There was a disclaimer printed that basically said that the films were so well known to countless North American fans, that some of the panels were 'reversed' in the Japanese to accomodate the fact that they read from right to left. I got the impression that they wrote it to discourage the whole "No, no, no, Chewie was standing on the right!" debate that likely would have ensued.

Here is the torrent link for the Star Wars Giga Pack, which includes an assload of comics, including the manga series...

It took me a long time to DL and I seeded it for a few days, so do be nice and help your brothers and sisters out.

Eh? What? But the original author did it on the right to left - and that's the way manga should be read.

Is there any other way to read manga? I'm wholly against the bastardization of manga because people in the US "cannot" read it.

Actually, I have a good friend that might be interested in it, he learned to speak fluent Portugese(which surprised me, since he put so little effort into anything else, like school work ) so he could go to a subsidary of his uncle's company in Brazil, but his uncle sold the company before he could go. Now he is thinking about doing an exchange program next year, to the Middle-West region I believe, and he is always looking for books in Portugese and about Brazil.

BTW, what is the point of us foreigners using a Z in your country's name when you use an S?

Has he any portuguese or brazillian roots or descendence? If not, it's quite remarkable that he learned it. It's the second person I've ever heard who decided to learn that language... If he wants, I can send this or some other manga as well, or anything else he might like to read, like local magazines.

That's because the S sounds like a Z in portuguese, unless there are two S. So "Brasil" in portuguese sounds like "Brazil", but with a more open "AH" sound. To keep consistence, the name is spelled with a Z in some countries. In japanese, it's BURAJIRU.

Uh... suggestion to Jay, if he's reading this. I'm sure it's too late now, but we could have a unicode database for the forum, so we could post stuff in japanese or arabic or other languages characters.

No, he has absolutely no Brazilian roots.

I've known him for years and have never seen him so enthralled and go towards anything with such zeal as much as he is going towards the Portugese language and learning about Brazil itself.

I'll send you a PM.

Er...when looking for more scans, I found a link from the OS which said (as of March) that the films were getting the "Cine Manga" treatment.

What is this?

it's like an anime comic; when you take stills from an anime/or movie to make a comic, but this one looks terrific! we had the same kind of thing in France a few years ago, but it was crap!

i'll try to find pics!

Cinemanga is nothing new. They were called "Photonovels" or "Photostory" back in the 70's. I remember several made out of Star Trek episodes and one for the Battlestar Galactica movie.

i 've found only the cover, but the indiside is nothing like the cine manga one, it's bad quality pics(looks like a VHS screencap!) on a white background.

I had one of these from the original Batman (1989). Not sure where it is, I think I might have lost it.

Why no manga for attack of the clones or revenge of the sith?

Unless they actually came out in japan and dark horse just decided not to bring them stateside. The other complaint i have is they reprinted it backwards so it could be read left to right, rather than right to left. The same thing was done with miyazaki's manga Nausicaa of the valley of the wind. Thank god the publisher of that book series viz comics actually reprinted it in the traditional japanese format in english after getting many complaints.

The image on each page being flipped or mirrowed, is such an anoyance i've actually considered getting the original trilogy manga from japan from mediaworks even though i can't read japanese, and the cover art is better than the u.s. release, and of course the comic frames match up to the way they are on film rather than reversed.
